2. 1.- Can salt or sand be dissolved in
water?
2.- How does temperature affects
solubility?
Question 1 and 2
3. Hypothesis (Choose one of each)
• 1.- Salt dissolves in water/Doesn’t dissolve in
water.
• 2.- Salt dissolves easier in hot/cold water.
• 3.- Sand dissolves in water/doesn’t dissolve in
water.
• 4.- Sand dissolves easier in hot/cold water
5. PROCEDURE
•1.- Put salt in hot water and stir.
•2.- Put sand in hot water and stir
•3.- Put salt in cold water and stir.
•4.- Put sand in cold water and stir.
6. OBSERVATION
• Are there any salt in the bottom of the cold water glass?
• Are there any salt in the bottom of the hot water glass?
• Are there any sand in the bottom of the cold water glass?
• Are there any sand in the bottom of the hot water glass?
• Which one was easier to dissolve?
7. CONCLUSION
• The solubility of a substance increases as
the temperature increases.
• Sand can’t be dissolved in water because
it is insoluble.
