SAY HER NAME, the untold story of Margaret Prescod, a relentless activist that fought the LAPD for over two decades to solve the mysteries of multiple serial killers that brutally murdered hundreds of black women in South Central Los Angeles will go into production at HBO. The series focuses around one killer, Lonnie Franklin, known as the Grim Sleeper. Prescod pressed the LAPD detectives to investigate Franklin as being a killer of many of the missing young black women. Franklin was arrested in conjunction with multiple murders in 2010, and convicted and sentenced to death in 2016. He died on death row in March 2020. The series, which is produced by Jane Rosenthal and Berry Welch for Tribeca Productions, and Lisa Ellis and Isaac Katz for Provenance Media, will be written and created by Sonya Winton-Odamtten and Jonathan I. Kidd, whom recently gained critical praise for HBO's LoveCraft Country. Say Her Name, has been in development at Tribeca Productions and Provenance Media over the past two years, and will be Executive Produced by both Tribeca and Provenance along with director, Elliott Lester.
