Is Plagiarism Wrong
When it comes to writing a research paper, there are a lot of rules that need to be followed. I know first–hand the consequences that may result from the
lack of knowledge pertaining to not knowing these rules. Although it may not be intentional, not knowing these rules could result in plagiarism.
Plagiarism is copying someone else's work without giving them the proper credit (Stolley, Brizee, & Paiz, 2014).
Plagiarism is wrong because it takes someone else's ideas and thoughts and displays them as their own. This is not acceptable because the original
author was the one that put the time and effort into the research for the paper. Looking into this, I have come to realize that this is basicallycheating.

Plagiarism: Discussion Questions
Question Define plagiarism in your own words. What do you think plagiarism means? Illustrate your discussion with hypothetical examples. Why
is plagiarism a serious problem? What is your opinion of the impact of the Internet and all its resources on academic integrity? How can plagiarism
be avoided? One definition of plagiarism is that it is "theft of intellectual property." Do you agree with this assessment? Why or why not? What
suggestions would you offer to eliminate both inadvertent and deliberate plagiarism? Plagiarism is incorrectly attributing words or concepts to
your own inventiveness, without giving appropriate credit to the originator of those words or ideas. The most obvious example of plagiarism is
copying the words of others without inserting a footnote, endnote, or other form of citation in a research paper. Professional journalists and writers
as well as students have been found guilty of plagiarism, when they incorporated the words of others into their prose, and did not give credit to the
original source. Merely changing one or two words does not absolve someone of plagiarism. It is also plagiarism if you paraphrase the words or ideas
of an author and do not give that person appropriate credit. It is more difficult to identify plagiarism regarding paraphrasing or the ownership of ideas
(versus directly–quoted words). What constitutes an 'original' idea is often hotly debated. For example, Shakespeare seldom used original plots. The

Direct Plagiarism
Whether you are writing an article to be published on a company website or you are a student going to hand in a paper, there are several things you
should think about before you submit your writing. While direct plagiarism, stealing the words or work of others without citing them, can be easily
avoided, it is the accidental form of plagiarism that causes the most problems. This involves using writing without citing properly or giving credit to
the original author. If you follow these basic steps, then you will be able to avoid plagiarism in all of your future writing and all of the unpleasant

Plagiarism In The Academic Setting
Plagiarism the act of copying someone else's work and using it as your own without giving that resource credit. Plagiarism is taken very seriously in
the academic setting. It is being dishonest with your work and trying to take credit for someone's hard work and for their accomplishments.
I think plagiarism is a problem in the academic setting because some students are not confident in their work and they don't want to work hard to get a
good grade. I also think another issue in the academic setting is that students most students are young and out of high school and they do not have their
priorities in line and they allow other distractions to affect their school work and they don't have the time to get the work completed. So they take the

First resource would be the tutoring services they offer. We can have someone review our paper and let us know if they see any plagiarism within the
paper so we can have that fixed prior to submission. Also it is required that we submit to Turnitin, with this resources it has the same outcome it shows
where something could possibly be plagiarized and allows the student to fix the issue. You also have the library to research articles and topics to get
better understandings of what you are doing. Last resource and probably the most important is your instructor. If you should ever need to turn
something in late so that you don't plagiarize this is who you would go to. For me, I try to double check my work and I always review the results of
Turnitin before submitting to ensure my paper is 100% my work and that there will be no future issues.
My biggest take away is to always be upfront and honest especially with your academic career and professional career. Plagiarizing and being
dishonest gets you nowhere further in life and only causes more issues. I believe in working hard and you will see your success start to blossom. I
know plagiarism is a huge issue throughout all universities but I am glad that GCU strives their best to ensure all students have the resources they
need in order to avoid this situation and to be

Plagiarism And The Ethics Of Plagiarism
Many scholars and parents have heard the term "plagiarism" while talking about writing essays, poems, and other works. Plagiarism is defined as "to
steal and pass off (the ideas or words of another) as one 's own" by Merriam–Webster dictionary. While plagiarism may be denoted as stealing one's
work without credit, a more vast and broad definition usually applies to college level work. Every college and university has their own handbook and
code of conduct on what exactly "plagiarism" is defined as, and what are the consequences for breaking these rules. Collin College's "Scholastic
Dishonesty", Boston University's "Academic Conduct Code", and Yale College's "What is Plagiarism?" all have different perspectives as to what
"plagiarism" is and how it is defined.
Collin College's "Scholastic Dishonesty" is set up in six sections, four having bolded first words, showing what each paragraph is about. The
wording in the sections are very formal; making it seem as though to steal someone's work to be childish or immature. The tone, set by the wording
and overall flow of the sentences, is very serious; it makes it seem as though committing one of these crimes is as bad and just as serious as
committing murder. The list of scholastic dishonesties, general scholastic dishonesty, plagiarism, cheating, and collusion, is very open ended. Collin
College even goes as far as saying "while specific examples are listed below, this is not an exhaustive list and scholastic dishonesty may

Plagiarism Reflection Essay
Reflection on Week 21 (How to deal with plagiarism)
Up to this moment I have learned a lot about plagiarism. Using internet and google is so is part of our daily lives that obtaining relevant information
is as easy as ABC. As the results of eases of access to information student do not think about plagiarism as a serious offence. This remind me of artist
campaign which was held in South Africa, complaining about people copying their video or DVD illegally, this is another form of plagiarism. In order
for plagiarism to stop, educating students about referencing and academic writing from primary level to tertiary education level is very important. Any
plagiarism education training must include education about the offence itself and what it means to steal in that way. If the educational institution take
plagiarism so seriously and provide compulsory workshop about the type of plagiarism, about how to prevent misconduct and what plagiarism actually
mean. From reading Blog and fellow student discussions and doing different searches about plagiarism I find different ways to deal with plagiarism
and improve my writing skill.
When marking the Essay report, I got the opportunity to use the Plagiarism checker (Papperater), is the software that helps students and teachers to
spot similarity percentage, get rid of it and help them to submit high quality Essay or articles. I managed to upload all the Essay to the system and
write the similarity report down. Out of eight Essay that I have

Plagiarism-Checking Website Analysis
Before this assignment, I had not used a plagiarism–checking website, because I knew I have never (and would never) steal someone's work and call it
my own. However, now that I have learned about so many instances of unintentional plagiarism, I know it will be very helpful to use websites like
this before submitting my papers to Grace Bible College. PaperRater.com was the first plagiarism checker that I came across online. Besides
checking for plagiarism, this website also has a grammar and spelling checker. Once you copy and paste a paper into PaperRater (uploading a file is
only an option for premium, paying members), it searches your work to tell you not only if it detects plagiarism, but it gives you a score for word
choice and style as

Turnitin: Online Plagiarism
Turnitin is an Internet–based plagiarism–prevention service created by iParadigms, LLC, first launched in 1997. Typically, universities and high
schools buy licenses to submit essays to the Turnitin website, which checks the documents for unoriginal content. The results can be used to identify
similarities to existing sources or can be used in formative assessment to help students learn how to avoid plagiarism and improve their writing.[1]
Students may be required by schools to submit essays to Turnitin, as a deterrent to plagiarism. This has been a source of criticism, with some students
refusing to do so in the belief that requiring it constitutes a presumption of guilt. Additionally, critics have alleged that use of the software violates
educational privacy and intellectual property laws....show more content...
Other tools included with the Turnitin suite are GradeMark (online grading and feedback) and PeerMark (peer review) services. Turnitin released the
WriteCycle Suite on February 3, 2009. WriteCycle bundles the Originality Checking service with its GradeMark online grading tools and PeerMark
tools. Turnitin released Turnitin2 on September 4, 2010, dropping the "WriteCycle"

Plagiarism : What Is Plagiarism?
What is Plagiarism? Plagiarism is using someone else's work, words, production, researches and ideas without the approval or the acknowledgment of
the writer or producer, and claiming the credit for himself. Many reasons and factors are attributed for the use of plagiarism and could be cultural,
historical, linguistic, environmental and educational background. Plagiarism is a form of an academic dishonesty, academic misconduct, and a digital
cheating. It is declared to be an unacceptable legal act and institutional regulations. And universities, schools, and instructors do not only need to
decrease plagiarism, but they must also affect positively on students writings, increase the understanding of how to use digital technology to facilitate
their academic writing. Where plagiarism can be included? In written assignment and project: when students take other people words and researches,
and claimed them as their own. There are three types of common plagiarism in written assignment: o Copying words and ideas from published sources:

Reaction Paper On Plagiarism
Plagiarism is the "wrongful appropriation, stealing, and publication of another's language, thoughts, ideas, expressions, and of them as one's own
original work". The idea remains problematic with unclear definitions and rules. The modern concept of plagiarism as immortal and originality as an
idea emerge in Europe only the 18th century, particularly with Romantic movement.Plagiarism, is considered academic dishonesty and even expulsion.
I found this definition of plagiarism on http://en.wikipedia.org/wik/plagiarism#citenote–13.com. Recent, cases of extreme plagiarism have been
identified in academia. Self–plagiarism is, the reuse of signification, identical, or nearly identical portions of one's own work without acknowledging
that one is doing so or citing the original work is sometimes described as "self–plagiarism", the term "recycling fraud" has been used as well. I found
this definition on http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/sel–plagiarism.com. When I got caught for plagiarism, I was answering a question in biology for my
home school program, by copying and pasting the answer off the internet on http: www.openstudy.com. My teacher Ms. Arnold ran my work through
"check my work", and the paper came back saying "I plagiarized my answer"! My Aunt Rhonda "who teaches me, my brother, and sister from home",
with our homeschooling program, was very upset at me for cheating. She said "don't do it again or I could get kicked out of school for cheating"! I
told my Aunt

Plagiarism is taken very seriously in the academic setting. It is being dishonest with your work and trying to take credit for someone's hard work and for their accomplishments. I think plagiarism is a problem in the academic setting because some students are not confident in their work and they don't want to work hard to get a good grade. • 7. Plagiarism And The Ethics Of Plagiarism Many scholars and parents have heard the term "plagiarism" while talking about writing essays, poems, and other works. Plagiarism is defined as "to steal and pass off (the ideas or words of another) as one 's own" by Merriam–Webster dictionary. While plagiarism may be denoted as stealing one's work without credit, a more vast and broad definition usually applies to college level work. Every college and university has their own handbook and code of conduct on what exactly "plagiarism" is defined as, and what are the consequences for breaking these rules. Collin College's "Scholastic Dishonesty", Boston University's "Academic Conduct Code", and Yale College's "What is Plagiarism?" all have different perspectives as to what "plagiarism" is and how it is defined. Collin College's "Scholastic Dishonesty" is set up in six sections, four having bolded first words, showing what each paragraph is about. The wording in the sections are very formal; making it seem as though to steal someone's work to be childish or immature. The tone, set by the wording and overall flow of the sentences, is very serious; it makes it seem as though committing one of these crimes is as bad and just as serious as committing murder. The list of scholastic dishonesties, general scholastic dishonesty, plagiarism, cheating, and collusion, is very open ended. Collin College even goes as far as saying "while specific examples are listed below, this is not an exhaustive list and scholastic dishonesty may Get more content on HelpWriting.net
