Before you even starting painting you have to decided what type of material you will be painting on. In modern days you will most likely land on

in regular life, it seems to have a texture, and we perceive that as being natural. So, if you draw grass without a little bit of texture you would most
likely see the grass as less natural looking. This artist probably realizes to some degree that without texture his drawings wouldn't look nearly as
realistic. In the trees he also used texture to make them seem more realistic. Another group of components that the artist used to achieve their desired

everything comes together as a whole to make one image. Everything looks to be in harmony with each other. The different values of green gave the

"A picture can paint a thousand words." I found the one picture in my mind that does paint a thousand words and more. It was a couple of weeks ago
when I saw this picture in the writing center; the writing center is part of State College. The beautiful colors caught my eye. I was so enchanted by the
painting, I lost the group I was with. When I heard about the observation essay, where we have to write about a person or thing in the city that catches
your eye. I knew right away that I wanted to write about the painting. I don't know why, but I felt that the painting was describing the way I felt at that

The grass was spread out through the whole painting. If you looked hard enough you can see flowers of pink and red growing within the grass.
There were spots of yellow in the grass making the grass look as though it was dying. Then the painting had a patch of grass that had a very vibrant
shade of green, that made the grass look so alive. The grass had a willowy quality that may have suggested that there may have been a breeze.
The river also suggested a breeze, there were ripples that flowed southeast. There were many different shades of blue in the lake and river. The lake had
a darker shade of light blue surrounded by a dark blue then lined with black. The lake appeared to have a light shining either on top or the bottom of
it, which allowed you to see the grass growing under it. The river had a lighter shade of light blue with white lines to show the ripples but it was
surrounded with the same colors as the lake. You did not see any grass growing under the river because there was no light shining on the river.
When I saw the painting for the first time it grabbed my attention. At first I thought it was the beautiful colors that attracted me to the painting, but it
was more. In the picture the shadowy men look scared. They looked as though they were trying to run away from something and this lake that forms

Reflection Paper On Painting
Before you even start painting you have to decide what type of material you will be painting on. In modern days you will most likely land on
paper as the material you choose to paint on. After choosing to paint on paper you should decide on what type of paint to use. The artist's painting,
I am looking at choose to use watercolor paints on a watercolor paper. Apparently watercolor paper is made with linters or cotton rags unlike how
printer paper is made. Cotton rags are supposedly stronger than wood fibers or linters, as a result the paper is relatively strong. An additional
advantage to using cotton rages is it makes the paper flexible, therefor less likely to rip. If you use older pieces of cotton rages you would be
recycling, which I consider is another advantage. I assume that the artist used watercolor paper that was made a similar way, but I don't know for sure.
Once you choose the material and paint you are using you might start thinking about what you're going to paint and how to make it look the way you
want it to. One way to make your paintings look like how you want is using visual elements. There are several types of visual elements an artist can
use, including line and color. For the painting I am analyzing the artist ended up using the elements value, and texture mostly. The element value refers
to the lightness or darkness of a color. Green has a variety of different values, and the artist utilizes these different values in his watercolor painting. For
the tree leaves, he has a darker green closer to the center of the tree, then a light color or value of green as the leaves branch out farther away from
the center of the tree. As he painted the grass, he made it a different value of green than the trees. I believe that the artist used different values of
green to represent different implied textures. However, since he used values of the same color all the green items in the painting seemed to belong
together. As a result of the different greens there doesn't seem too be one color that sticks out the most, they all seem to be in harmony. Even though

The simplistic art of contemporary drawing has always been concerned with making marks. Different artist exploit lines to make marks, which come
together to express or create a feeling the particular artist is communicating. Drawing or making marks has been around longer than any other art form

uses subtle yet dark tone to bring out the mutated shape of her drawings depicting how humans have brought out the monstrosity side of animals as
animals "are reduced to a kind of living taxidermy." Caitlin Hackett has used black pens and pencils to create such dark beauty in artworks such as
