The Notebook By Nicholas Sparks Essay
A romantic drama film is a genre that explores the difficult aspects that come with love. The plot usually includes two people that are in love that can't
be together the way they want to be due to obstacles. The obstacles in a romantic drama film can include a family 's disapproval, to forbidden love, to
one 's own psychological restrictions. The Notebook is a movie based on a best–selling novel that was written by author Nicholas Sparks. This is a love
story that is composed of a series of obstacles between two young people that are madly in love with each other. It perfectly fits and displays the
criteria for a successful romantic drama film because it includes the complexity of love, and elicits emotions.
In The Notebook there are countless obstacles between the two main characters that are in love. This allows the movie to fit into the drama aspect of
the genre, displaying the complexity of their love. Complex love includes the drama, and difficulties of a relationship, while still being closely
connected to the romantic parts of a relationship. This is prevalent in The Notebook. Allie and Noah, played by well–known actors Rachel McAdams
and Ryan Gosling, were two people from different social classes. Allie was from a wealthy, privileged upper–class family while Noah was making
around 40 cents an hour at a lumber yard job. While love is not confined to the amount of money that each person has, in the 1940's, which is the
setting of the movie, social class played an

Film Analysis Throughout the movie, The Notebook, there were many different aspects that corresponded with the material learned throughout the
semester. There were times were you were able to pin point why each problem was faced based on different character backgrounds. As began to watch
the movie, you start to understand the culture aspects of each individual by the way they talk and present themselves, which caused many situations to
arise. Also, these many situations arise throughout the movie that affected the outcome of decisions made: biological, psychological, and social
/environment. However, diversity played a magnificent role from the beginning to the end. So, therefore, throughout this paper you will have a better
understanding of the analysis of this film, which should provide information about the movie.
Brief Description While watching the movie, there were many characters that played a magnificent role: Noah Calhoun, Allison "Allie" Hamilton, Fin
and Sarah, Lon Hammond, Jr., Ann Hamilton, Frank Calhoun, John Hamilton, and Anne's ex boyfriend. During the beginning of the movie, Duke, an
elderly man, began to read a story to a elderly women named Allie. Allie had dementia and Duke (Noah) was determined to regain her memory of their
love and life together. The story began where they first met each other; Noah saw Allie on the Farris wheel and knew she was the one. He jumped on
the Farris wheel while it was still in motion and begged Allie on a date till she

The Notebook is one of my favorite love movies of all time. The reason I love this movie so much is because that main characters Noah and Allie
go through so many trials and finally end up together in the end. This movie I feel shows me how strong their love for each other really was and I
now feel as if it is meant to be it will always find a way. Looking at the movie as a reference to get a better understanding of how lifespan
development works, I realized that most of the trials that Noah and Allie went though were part of stages of development. The theory of stages of
development was created by Erik Erikson, he believes that we go though certain stages in our life and if we do not get passed them properly we will

Feeling happy about their choices in life I feel lead to a peaceful death because they had everything they ever wanted which was each other. In the
middle of the movie Noah finds out by Allie mother that Allie and her parents want her to go to school in New York. I believe this to be stage five
identity vs. identity confusion which happens during the adolescence part of people lives. Allie was trying to figure out who she really was. Allie
did everything her parents told her to do because she wanted to please and make them proud of her. When Noah came along I think things
changed for her because she was able to be herself around him and she was able to see what she really wanted. I think that trying to be someone
for her parents led her to be confused about whom she was and what she wanted. I think that Noah had a better sense of who he was because he
had to grow up a lot faster by this I mean he helped his father with the bills and he felt like a responsible adult. When Allie walked into Noah life he
knew that he wanted to proved and be with her and let her go and grow in college while he worked. He thought that Allie wanted to go to school
closer to where he was so that they can stay together. Yet Allie parents did not want her to be with Noah so they decided for Allie to go away to
school in New York and Allie followed what her parents wanted because she was unsure of what she really wanted or how to stand up for it.

Allie left for New York and got settled into collage. She started to meet new friends and was trying to adjust to her new life without Noah. Allie never
received a letter from Noah and that broke her heart because she sill loved him and missed him. After a few years passed she met a young man named

happy and were busy trying to get things ready for Allie and Lon's wedding.

The Notebook is a phenomenal film with incredible performances and many heartfelt moments from beginning to end. It is a love story that many
of us fantasize of living someday. The story unfolds in recent times at a Nursing home with the introduction of an elderly lady (Gena Rowlands)
who is being visited by an old man, known as Duke (James Garner), who also resides in the nursing home, and he's there to read her a story. He
begins to read about a young girl named Allie (Rachel McAdams) who was visiting a cousin one summer in the late 1940s. Allie was a beautiful
teenage girl who eventually caught the eye of Noah (Ryan Gosling), her cousin's boyfriend's best friend. Initially, she showed no interest in Noah,
considering the fact...show more content...
The film?s setting was in present and past scenarios, which made it very interesting. As the old man Duke read the story, in a past plot, and the
story began to climax, he would be interrupted by someone in the nursing staff, bringing them back to the present. This lineup of events leads to a
sense of curiosity as I began to wonder what these two plots have in relation. This curiosity will soon be fulfilled as the story develops, and the two
plots start to intertwine. The director of this film did a fantastic job in combining these two plots, and giving the audience just enough time to
figure out their relation. He didn?t give it away too soon, or so late that the story got boring or confusing. He also made very good use of
underscoring (background music with no apparent source) in a previous scene where Allie and Noah where dancing alone in the middle on
nowhere, to the sounds of Billie Holiday. This particular shot was a three minute continuous shot taken with a camera on a 300ft dolly track. The
actors and actresses in this film did a remarkable job in playing their roles. The language and wardrobe fit the perfect description of a 40?s
teenager. Now, this is what I call a love story. Based on the novel by Nicholas Sparks, The Notebook is most definitely the way a love story should
be. This story doesn?t just say happily ever after at the end, it actually takes you there. Works Cited The Notebook. Directed by Nick Cassavetes.

Literary Analysis of The Notebook by Nicholas Sparks This book is a great book and it touches ones heart in ways you couldn't imagine. I
seriously love this book because I love romantic stories and it's just so cute. The movie is good but the book is better. Well 'The Notebook' is about
a journey of two young lovers Noah Calhoun and Allie Nelson who made a passionate summer romance and they were separated because Allie
moved to the city. After fourteen years of separation due to World War 2 and class differences. Allie got engaged to a wealthy lawyer, Lon. One day

When she opened her eyes, she noticed that their boat was surrounded by Tundra Swans and Canada Geese. She was amazed of how beautiful it
was but it was cut short because it began to rain. So Noah paddled as fast as he can to the plantation and he couldn?t help but realize how beautiful
Allie looked wet in the rain. When they arrived at the plantation they ran into the house. Noah ran upstairs and gave Allie dry clothes. Then she
was trapped in the house because she thought it was unsafe to drive in the rain. That night in the living room next to the fire Allie and Noah made
love like they once did fourteen summers ago. Making up for their years apart, and slept in each others arms that night. The next day Allie?s
mother warned her that Lon was here looking for her so Allie left Noah, leaving him as if she where to never see him again and went to face Lon.
She told Lon everything and told him that her heart truly lied with Noah. Allie went back to Noah and later on they got married and had a whole
bunch of kids and lived there whole lives together. But when they reached their senior years Allie was diagnosed with Alzheimer?s and it got worse
through out the years so they moved to a home. Later on Allie forgot her life, forgot who she was, even forgot who Noah was. Everyday Noah
would read to her and she would listen and sometimes she would remember as if she didn?t have the disease. One day as they where having a
wonderful day also a dinner for two, Allie?s memory

The Notebook Book Review By Nicholas Sparks
The Notebook Book Review
Nicholas Sparks specializes in writing romance books that appeal to realistic readers. He takes his writings one step further by adding the elements of
situations that occur in everyday life. In the very beginning of the book he dedicates the story to Cathy, who is identified as his "friend and
wife."(Sparks 1). Because The Notebook is dedicated to the author's wife, one can infer that the theme of this novel deals with love, relationships and
life. The dedication to Cathy basically mirrors everything else about the novel. It establishes the tone for the entire text. In fact, Sparks admitted
himself that "The genesis of the novel was from [his] own family." So not only is The Notebook about Allie and Noah, it is also aboutNicholas Sparks
and his wife Cathy. Nicholas Sparks reveals his story in two ways. In one way he tells the story through present day Allie and Noah and how they
are both elderly living in an assisted care home. "There is sickness rolling through my body; I 'm neither strong nor healthy, and my days are spent
like an old party balloon: listless, spongy and growing softer over time" (Sparks 2). The other way he tells the story is by reflecting upon the past,
describing how Allie and Noah met one summer, fell in love, were separated, but somehow managed to find each other again. "Our souls are
connected . . . I know I have spent everylife before this one searching for you . . .We will find each other again, and maybe the stars will

The Notebook Family Assessment
Introduction
Family plays a very important role in the health, development, and socialization of each individual member that belongs to the family unit. Bozette's
words (as cited in Friedman, Bowden, and Jones, 2003) defines family as "who the patient says it is" (p. 10). This assessment is based on the movie
"The notebook" and it illustrates the dramatic love story of two young adolescents that in time overcome the barriers that are brought on by the
differences in family dynamics. Through this assessment, the different family dynamics will be depicted in order to understand how these influence
each individual character and how they impact the actions and decisions that are made.

Assessment of Movie Family
Noah's family unit is composed of his father Frank Calhoun and his best friend Finn. The family's relationship appears to be characterized by love,
trust, open–communication, and respect. Noah is an only child, quiet, and respectful, who has been raised by his father in a countryside home. He is
well aware of the limitations that surround him both educational and financial, yet seems to be content. Additionally, he appears to be very secure with
whom he is and optimistic in the way he views the future. His character as a son is manifested through his hard work at the lumberyard and reading
poetry to his father in the evenings. Frank Calhoun is portrayed as a loving, nurturing parent that cooks for his son, thus, encourages and supports his
son's autonomy; this can be viewed when he ultimately sells his home to buy Noah the Windsor property that he dreamed of rebuilding.
Communication between father and son can be identified when Frank tells Noah that Allie was prettier than he had led on, leading to believe that
previous conversations of this nature had occurred. The access to healthcare, one can presume was limited or non–existent, as Noah's father made a
statement describing a stuttering condition in Noah's earlier years, which was treated through poetry reading (Cassevetes, 2004).
Alley's family can best be described as a

them. On the way in it starts pouring rain they make it to the dock and Ally starts to run up to the dock to the house while Noah pulls the boat in and

The Notebook, By Nicholas Sparks
Nicholas Sparks' main theme that he portrayed in "The Notebook" was that of the unconditional love of Noah and Allie. Nursing is a very important
factor involved in this movie and nursing is defined as, "the protection, promotion, and optimization of health and abilities, prevention of illness and
injury, facilitation of healing, alleviation of suffering through the diagnosis and treatment of human response, and advocacy in the care of individuals,
families, groups, communities, and populations" (ANA). The theme of love impacts the concept of nursing and allows the viewers to see what values
and beliefs are truly important throughout the movie.
In the movie, "The Notebook," Nicholas Sparks shows the importance of love in all aspects of life. Throughout the movie, Sparks shows Noah's
struggle to regain Allie's memories, while still loving her unconditionally. Sparks emphasizes the endless opportunities people would do for love, just
like Noah did for Allie every day. The theme of the power of love is essential in this movie. Although Allie is diagnosed with Alzheimer's disease and
loses her memory, Noah still fights to regain her memory and allow her to love him again. Their unconditional love is so powerful that Alzheimer's
cannot take away everything that they had together. Noah and Allie overcame many obstacles throughout life, that could have torn anyone apart, but in
the end their love was what allowed them to fight everything and bring them even closer and stronger

They were inseparable. Although Noah and Ally were from two separate worlds. Ally's family was rich, yet Noah came from the middle class like

The Notebook Movie Analysis

The film entitled The Notebook, is an incredible story about a passionate and true love between two individuals. The movie which was originally a
book by the author Nicholas Sparks, illustrates the life of Noah and Allie, a young couple in the South. This young couple share a single summer
together, which does not last , because of social conflicts. They are reunited years later, for the rest of their lives. This film focuses on the
unconditional love of an older man for his wife, regardless of her memory loss due to dementia. Noah reads aloud to the love of his life, convinced to
bring her forgotten memories back. In his mind he believes that his words will get through to his wife, Allie. He believes in the possibility that she
will remember their youthful relationship and the everlasting love. He spends each day reading to her from his old journal while she basically acts as
if he is a stranger. The film is associated with Alzheimer's disease and its effect on the patient as well as the caregiver and the stress they endure
throughout the process. This movie specifically overwhelms the viewers with emotional and persuasive images, leaving them open to vulnerability of
romanticized and unrealistic visions of a true representation of the disease.
Dementia is a result of diseases that affect how the brain works. According to The Alzheimer's Association, as of 2017 there are more than 5 million
Americans living with Alzheimer's. The symptoms occur gradually over time. Memory loss is usually the first symptom. Dementia also affects mental
and physical functioning. This disease is so severe that it kills more than breast cancer and prostate cancer combined. Although dementia does not
affect each person the same every 1 in 3 seniors dies with Alzheimer's or another dementia. There are various specific signs and symptoms of dementia,
which fall into five major groups. It's five groups include decreased attention span, difficulty with decision–making, memory, language problems, and
unaware of socially acceptable behavior. When dealing with decreased attention span the individual may not be able to multitask. Familiar activities
and tasks usually take more time to complete and may be accomplished

The Notebook And How It Affects A Person's Life
I spent a lot of time considering what movie I would watch to write this essay. I listed off the movies that I would like to watch again, and then I
decided on The Notebook. I didn't really think I could write about adolescence or children, so I thought that, maybe, I could write about the elderly.
The love story that The Notebook tells is truly amazing. I love watching this movie, although I cry every time I watch it. The Notebook is about an
elderly man that tells the story of his life with the one he loves the most, his wife. He is telling the story to his wife, who has Alzheimer's Disease,
which is a degenerative disease that affects a person's memory. She has no recollection of him or their life together, or even her own children....show

My favorite theorist was Erik Erikson, as it is my opinion that he was the one who was closest to explaining our developmental stages. He has
eight stages that he talks about. I will be discussing his eighth and final stage, integrity vs despair. Erikson explains that in late adulthood, the 60's
onward, is a time when older adults look back and reflect on their lives. His theory states that when they look back on their lives and find a life
well spent and have a positive perspective about it then they have integrity (Santrock, 2013, p. 17). If they look back on their life and have a
negative outlook about it or find doubt or gloom then they have the despair that Erikson talks about (Santrock, 2013, p. 17). When Noah, the
elderly man who read the story to his wife, looks back and reflects on his life while telling the story to his wife, he has a positive outlook and
knows he has had a life well spent, especially a life well spent with his wife, Allie. There was a time in his life when I am sure he wasn't happy,
because Allie had moved away and for seven years they didn't see each other and the next time that Noah had seen her was when she was engaged
with another man. He was miserable without her and had wrote her for a whole year and never heard anything back. But, even though he had that
moment in his life, in the end he got Allie and looking back he had a very productive life; Noah had integrity. Allie has Alzheimer's Disease, so she
doesn't remember the life that

The notebook is composed of eight chapters. It is a 1996 romantic novel by American novelist Nicholas Sparks, based on a true story. It's a great
story of love and at the same thing the art of storytelling was shown in the film. Stories about the enduring power of love, a story of miracles that will

would happen if two people separated for so long and found each other again. This novel will persuade the reader to realize how important our loved

Even if, at some point in time we lost our hope that the one we love would still find ways to be back, true love will always be worth waiting. In the
movie, Noah wrote to Allie 365 times in a year, even if his letters were left unanswered, he continued to write and wait patiently and eventually fix
himself for the better. These only teach us that when life puts us down we should work and perspire hard to be better person worthy of respect and
emulation.
The flash of realization is when Allie discovered that even if they parted ways for so long, Noah did not stop loving her. But since she is already
tied and scheduled to marry someone, she got to choose between Noah and her fiancГ©. This part of the movie leads to make crucial decision and
effect changes leading to the resolution of the conflict or dilemma. Of course, she choose Noah because she thinks that she will be a lot more happy
in Noah company over her more affluent fiancГ©. Another key moment is when her mother allowed Allie to choose what she thinks is best for her.
Even if on the starting part of the story, Allie and her mother always had misunderstandings, her mother let her to decide on her own and returned
Noah's letter over the years that passed. This part of the story resolves the conflict between Allie and her

Analytical Essay on "The Notebook" Film
In the early 1900's silent films amazed audiences with images, later talkies impressed with sound, today we have 3D. As technology continues to
evolve so too will film genres. Genres, while having some shared characteristics, also differ in terms of stylistic devices used. For instance, the dramatic
film "The Notebook" effectively uses color to reinforce theme and has plausible performers as the two main protagonists.
"The Notebook" directed by Nick Cassavetes in 2004 tells the story of a couple's fifty year long love affair and its trials and tribulations. The film
begins in a nursing home where an old man (Noah) reads a book to an old lady (Allie) suffering from Alzheimer's. Noah, a poor country boy, and
Allie, a rich city girl, meet...show more content...
Their facial expressions, gestures and movements make audiences empathize with the protagonists. In the scene of their first quarrel Rachel McAdams
cries, sobs, portrays despair and pleads to stay ,as realistically as if she feels her character's emotions. In scenes of happy moments she smiles and
laughs sincerely, like when she listens to Noah (Ryan Gosling) sitting next to her. Ryan Gosling also demonstrated his acting talents in the movie. His
character is very romantic and faithful and the actor expressed these traits very well. For instance, in the scene he first meets her he looks at her with
loving eyes, his eyebrows are raised a bit as he cannot stop admiring her. When other women try to talk to him, he lets them see their attempts are futile
via tone changes and hands crossed on his chest, which express his love and faithfulness. Such a realistic actors' performance reinforces the dramatic
plot.
Warm and pastel colors predominate in "The Notebook". The creators intended to reinforce the theme also by means of colors. Episodes, in which
Allie and Noah are together, have more white, beige, pink, light blue and green. For instance, Noah painted the house he restored in white color; the
sky is clear and blue when they are together. The white color of the house represents purity of Noah's love and his devotion to Allie, and the clear

reading to an elderly woman, Allie Hamilton. Allie has dementia, therefore has slowly been losing her memory. Duke reads the story of two lovers
(Allie and Noah) who meet in South Carolina at a carnival one summer night. Allie was a rich and privileged seventeen–year–old city girl. Noah,
however, was a small town country boy. The two spent the whole summer together but Allie was forced by her parents to move and go to college,
although she was willing to give it up for Noah. Noah wrote Allie 365 letters that she never received due to her mom hiding them from her. Seven
years later, Allie meets and falls inlove with a wealthy soldier named Lon. One day Allie came across Noah's picture in the paper next to a newly
restored house, a house that they had once shared a passion filled night in. Seeing Noah's picture in the paper drew Allie right back to him. They
ended up spending a couple of days together and towards the end Allie decides she does not want to leave. Allie has to choose between Noah and her
fiancГ©, Lon. The story then stops, and leads back to the nursing home. The now older, yet sickly Allie miraculously begins to remember that she was
the girl from the story. A day later, Allie and Noah were found dead in the same bed holding hands.
There are a couple of interpersonal relationship concepts presented in The Notebook. One

The Notebook By Nicholas Sparks Essay

  • 1. The Notebook By Nicholas Sparks Essay A romantic drama film is a genre that explores the difficult aspects that come with love. The plot usually includes two people that are in love that can't be together the way they want to be due to obstacles. The obstacles in a romantic drama film can include a family 's disapproval, to forbidden love, to one 's own psychological restrictions. The Notebook is a movie based on a best–selling novel that was written by author Nicholas Sparks. This is a love story that is composed of a series of obstacles between two young people that are madly in love with each other. It perfectly fits and displays the criteria for a successful romantic drama film because it includes the complexity of love, and elicits emotions. In The Notebook there are countless obstacles between the two main characters that are in love. This allows the movie to fit into the drama aspect of the genre, displaying the complexity of their love. Complex love includes the drama, and difficulties of a relationship, while still being closely connected to the romantic parts of a relationship. This is prevalent in The Notebook. Allie and Noah, played by well–known actors Rachel McAdams and Ryan Gosling, were two people from different social classes. Allie was from a wealthy, privileged upper–class family while Noah was making around 40 cents an hour at a lumber yard job. While love is not confined to the amount of money that each person has, in the 1940's, which is the setting of the movie, social class played an Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 2. The Notebook Movie Analysis Essay Film Analysis Throughout the movie, The Notebook, there were many different aspects that corresponded with the material learned throughout the semester. There were times were you were able to pin point why each problem was faced based on different character backgrounds. As began to watch the movie, you start to understand the culture aspects of each individual by the way they talk and present themselves, which caused many situations to arise. Also, these many situations arise throughout the movie that affected the outcome of decisions made: biological, psychological, and social /environment. However, diversity played a magnificent role from the beginning to the end. So, therefore, throughout this paper you will have a better understanding of the analysis of this film, which should provide information about the movie. Brief Description While watching the movie, there were many characters that played a magnificent role: Noah Calhoun, Allison "Allie" Hamilton, Fin and Sarah, Lon Hammond, Jr., Ann Hamilton, Frank Calhoun, John Hamilton, and Anne's ex boyfriend. During the beginning of the movie, Duke, an elderly man, began to read a story to a elderly women named Allie. Allie had dementia and Duke (Noah) was determined to regain her memory of their love and life together. The story began where they first met each other; Noah saw Allie on the Farris wheel and knew she was the one. He jumped on the Farris wheel while it was still in motion and begged Allie on a date till she Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 3. The Notebook Essay The Notebook is one of my favorite love movies of all time. The reason I love this movie so much is because that main characters Noah and Allie go through so many trials and finally end up together in the end. This movie I feel shows me how strong their love for each other really was and I now feel as if it is meant to be it will always find a way. Looking at the movie as a reference to get a better understanding of how lifespan development works, I realized that most of the trials that Noah and Allie went though were part of stages of development. The theory of stages of development was created by Erik Erikson, he believes that we go though certain stages in our life and if we do not get passed them properly we will end up with...show more content... Feeling happy about their choices in life I feel lead to a peaceful death because they had everything they ever wanted which was each other. In the middle of the movie Noah finds out by Allie mother that Allie and her parents want her to go to school in New York. I believe this to be stage five identity vs. identity confusion which happens during the adolescence part of people lives. Allie was trying to figure out who she really was. Allie did everything her parents told her to do because she wanted to please and make them proud of her. When Noah came along I think things changed for her because she was able to be herself around him and she was able to see what she really wanted. I think that trying to be someone for her parents led her to be confused about whom she was and what she wanted. I think that Noah had a better sense of who he was because he had to grow up a lot faster by this I mean he helped his father with the bills and he felt like a responsible adult. When Allie walked into Noah life he knew that he wanted to proved and be with her and let her go and grow in college while he worked. He thought that Allie wanted to go to school closer to where he was so that they can stay together. Yet Allie parents did not want her to be with Noah so they decided for Allie to go away to school in New York and Allie followed what her parents wanted because she was unsure of what she really wanted or how to stand up for it. Allie left for New York and got settled into collage. She started to meet new friends and was trying to adjust to her new life without Noah. Allie never received a letter from Noah and that broke her heart because she sill loved him and missed him. After a few years passed she met a young man named Lon and fell in love and got engaged. Her family loved Lon; he was from a very wealthy family and made a lot of money as a lawyer. They were all happy and were busy trying to get things ready for Allie and Lon's wedding. Noah still in North Carolina wrote Allie every day for a year and never got a response. He decided to go into the Army and then he had to leave for the war. During the war his best friend Fin was killed. After the war he went back home and found that his father sold the house, and gave Noah the money so that he could buy the house of his dreams and fix it up like he promised Allie. His father had gotten very sick and died, but Noah kept going and finished the house. Noah had a few girlfriends but he never forgot about Allie and probably never will. • 6. The Notebook Essay example The Notebook is a phenomenal film with incredible performances and many heartfelt moments from beginning to end. It is a love story that many of us fantasize of living someday. The story unfolds in recent times at a Nursing home with the introduction of an elderly lady (Gena Rowlands) who is being visited by an old man, known as Duke (James Garner), who also resides in the nursing home, and he's there to read her a story. He begins to read about a young girl named Allie (Rachel McAdams) who was visiting a cousin one summer in the late 1940s. Allie was a beautiful teenage girl who eventually caught the eye of Noah (Ryan Gosling), her cousin's boyfriend's best friend. Initially, she showed no interest in Noah, considering the fact...show more content... The film?s setting was in present and past scenarios, which made it very interesting. As the old man Duke read the story, in a past plot, and the story began to climax, he would be interrupted by someone in the nursing staff, bringing them back to the present. This lineup of events leads to a sense of curiosity as I began to wonder what these two plots have in relation. This curiosity will soon be fulfilled as the story develops, and the two plots start to intertwine. The director of this film did a fantastic job in combining these two plots, and giving the audience just enough time to figure out their relation. He didn?t give it away too soon, or so late that the story got boring or confusing. He also made very good use of underscoring (background music with no apparent source) in a previous scene where Allie and Noah where dancing alone in the middle on nowhere, to the sounds of Billie Holiday. This particular shot was a three minute continuous shot taken with a camera on a 300ft dolly track. The actors and actresses in this film did a remarkable job in playing their roles. The language and wardrobe fit the perfect description of a 40?s teenager. Now, this is what I call a love story. Based on the novel by Nicholas Sparks, The Notebook is most definitely the way a love story should be. This story doesn?t just say happily ever after at the end, it actually takes you there. • 7. Literary Analysis of The Notebook by Nicholas Sparks This book is a great book and it touches ones heart in ways you couldn't imagine. I seriously love this book because I love romantic stories and it's just so cute. The movie is good but the book is better. Well 'The Notebook' is about a journey of two young lovers Noah Calhoun and Allie Nelson who made a passionate summer romance and they were separated because Allie moved to the city. After fourteen years of separation due to World War 2 and class differences. Allie got engaged to a wealthy lawyer, Lon. One day Allie was looking through the newspaper and she spots Noah standing next to the plantation he restored. All of a sudden all these feelings started coming back from when...show more content... When she opened her eyes, she noticed that their boat was surrounded by Tundra Swans and Canada Geese. She was amazed of how beautiful it was but it was cut short because it began to rain. So Noah paddled as fast as he can to the plantation and he couldn?t help but realize how beautiful Allie looked wet in the rain. When they arrived at the plantation they ran into the house. Noah ran upstairs and gave Allie dry clothes. Then she was trapped in the house because she thought it was unsafe to drive in the rain. That night in the living room next to the fire Allie and Noah made love like they once did fourteen summers ago. Making up for their years apart, and slept in each others arms that night. The next day Allie?s mother warned her that Lon was here looking for her so Allie left Noah, leaving him as if she where to never see him again and went to face Lon. She told Lon everything and told him that her heart truly lied with Noah. Allie went back to Noah and later on they got married and had a whole bunch of kids and lived there whole lives together. But when they reached their senior years Allie was diagnosed with Alzheimer?s and it got worse through out the years so they moved to a home. Later on Allie forgot her life, forgot who she was, even forgot who Noah was. Everyday Noah would read to her and she would listen and sometimes she would remember as if she didn?t have the disease. One day as they where having a wonderful day also a dinner for two, Allie?s memory Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 8. The Notebook Book Review By Nicholas Sparks The Notebook Book Review Nicholas Sparks specializes in writing romance books that appeal to realistic readers. He takes his writings one step further by adding the elements of situations that occur in everyday life. In the very beginning of the book he dedicates the story to Cathy, who is identified as his "friend and wife."(Sparks 1). Because The Notebook is dedicated to the author's wife, one can infer that the theme of this novel deals with love, relationships and life. The dedication to Cathy basically mirrors everything else about the novel. It establishes the tone for the entire text. In fact, Sparks admitted himself that "The genesis of the novel was from [his] own family." So not only is The Notebook about Allie and Noah, it is also aboutNicholas Sparks and his wife Cathy. Nicholas Sparks reveals his story in two ways. In one way he tells the story through present day Allie and Noah and how they are both elderly living in an assisted care home. "There is sickness rolling through my body; I 'm neither strong nor healthy, and my days are spent like an old party balloon: listless, spongy and growing softer over time" (Sparks 2). The other way he tells the story is by reflecting upon the past, describing how Allie and Noah met one summer, fell in love, were separated, but somehow managed to find each other again. "Our souls are connected . . . I know I have spent everylife before this one searching for you . . .We will find each other again, and maybe the stars will Get more content on HelpWriting.net

  • 10. The Notebook Family Assessment Introduction Family plays a very important role in the health, development, and socialization of each individual member that belongs to the family unit. Bozette's words (as cited in Friedman, Bowden, and Jones, 2003) defines family as "who the patient says it is" (p. 10). This assessment is based on the movie "The notebook" and it illustrates the dramatic love story of two young adolescents that in time overcome the barriers that are brought on by the differences in family dynamics. Through this assessment, the different family dynamics will be depicted in order to understand how these influence each individual character and how they impact the actions and decisions that are made. The family's relationship appears to be characterized by love, trust, open–communication, and respect. Noah is an only child, quiet, and respectful, who has been raised by his father in a countryside home. He is well aware of the limitations that surround him both educational and financial, yet seems to be content. Additionally, he appears to be very secure with whom he is and optimistic in the way he views the future. His character as a son is manifested through his hard work at the lumberyard and reading poetry to his father in the evenings. Frank Calhoun is portrayed as a loving, nurturing parent that cooks for his son, thus, encourages and supports his son's autonomy; this can be viewed when he ultimately sells his home to buy Noah the Windsor property that he dreamed of rebuilding. Communication between father and son can be identified when Frank tells Noah that Allie was prettier than he had led on, leading to believe that previous conversations of this nature had occurred. The access to healthcare, one can presume was limited or non–existent, as Noah's father made a statement describing a stuttering condition in Noah's earlier years, which was treated through poetry reading (Cassevetes, 2004). Alley's family can best be described as a Get more content on HelpWriting.net

The movie which was originally a book by the author Nicholas Sparks, illustrates the life of Noah and Allie, a young couple in the South. This young couple share a single summer together, which does not last , because of social conflicts. They are reunited years later, for the rest of their lives. This film focuses on the unconditional love of an older man for his wife, regardless of her memory loss due to dementia. Noah reads aloud to the love of his life, convinced to bring her forgotten memories back. In his mind he believes that his words will get through to his wife, Allie. He believes in the possibility that she will remember their youthful relationship and the everlasting love. He spends each day reading to her from his old journal while she basically acts as if he is a stranger. The film is associated with Alzheimer's disease and its effect on the patient as well as the caregiver and the stress they endure throughout the process. This movie specifically overwhelms the viewers with emotional and persuasive images, leaving them open to vulnerability of romanticized and unrealistic visions of a true representation of the disease. • 16. The Notebook And How It Affects A Person's Life I spent a lot of time considering what movie I would watch to write this essay. I listed off the movies that I would like to watch again, and then I decided on The Notebook. I didn't really think I could write about adolescence or children, so I thought that, maybe, I could write about the elderly. The love story that The Notebook tells is truly amazing. I love watching this movie, although I cry every time I watch it. The Notebook is about an elderly man that tells the story of his life with the one he loves the most, his wife. He is telling the story to his wife, who has Alzheimer's Disease, which is a degenerative disease that affects a person's memory. She has no recollection of him or their life together, or even her own children....show more content... My favorite theorist was Erik Erikson, as it is my opinion that he was the one who was closest to explaining our developmental stages. He has eight stages that he talks about. I will be discussing his eighth and final stage, integrity vs despair. Erikson explains that in late adulthood, the 60's onward, is a time when older adults look back and reflect on their lives. His theory states that when they look back on their lives and find a life well spent and have a positive perspective about it then they have integrity (Santrock, 2013, p. 17). If they look back on their life and have a negative outlook about it or find doubt or gloom then they have the despair that Erikson talks about (Santrock, 2013, p. 17). When Noah, the elderly man who read the story to his wife, looks back and reflects on his life while telling the story to his wife, he has a positive outlook and knows he has had a life well spent, especially a life well spent with his wife, Allie. There was a time in his life when I am sure he wasn't happy, because Allie had moved away and for seven years they didn't see each other and the next time that Noah had seen her was when she was engaged with another man. He was miserable without her and had wrote her for a whole year and never heard anything back. But, even though he had that moment in his life, in the end he got Allie and looking back he had a very productive life; Noah had integrity. Allie has Alzheimer's Disease, so she doesn't remember the life that Get more content on HelpWriting.net

  • 18. Analytical Essay on "The Notebook" Film In the early 1900's silent films amazed audiences with images, later talkies impressed with sound, today we have 3D. As technology continues to evolve so too will film genres. Genres, while having some shared characteristics, also differ in terms of stylistic devices used. For instance, the dramatic film "The Notebook" effectively uses color to reinforce theme and has plausible performers as the two main protagonists. "The Notebook" directed by Nick Cassavetes in 2004 tells the story of a couple's fifty year long love affair and its trials and tribulations. The film begins in a nursing home where an old man (Noah) reads a book to an old lady (Allie) suffering from Alzheimer's. In the scene of their first quarrel Rachel McAdams cries, sobs, portrays despair and pleads to stay ,as realistically as if she feels her character's emotions. In scenes of happy moments she smiles and laughs sincerely, like when she listens to Noah (Ryan Gosling) sitting next to her. Ryan Gosling also demonstrated his acting talents in the movie. His character is very romantic and faithful and the actor expressed these traits very well. For instance, in the scene he first meets her he looks at her with loving eyes, his eyebrows are raised a bit as he cannot stop admiring her. When other women try to talk to him, he lets them see their attempts are futile via tone changes and hands crossed on his chest, which express his love and faithfulness. Such a realistic actors' performance reinforces the dramatic plot. Warm and pastel colors predominate in "The Notebook". The creators intended to reinforce the theme also by means of colors. Episodes, in which Allie and Noah are together, have more white, beige, pink, light blue and green. For instance, Noah painted the house he restored in white color; the sky is clear and blue when they are together. The white color of the house represents purity of Noah's love and his devotion to Allie, and the clear Get more content on HelpWriting.net
