Eight Habits Of Mind Essay
The Eight Habits of Mind are traits supposedly needed in order to be successful in school and life – eight characteristics that are essential in order to
achieve your goals. The first trait is curiosity – a characteristic that I definitely have. Part of being a teenager is struggling with your identity and
pondering your purpose. Questions that I find thinking about often is what is the meaning of life? Does a God really exist? How can humans
have the potential to be so evil and yet be peaceful and kind? Are we trapped by a predestined fate, or are we solely responsible for what happens in
our lives? Does everything happen for a reason? How can there be so much wealth and yet so much poverty in the world? I wish I knew the answers
to these questions. (Humans have a tendency to want to be able to know everything so that they can feel in...show more content...
I think I fall somewhere in the middle on this topic. I am set in my ways but I want to experience news things. I know what is important to me, and
what I like and don't like. These are the things that feel real to me. A different way of being or thinking seems like it exists only on another planet,
like it is so far away from me, because all I've ever experienced is my own way of living. I am pretty stubborn too, and unless I am looking to
change an aspect of my life, I typically won't consider a new way. I can also be pretty judgmental, which makes me less open too. I think the best
way to practice being more open is to try new things or to travel to another country and immerse yourself in a different culture. In my opinion, the
third trait of engagement is closely related to curiosity. Like I said earlier, if you are curious about something, you are involved and excited to learn
more. I am engaged when learning about something interesting. Engagement is important, because without it, you will soon find yourself falling
asleep when your math teacher is talking, or doze of while doing

My Favorite Kind Of Writing
As a child, I didn't really enjoy reading. To be honest, I don't believe many people did. The main reason why I didn't really enjoy reading is I wasn't
very good at it. In my early years of middle school, it always seemed as if everyone else around me was better. Reading has always intimidated me,
I never understood what I was 'actually reading'. If I could get away with not having to ever read, I would. Most of the time, I only read when I had
too. Which was usually at least once a week. My mom always encouraged my siblings and I to read to expand our vocabulary. At first, I thought it was
a waste of time. Over time, I actually noticed that the more I read, the better my writing became. My first book ever was about a fish. "One fish, Two

As I began to read this book, I started to realize I didn't want to put it down. Before I realized, I was reading the last page wishing it wasn't over. The
book brought me to a whole new world, yet I could still relate to so much. I made many connections with this book, and it helped me figure out certain
things about myself.
Chris Guillebeau brought the idea of finding purpose in life into perspective. This journey includes working to accomplish your goals and seeking out
to find adventure. This book enabled me to start setting goals for myself, and figuring out what I want to succeed in the next few years. One major
goal I had set for myself at the time was to graduate and continue to further my education. I had originally planned to attend Mississippi State, not
knowing that they didn't have a nursing program. I then found out senior year, and then planned to attend Kennesaw State. I want to pursue a
career in nursing. At first, the journey to this goal had seemed difficult. Chris Guillebeau stated in his book, "Not everyone needs to believe in
your dream, but you do". This quote made me realize that it really doesn't matter if other people believe if I can do it or not, but only if I believe if
I can do it. "Happiness of Pursuit" opened my eyes to see something very important. A lot of people link their happiness with something else, such as
love. We all want to receive love and give out love. This

My Husband Essay
I have met many people so far in this life, but the person I enjoy remembering the most is my husband Jeff. He was born and raised in Tennessee.
He is six feet tall, weighs two hundred sixty seven pounds,he has dark brown eyes, and such a nice smile. His hair is jet black with just a few
silver and white strands throughout. He is a very big and strong character of a man. And yet he is the most gentle, kind and caring man that I have
ever met. Jeff has a sexy southern drawl to his voice. The one person who has influenced my life greatly is my husband, the first reason being
because of his positive attitude, his intelligence, and the way he expresses his love. Jeff is a person who can be friends with anyone. He is always in a

Everyone that he has been in contact with always enjoys being around him. He has definitely complimented my attitude when it comes to my
outlook on life. He is an ideal role model for anyone that has met him. Jeff is one of the most gifted men that I have ever met. He displays his
intelligence throughout everyday endeavors in life. He is not only a book smart person, but he has more common sense than anyone I have ever
met. Anytime I ask him a question about something, he generally has the acceptable answer. Jeff has given me the courage to believe in myself,
even when I am faced with a task that I doubt I can accomplish. He has taught me no matter what happens, to never just give up, as long as I give
everything my all, I will never be defeated. He is the most caring man that I have ever known. He is the kind of person that would give you the
shirt off of his back. He is such a loving person when it comes to his kids. He teaches them lessons in life, which we feel there is not enough of
these days. When it comes to me, I could not ever feel more love than the love I feel from him. Jeff is so much more to me than a husband, he is my
best friend. He is one person who has influenced my life in a positive manner. He has helped me to understand many people and things, that before I
met him, I would have given up on. I am amazed at his capabilities of understanding about anything from a math problem to the

Good Parenting Essay
Good Parenting
What makes a good parent? People have always tired to find out the answer, because what makes a good parent makes a good family and what makes a
good family makes a good society and finally what makes a good society makes the world we live in a good one. Actually it is family where all the
social ills come from. It is family that predetermines what kind of society we will have tomorrow, because the society of tomorrow will be born to
and moulded in the family of today. So if we want to find out what makes a good parent and try to change the society we'll be living in we've got to
start right now. So let's start.
What makes a good parent? Many people think that it is impossible to answer this question, because what...show more content...
But as soon as children start feeling that their parents care too much, they try to get back at them and do just what their parents don't want them to do.
On the other hand kids who face lack of freedom may end up turning into introverts afraid to speak to other people or not as social (which is not a bad
thing though).
I believe that next thing any parent must not forget about is trust. Being consistent with your child is of paramount importance because that's how trust
is supported. Being consistent is not changing the rules half way through the game. Being consistent is not promising rewards that kids will never see.
Being consistent is not threatening punishment without carrying it through. From the very first day on Earth children put trust in their parents and it
must not be betrayed because once it is, once children find out they have been lied to, you will have to literally put yourself out to win it back.
Communication. Being able to communicate well builds confidence and charisma. Parents should not be afraid to talk to their children. They should
not jump down through their throat when they are curious about something either no matter how stupid it may seem. Parents should be able to look at
everyday things and events through the eyes of their children who are new in this world and have little knowledge of it. Everyday experiences can
give children a wonderful chance to explore and learn and it must not be taken from them by their

What makes a good teacher? Essay
In my opinion, a good teacher should be one who puts her heart into teaching. This is because only by doing so will the students feel their passion
and hard work. When a teacher strives hard for the students, students will put in their effort as well. If a teacher dislikes her job, goes to classes in a
bad mood, her teaching would also be affected and students would not be able to enjoy lessons as well.
Another point that makes a good teacher would be his/her patience. Teachers should not get upset or even worse, give up on the students who are not
so strong in their studies. Instead, they should have the patience to slowly coach them, give them extra lessons, and find different ways to encourage
them. Let them know that the teacher...show more content...
It would be better if the teacher is able to find common topics to chat with the students. This would let the students feel like they can relate better to the
teacher.
"You must not give up. I want to let you know that even if you're facing so many problems, and feel like there's no one to talk to, I'll be here for you.
Everyone else might want to be the sun that lights up your life, but I rather be the moon that guides you through your darkest hours. Let's strive hard
and work toward our goal together!" This was what my high school teacher told me 10 years ago and I have remembered it until now, and will
remember it for the next 10 years and so on.
I was once a problematic kid who mixed with bad company and flunk tests. I never thought about what I was going to do the next day, what more
when I grew up. Of course when I was younger, I had lots of dreams. I wanted to set up my own company, I wanted to be a teacher, I wanted to be
able to drive an airplane and the list went on. But as the years went by, they became less insignificant to me and soon, I forgot every single one of
those dreams and goals. I got to a new school and knew friends who smoke and took drugs. My grades started dropping from "A" to fails. But I did
not care. I could not be bothered by then. I went partying every night and got home drunk. What was the point of studying? My parents are

Who Are You As A Writer? Essay
When presented with the question, "who are you as a writer?", I was speechless at first. But after thinking about it, I realized who I am as a writer
has been influenced by so many different sponsors throughout my life and there was not a short, concrete answer. Brandt mentions that "literacy
is sponsored by people, institutions, and circumstances that both make it possible for a person to become literate and shape the way the person
actually acquires literacy." (Brandt 43) My attitude towards writing has been influenced by teachers, both negatively and positively, by my
mother, and by academic assignments over the years. My answer to the question can only be answered by a narrative of my writing life. I have
convinced myself that I am a terrible writer, and when presented with a writing assignment, I get anxious instantly. I see writing as a burden and a
huge obstacle that gets placed in my life. Academic writing is not fun, but something I value due to the fact that we are a grade driven society.
When writing, I write to the guidelines in order to receive points for the requested criteria. The reason being, I gave up on expressing my own ideas
because I had been shut down by so many teachers throughout my education. I tried to write down what came to my mind and put my own twist on
things, but that was not the "right" way to write papers. In order to make both my teachers and my grades happy, I wrote what they wanted to hear, and
even then I was not to the level they

My Writing Essay
My Writing
In the past four years, I have written many papers for various classes, enjoying some and others having to choke out words to write down. In this
memo I will describe my writing projects and how they made me become a better writer, and how they will continue to help develop me into a
becoming a more prosperous writer.
What I Really Learned in English 100
Well as a recent pupil of the Great McFadden I want to do all that I can to be on his good side, for he said that if I go one mile to meet him, he will go
two miles to meet me, which seems more that fair. As an assignment I am told that I have to write what I learned in English 100 and how that it

Having taken many writing classes I have learned many things about writing. I enjoy writing and can often write many pages about things that I am
interested in. I know that I have more learning to do about writing, and hopefully in the next couple weeks my knowledge of writing will have
expanded and my writing will have improved.
My Experience With Writing Arguments
I am unaware of any writing arguments. The only thing I can really think of is writing a research paper with the intent to change people's minds on a
certain subject. I remember researching for weeks in the library, looking through magazine after magazine. I had searched for enough information to
write a ten–page paper. The writing process of the paper took several weeks but when I had finished, all the hard work was worth the effort. I learned
many things from that course such as that you need to search for all the information you can because it is better to have too much information than not
enough. Also that course taught me many things about making references to the authors of the articles I used for my paper. I remember writing out
note card after note card and keeping all the necessary information about each book or magazine. That course taught me to become a better writer and
to respect how much detail really goes into a research paper like I had written. Other than that, I have not really had much experience in

It's Kind Of A Funny Story Essay
Over 350 million people suffer from depression worldwide. It's Kind of a Funny Story, written by Ned Vizzini, is a realistic fiction novel about a
high schooler named Craig Gilner who struggles with depression and suicidal thoughts. This story was a great read and for multiple reasons. Vizzini
does a great job of making Craig, the protagonist, a very interesting character, and the novel itself is very relatable to anyone who is/was a student.
Craig has many intriguing qualities that are hard to ignore. Ned Vizzini does a fantastic job on making sure the main character is not the least yet
boring. Craig struggles with lots of depression, but he is more than just a depressed teenage male. He is crazy smart, which is shown in a variety of
ways, from his school to the way he thinks things out. To show, Craig wants to get his lady friend Noelle alone in his room, but Craig's roommate,
Muqtada, is in there. He lures Muqtada out of his room for the first time ever by playing his favorite kind of Egyptian music. Craig...show more

Types of Intelligence Essay examples
Types of Intelligence The meaning of intelligence is a concept that varies across cultures and ideologies. According to psychologists "intelligence is the
capacity to understand the world, think rationally, and use resources effectively when faced with challenges." (Feldman, R. S. 2010). Due to the
different types of human capabilities, there are different types of human intelligence. Some intelligence is expressed mentally as in existential,
intrapersonal, and spatial intelligences. Existential intelligence is the capacity and inclination to consider and question philosophically. People with
this type of intelligence are very comfortable with concepts like the meaning of life, the purpose of death, and other realities. Intrapersonal...show more

Musical/Rhythmic intelligence is also physical intelligence. This form of intelligence is more than being able to keep accurate rhythm or play an
instrument. People with this type of intelligence think in musical terms, they live musically; music is a part of their being. Naturalist Intelligence: the
ability to discriminate among living things (plants, animals) and sensitivity to other features of the natural world (clouds, rock configurations) (Gardner
H. n.d.). Although, this type of intelligence was necessary for hunting and gathering civilizations; I believe that Jacque Cousteau had this type of
intelligence. The more familiar forms of intelligence are linguistic, interpersonal, and logical/mathematical intelligence. Linguistic intelligence is
necessary for authors, attorneys, and anyone whose bread and butter is made through language. Interpersonal intelligence is defined as the ability to
understand other people. Yet, I find that empathy, and wisdom must be included for the psychological definition of intelligence to exist, or instead of
solutions, problems can be created. I define wisdom as not just knowing what to do, but actually doing it. Logical or mathematical intelligence is an
innate ability to interact with mathematical and scientific principles. Practical intelligence is needed for success in careers that involve corporations,
the military, and other structured environments. Practical

My Favorite Kind Of Art
I'd loved art as a child and every moment I could I was drawing. I never knew of different types of art as a child, but I took an extreme liking to
theater or theatrics. In fact, my favorite thing to do was to copy the voices of the actors I heard. The voices I made always cause my younger sister
to laugh and left my family impressed. On the other hand, I couldn't be as outgoing with other people. It felt awkward, but it left no impression as
a kid, the adults condemn talking anyways. I'd assumed I was being the "good child' and the rest of the kids were just "bad kids." School made it
unmistakably clear that I was missing something. At recess, kids are at liberal to talk as much as they want, there no worries about inappropriately
speaking here or being the "bad kid." Still, as other kids laughed and shouted unrestrictedly I didn't talk; I was the lone wolf who only jumped rope.
Although I receive much appraisal in the class for my quietness, this wasn't always the case. Soon my, mom got calls home about my quietness and
it came up in school conferences. I I remember the weirdness of the classroom's emptiness during conferences. The walls were usually a dull tan
with dusty floor. I should know cause every day of school was a sneezing fest for me. The rooms were also silent with empties child graffiti desks
and tables, it felt like a prison. Don't get me wrong schools has always felt like prison, conferences confirm these feelings. As usual, my teachers sat
at their desks to say "She so quiet and it's hard to teach her" and " I'm worried about her participation." My mother replied always reply with "she isn't
shy" and "you should see her at home." I always felt guilty when these things came up. There was alway this huge lump in my throat and I instantly felt
my body become flustered with heat.
My mother claims were an inconvenience. I didn't like being quiet, but being told I wasn't shy invoked some confusion. I want to know why I was
like this, and if it wasn't due to shyness does that mean I've been simply faking it?
I thought maybe I was, I mean I did talk at home. I could've pretended just to sway people's thoughts of me. I took this idea and ran with it cause I
though it solve some of the missing

The Different Types of Media Essay
The Different Types of Media
I think that all different types of media have lots of different influences on society, especially individuals. There is an enormous variety of media
including; television, newspapers, radio, magazines, advertisements etc. It seems that the more developed that society gets, the harder it becomes to
escape media. One of the most common forms of media is advertisements.
Advertisements are not only one of the most common forms of media but also one of the most over–exposed types of media there is. This is because
advertisements appear in every single type of other media there is, therefore making advertisements are an essential way for people to 'advertise', or

From soaps, like Coronation Street, to documentaries, like a day to remember, there's something for all ages and makes it hard for people not to get
infected by this contagious disease. Some people might argue that television is a waste of time that could be better spent or that it displaces the brain of
useful information, when in fact these people are mistaken. With televisions powerful documentaries it encourages everyone to take an interest in
something and to learn about a passion or maybe teach them how to carry out a dream. Television actually develops and nurtures the mind. Even soaps
have a secret hidden agenda of teaching the viewer about topics some people are too scared to talk about or confront. For example a recent storyline in
Coronation Street about an emotional violent relationship shows that just because someone doesn't show bruises doesn't mean they aren't in a abusive
relationship. Soaps also feature stories of transvestites, child abductions, murders, child neglect etc. putting these on a television screen educates people
about everyday things that other people believe shouldn't be discussed.
Radio is another form of media, however it's less extreme. Radio generally reaches out to the younger generation with popular radio stations, like
Galaxy 102 and Key 103, they feature what is known as popular music, dance and R'n'B. it encourages

Types of Friends Essay
There are a lot of important things in life. However, one of the most important things for people to survive in this world is friendship. Without
friendship, people can die of loneliness. What do you think about your friends? Do you like your friends? There are a lot of different types of
friends. There are friends that I like and some friends with whom I do not get along. Friends with positive characteristics such as reliable, trustworthy
and faithful whom I usually get along with are the one that tend to have more friends and the negative one whom I usually not get along with tend to
be alone. However, friends with negative characteristic can also give us some good examples of seeing double sides of something, like, a character

They can learn to get some confidence because confidence is really important in order to perform better. Being an overconfident person is also
beneficial, as we won't get nervous easily and our performances will be better. This kind of person isn't scared to take some risks as they have trust
and confidence in themselves. This kind of person has potential to be a really successful person in the future. I have a friend that is really confident that
when he performed for a speech competition at school, he can speak fluently without any hesitation that made him the winner of the competition. We
can learn a lot from this kind of person. I learn that correct proportion of something, even the thing we take as something bad, before, can turn into
something good. We have to be able to measure how confident we can be while with friends and when the confidence is really needed. Being a
competitive person can be advantageous, as this kind of person wants to be the best in everything. As they want to be the best in everything, they will
work and study harder than any other people. They will try as hard as they can to be the best. As a result, they will get good marks on test or get an
extremely good job in the future. It is beneficial for them. For Example: I know that being a competitive person can be advantageous as I have a
friend that is competitive. She is so competitive that in every test, she will study as hard as she can. In every test, she managed to get the best scores

Eight Habits Of Mind Essay: Traits Needed For Success

  • 1. Eight Habits Of Mind Essay The Eight Habits of Mind are traits supposedly needed in order to be successful in school and life – eight characteristics that are essential in order to achieve your goals. The first trait is curiosity – a characteristic that I definitely have. Part of being a teenager is struggling with your identity and pondering your purpose. Questions that I find thinking about often is what is the meaning of life? Does a God really exist? How can humans have the potential to be so evil and yet be peaceful and kind? Are we trapped by a predestined fate, or are we solely responsible for what happens in our lives? Does everything happen for a reason? How can there be so much wealth and yet so much poverty in the world? I wish I knew the answers to these questions. (Humans have a tendency to want to be able to know everything so that they can feel in...show more content... I think I fall somewhere in the middle on this topic. I am set in my ways but I want to experience news things. I know what is important to me, and what I like and don't like. These are the things that feel real to me. A different way of being or thinking seems like it exists only on another planet, like it is so far away from me, because all I've ever experienced is my own way of living. I am pretty stubborn too, and unless I am looking to change an aspect of my life, I typically won't consider a new way. I can also be pretty judgmental, which makes me less open too. I think the best way to practice being more open is to try new things or to travel to another country and immerse yourself in a different culture. In my opinion, the third trait of engagement is closely related to curiosity. Like I said earlier, if you are curious about something, you are involved and excited to learn more. I am engaged when learning about something interesting. Engagement is important, because without it, you will soon find yourself falling asleep when your math teacher is talking, or doze of while doing Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 2. My Favorite Kind Of Writing As a child, I didn't really enjoy reading. To be honest, I don't believe many people did. The main reason why I didn't really enjoy reading is I wasn't very good at it. In my early years of middle school, it always seemed as if everyone else around me was better. Reading has always intimidated me, I never understood what I was 'actually reading'. If I could get away with not having to ever read, I would. Most of the time, I only read when I had too. Which was usually at least once a week. My mom always encouraged my siblings and I to read to expand our vocabulary. At first, I thought it was a waste of time. Over time, I actually noticed that the more I read, the better my writing became. My first book ever was about a fish. "One fish, Two ...show more content... As I began to read this book, I started to realize I didn't want to put it down. Before I realized, I was reading the last page wishing it wasn't over. The book brought me to a whole new world, yet I could still relate to so much. I made many connections with this book, and it helped me figure out certain things about myself. Chris Guillebeau brought the idea of finding purpose in life into perspective. This journey includes working to accomplish your goals and seeking out to find adventure. This book enabled me to start setting goals for myself, and figuring out what I want to succeed in the next few years. One major goal I had set for myself at the time was to graduate and continue to further my education. I had originally planned to attend Mississippi State, not knowing that they didn't have a nursing program. I then found out senior year, and then planned to attend Kennesaw State. I want to pursue a career in nursing. At first, the journey to this goal had seemed difficult. Chris Guillebeau stated in his book, "Not everyone needs to believe in your dream, but you do". This quote made me realize that it really doesn't matter if other people believe if I can do it or not, but only if I believe if I can do it. "Happiness of Pursuit" opened my eyes to see something very important. A lot of people link their happiness with something else, such as love. We all want to receive love and give out love. • 3. My Husband Essay I have met many people so far in this life, but the person I enjoy remembering the most is my husband Jeff. He was born and raised in Tennessee. He is six feet tall, weighs two hundred sixty seven pounds,he has dark brown eyes, and such a nice smile. His hair is jet black with just a few silver and white strands throughout. He is a very big and strong character of a man. And yet he is the most gentle, kind and caring man that I have ever met. Jeff has a sexy southern drawl to his voice. The one person who has influenced my life greatly is my husband, the first reason being because of his positive attitude, his intelligence, and the way he expresses his love. Jeff is a person who can be friends with anyone. He is always in a ...show more content... Everyone that he has been in contact with always enjoys being around him. He has definitely complimented my attitude when it comes to my outlook on life. He is an ideal role model for anyone that has met him. Jeff is one of the most gifted men that I have ever met. He displays his intelligence throughout everyday endeavors in life. He is not only a book smart person, but he has more common sense than anyone I have ever met. Anytime I ask him a question about something, he generally has the acceptable answer. Jeff has given me the courage to believe in myself, even when I am faced with a task that I doubt I can accomplish. He has taught me no matter what happens, to never just give up, as long as I give everything my all, I will never be defeated. He is the most caring man that I have ever known. He is the kind of person that would give you the shirt off of his back. He is such a loving person when it comes to his kids. He teaches them lessons in life, which we feel there is not enough of these days. When it comes to me, I could not ever feel more love than the love I feel from him. Jeff is so much more to me than a husband, he is my best friend. He is one person who has influenced my life in a positive manner. He has helped me to understand many people and things, that before I met him, I would have given up on. I am amazed at his capabilities of understanding about anything from a math problem to the Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 4. Good Parenting Essay Good Parenting What makes a good parent? People have always tired to find out the answer, because what makes a good parent makes a good family and what makes a good family makes a good society and finally what makes a good society makes the world we live in a good one. Actually it is family where all the social ills come from. It is family that predetermines what kind of society we will have tomorrow, because the society of tomorrow will be born to and moulded in the family of today. So if we want to find out what makes a good parent and try to change the society we'll be living in we've got to start right now. So let's start. What makes a good parent? Many people think that it is impossible to answer this question, because what...show more content... But as soon as children start feeling that their parents care too much, they try to get back at them and do just what their parents don't want them to do. On the other hand kids who face lack of freedom may end up turning into introverts afraid to speak to other people or not as social (which is not a bad thing though). I believe that next thing any parent must not forget about is trust. Being consistent with your child is of paramount importance because that's how trust is supported. Being consistent is not changing the rules half way through the game. Being consistent is not promising rewards that kids will never see. Being consistent is not threatening punishment without carrying it through. From the very first day on Earth children put trust in their parents and it must not be betrayed because once it is, once children find out they have been lied to, you will have to literally put yourself out to win it back. Communication. Being able to communicate well builds confidence and charisma. Parents should not be afraid to talk to their children. They should not jump down through their throat when they are curious about something either no matter how stupid it may seem. Parents should be able to look at everyday things and events through the eyes of their children who are new in this world and have little knowledge of it. Everyday experiences can give children a wonderful chance to explore and learn and it must not be taken from them by their Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 5. What makes a good teacher? Essay In my opinion, a good teacher should be one who puts her heart into teaching. This is because only by doing so will the students feel their passion and hard work. When a teacher strives hard for the students, students will put in their effort as well. If a teacher dislikes her job, goes to classes in a bad mood, her teaching would also be affected and students would not be able to enjoy lessons as well. Another point that makes a good teacher would be his/her patience. Teachers should not get upset or even worse, give up on the students who are not so strong in their studies. Instead, they should have the patience to slowly coach them, give them extra lessons, and find different ways to encourage them. Let them know that the teacher...show more content... It would be better if the teacher is able to find common topics to chat with the students. This would let the students feel like they can relate better to the teacher. "You must not give up. I want to let you know that even if you're facing so many problems, and feel like there's no one to talk to, I'll be here for you. Everyone else might want to be the sun that lights up your life, but I rather be the moon that guides you through your darkest hours. Let's strive hard and work toward our goal together!" This was what my high school teacher told me 10 years ago and I have remembered it until now, and will remember it for the next 10 years and so on. I was once a problematic kid who mixed with bad company and flunk tests. I never thought about what I was going to do the next day, what more when I grew up. Of course when I was younger, I had lots of dreams. I wanted to set up my own company, I wanted to be a teacher, I wanted to be able to drive an airplane and the list went on. But as the years went by, they became less insignificant to me and soon, I forgot every single one of those dreams and goals. I got to a new school and knew friends who smoke and took drugs. My grades started dropping from "A" to fails. But I did not care. I could not be bothered by then. I went partying every night and got home drunk. What was the point of studying? My parents are Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 6. Who Are You As A Writer? Essay When presented with the question, "who are you as a writer?", I was speechless at first. But after thinking about it, I realized who I am as a writer has been influenced by so many different sponsors throughout my life and there was not a short, concrete answer. Brandt mentions that "literacy is sponsored by people, institutions, and circumstances that both make it possible for a person to become literate and shape the way the person actually acquires literacy." (Brandt 43) My attitude towards writing has been influenced by teachers, both negatively and positively, by my mother, and by academic assignments over the years. My answer to the question can only be answered by a narrative of my writing life. I have convinced myself that I am a terrible writer, and when presented with a writing assignment, I get anxious instantly. I see writing as a burden and a huge obstacle that gets placed in my life. Academic writing is not fun, but something I value due to the fact that we are a grade driven society. When writing, I write to the guidelines in order to receive points for the requested criteria. The reason being, I gave up on expressing my own ideas because I had been shut down by so many teachers throughout my education. I tried to write down what came to my mind and put my own twist on things, but that was not the "right" way to write papers. In order to make both my teachers and my grades happy, I wrote what they wanted to hear, and even then I was not to the level they Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 7. My Writing Essay My Writing In the past four years, I have written many papers for various classes, enjoying some and others having to choke out words to write down. In this memo I will describe my writing projects and how they made me become a better writer, and how they will continue to help develop me into a becoming a more prosperous writer. What I Really Learned in English 100 Well as a recent pupil of the Great McFadden I want to do all that I can to be on his good side, for he said that if I go one mile to meet him, he will go two miles to meet me, which seems more that fair. As an assignment I am told that I have to write what I learned in English 100 and how that it prepared me for English 200. Well sincehonesty is the best way of...show more content... Having taken many writing classes I have learned many things about writing. I enjoy writing and can often write many pages about things that I am interested in. I know that I have more learning to do about writing, and hopefully in the next couple weeks my knowledge of writing will have expanded and my writing will have improved. My Experience With Writing Arguments I am unaware of any writing arguments. The only thing I can really think of is writing a research paper with the intent to change people's minds on a certain subject. I remember researching for weeks in the library, looking through magazine after magazine. I had searched for enough information to write a ten–page paper. The writing process of the paper took several weeks but when I had finished, all the hard work was worth the effort. I learned many things from that course such as that you need to search for all the information you can because it is better to have too much information than not enough. Also that course taught me many things about making references to the authors of the articles I used for my paper. I remember writing out note card after note card and keeping all the necessary information about each book or magazine. That course taught me to become a better writer and to respect how much detail really goes into a research paper like I had written. Other than that, I have not really had much experience in

It's Kind of a Funny Story, written by Ned Vizzini, is a realistic fiction novel about a high schooler named Craig Gilner who struggles with depression and suicidal thoughts. This story was a great read and for multiple reasons. Vizzini does a great job of making Craig, the protagonist, a very interesting character, and the novel itself is very relatable to anyone who is/was a student. Craig has many intriguing qualities that are hard to ignore. Ned Vizzini does a fantastic job on making sure the main character is not the least yet boring. • 10. Types of Intelligence Essay examples Types of Intelligence The meaning of intelligence is a concept that varies across cultures and ideologies. According to psychologists "intelligence is the capacity to understand the world, think rationally, and use resources effectively when faced with challenges." (Feldman, R. S. 2010). Due to the different types of human capabilities, there are different types of human intelligence. Some intelligence is expressed mentally as in existential, intrapersonal, and spatial intelligences. Existential intelligence is the capacity and inclination to consider and question philosophically. People with this type of intelligence are very comfortable with concepts like the meaning of life, the purpose of death, and other realities. Intrapersonal...show more content... Musical/Rhythmic intelligence is also physical intelligence. This form of intelligence is more than being able to keep accurate rhythm or play an instrument. People with this type of intelligence think in musical terms, they live musically; music is a part of their being. Naturalist Intelligence: the ability to discriminate among living things (plants, animals) and sensitivity to other features of the natural world (clouds, rock configurations) (Gardner H. n.d.). Although, this type of intelligence was necessary for hunting and gathering civilizations; I believe that Jacque Cousteau had this type of intelligence. The more familiar forms of intelligence are linguistic, interpersonal, and logical/mathematical intelligence. Linguistic intelligence is necessary for authors, attorneys, and anyone whose bread and butter is made through language. Interpersonal intelligence is defined as the ability to understand other people. Yet, I find that empathy, and wisdom must be included for the psychological definition of intelligence to exist, or instead of solutions, problems can be created. I define wisdom as not just knowing what to do, but actually doing it. Logical or mathematical intelligence is an innate ability to interact with mathematical and scientific principles. Practical intelligence is needed for success in careers that involve corporations, the military, and other structured environments. Practical Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 11. My Favorite Kind Of Art I'd loved art as a child and every moment I could I was drawing. I never knew of different types of art as a child, but I took an extreme liking to theater or theatrics. In fact, my favorite thing to do was to copy the voices of the actors I heard. The voices I made always cause my younger sister to laugh and left my family impressed. On the other hand, I couldn't be as outgoing with other people. It felt awkward, but it left no impression as a kid, the adults condemn talking anyways. I'd assumed I was being the "good child' and the rest of the kids were just "bad kids." School made it unmistakably clear that I was missing something. At recess, kids are at liberal to talk as much as they want, there no worries about inappropriately speaking here or being the "bad kid." Still, as other kids laughed and shouted unrestrictedly I didn't talk; I was the lone wolf who only jumped rope. Although I receive much appraisal in the class for my quietness, this wasn't always the case. Soon my, mom got calls home about my quietness and it came up in school conferences. I I remember the weirdness of the classroom's emptiness during conferences. The walls were usually a dull tan with dusty floor. I should know cause every day of school was a sneezing fest for me. The rooms were also silent with empties child graffiti desks and tables, it felt like a prison. Don't get me wrong schools has always felt like prison, conferences confirm these feelings. As usual, my teachers sat at their desks to say "She so quiet and it's hard to teach her" and " I'm worried about her participation." My mother replied always reply with "she isn't shy" and "you should see her at home." I always felt guilty when these things came up. There was alway this huge lump in my throat and I instantly felt my body become flustered with heat. My mother claims were an inconvenience. I didn't like being quiet, but being told I wasn't shy invoked some confusion. I want to know why I was like this, and if it wasn't due to shyness does that mean I've been simply faking it? I thought maybe I was, I mean I did talk at home. I could've pretended just to sway people's thoughts of me. I took this idea and ran with it cause I though it solve some of the missing Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 12. The Different Types of Media Essay The Different Types of Media I think that all different types of media have lots of different influences on society, especially individuals. There is an enormous variety of media including; television, newspapers, radio, magazines, advertisements etc. It seems that the more developed that society gets, the harder it becomes to escape media. One of the most common forms of media is advertisements. Advertisements are not only one of the most common forms of media but also one of the most over–exposed types of media there is. This is because advertisements appear in every single type of other media there is, therefore making advertisements are an essential way for people to 'advertise', or make...show more content... From soaps, like Coronation Street, to documentaries, like a day to remember, there's something for all ages and makes it hard for people not to get infected by this contagious disease. Some people might argue that television is a waste of time that could be better spent or that it displaces the brain of useful information, when in fact these people are mistaken. With televisions powerful documentaries it encourages everyone to take an interest in something and to learn about a passion or maybe teach them how to carry out a dream. Television actually develops and nurtures the mind. Even soaps have a secret hidden agenda of teaching the viewer about topics some people are too scared to talk about or confront. For example a recent storyline in Coronation Street about an emotional violent relationship shows that just because someone doesn't show bruises doesn't mean they aren't in a abusive relationship. Soaps also feature stories of transvestites, child abductions, murders, child neglect etc. putting these on a television screen educates people about everyday things that other people believe shouldn't be discussed. Radio is another form of media, however it's less extreme. Radio generally reaches out to the younger generation with popular radio stations, like Galaxy 102 and Key 103, they feature what is known as popular music, dance and R'n'B. it encourages Get more content on HelpWriting.net

Without friendship, people can die of loneliness. What do you think about your friends? Do you like your friends? There are a lot of different types of friends. There are friends that I like and some friends with whom I do not get along. Friends with positive characteristics such as reliable, trustworthy and faithful whom I usually get along with are the one that tend to have more friends and the negative one whom I usually not get along with tend to be alone. However, friends with negative characteristic can also give us some good examples of seeing double sides of something, like, a character can be...show more content... Being an overconfident person is also beneficial, as we won't get nervous easily and our performances will be better. This kind of person isn't scared to take some risks as they have trust and confidence in themselves. This kind of person has potential to be a really successful person in the future. I have a friend that is really confident that when he performed for a speech competition at school, he can speak fluently without any hesitation that made him the winner of the competition. We can learn a lot from this kind of person. I learn that correct proportion of something, even the thing we take as something bad, before, can turn into something good. We have to be able to measure how confident we can be while with friends and when the confidence is really needed. Being a competitive person can be advantageous, as this kind of person wants to be the best in everything. As they want to be the best in everything, they will work and study harder than any other people. They will try as hard as they can to be the best. As a result, they will get good marks on test or get an extremely good job in the future. It is beneficial for them. For Example: I know that being a competitive person can be advantageous as I have a friend that is competitive. She is so competitive that in every test, she will study as hard as she can.
