Transforming a Company's
Operational Model for Future Success
Throughout his career, Newton has faced numerous
challenges, but the most significant risk he undertook
was leading a complete overhaul of a company's
opera onal model during a cri cal financial juncture.
While conven onal wisdom may have suggested a
conserva ve approach, Newton believed that achieving a
paradigm shi required bold and transforma ve ac on.
The stakes were enormous. The company faced poten al revenue
losses, stakeholder dissent, and the daun ng task of retraining
the en re workforce for a new paradigm. However, Newton
maintained an unwavering belief that the future depended on
innova on and agility, and the exis ng model would render them
obsolete.
The journey was filled with hurdles, sleepless nights, and
moments of doubt. Nevertheless, as they persevered, the
changes began to yield posi ve results. Today, while recognizing
the gamble of that decision, Newton also views it as a testament
to the power of visionary leadership, trust in one's team, and the
courage to venture into unfamiliar territories in pursuit of long-
term success.

Newton Queiroz, Chief Executive Officer currently of
the Brazilian subsidiary of the largest assistance
company in the globe, Europ Assistance, which has been
increasing (in Brazil) since he took the position & is
currently believed to be between number one and two
(there are no official studies in the local market). Queiroz
is a seasoned executive with an impressive career
spanning more than twenty-five years. His professional
journey has encompassed both national and multinational
companies, where he has consistently demonstrated a
remarkable ability to craft strategies that optimize
various facets of business operations, which earned him
the respect of an executive with a positive track record
that delivers the results in different environments and
cultures. Also valid to mention that Newton has work in
different sides of the industry, dealt with complex claims,
was underwriter for off shore / aviation / liability, and
participate of the placement of the largest account of
Brazil in the open market in 2007.
As a CEO, Newton has lead teams of different sizes, as
he has worked in green field operations, turn around
operations and transformational operations. Currently,
he directly leads a team of eight hundred employees
(directly hired by the company), but also needs to deal
with nonexclusive providers where the numbers are
north of ten thousand people. In the current project, he
has been hired to transform the company by what he
says, “to take it from an Oil Tanker to a Sailboat – being
as light as possible, fast, adaptable and where teamwork
makes the difference.”
Newton's leadership involves initiatives focused on
digital transformation, innovation, the continuous
development of professionals, the
creation/testing/deployment of new products, research &
development in all fields that can touch the industry,
staying abreast of market trends & being a hands-on
present leader. As such, Newton is focusing on actions
aimed at repositioning the company's culture, climate,
and people, thereby enhancing the overall organizational
environment, which is crucial for sustainable growth. In
a very summarized way, THE FOCUS ON
ADAPTABILITY, which for him is key currently to all
of us in our life.
Beyond the executive role, Newton also works as board
member, both administrative and consultive, different

Newton is also the Vice-President of the National Association of
Microinsurance (ANM) and is constantly requested to share his expertise
via articles he writes for the specialized insurance media.
Throughout his career, Newton has exhibited a keen aptitude for enhancing
human development, refining brand positioning, and driving tangible &
stable results. His strategic prowess extends on fostering innovation in
service delivery, orchestrating successful product launches, work in
continuous improving management (including himself) & delivering the
basic right and with excellence or in his words “In any industries, a
company will sell a product or service, which is expected to deliver at a
certain standard, and this standard is what I refer as doing the basic right,
as such delivering the basic ris key and many companies miss that. How
many times have you enter a restaurant and left because no one came to
talk to you and see what you wanted? The same here, we can only exceed
when the menu arrives and the first order is taken.”
Due to this importance, Queiroz is currently in the floor, answering clients,
solving Issues with the team and have a direct line with the quality area to
see complains and more complex cases.
Such efforts are underpinned by an unwavering commitment to delivering
an exceptional customer experience; which in Newton view can always be
better.
Newton possesses a holistic perspective on the critical drivers of large-
scale business success. He is instrumental in shaping and executing short-,
medium, and long-term strategic plans that chart the course for
organizational sustainable financial and work force growth. Moreover, he
collaborates closely with his whole team (horizontal leading style) to

The happiest part of Newton's daily routine is spending time with his
family. He enjoys having dinner with his wife and talking about her job as
an integrative therapist and playing with his son, cherishing these moments
to the maximum. Also, he put a lot of focus on his health, working out
daily and maintaining a healthy diet, as without a mind and body in good
conditions, one has a harder time delivering.

To begin, you must identify your values and your
definition of success. Following that, mindset is

Duke Kimhan is the successful business visionary
who gained this approach. He is a real estate broker
specializing in investment homes, condos, military
relocations, 1031 tax swaps, and commercial
properties, was born and raised in Honolulu and grew
up in Manoa Valley. He is now the HIPacific Property
Management's Principal Broker.
Duke originally bought and sold his own houses
before becoming a broker himself. He has worked as a
property broker with Coldwell Banker in Florida,
Realty Experts in Hawaii, and Condo.Com in Hawaii.
His newest challenge is managing the HiPacific
Property Management division with his team.
Real estate brought excitement and diversity with
different people, buyers, and sellers each day. After
returning to Honolulu from Florida due to a divorce,
Duke found property management to be consistent. A
fellow realtor suggested he focus on property
management full-time, and he made the switch in

Success through the Journey
Duke has experienced significant personal growth
over the years, particularly in his ability to be patient
with the notion of "perfection." He has come to
understand that certain levels of perfection are
simply unattainable. Duke has a strong preference
for cleanliness and strives to maintain a tidy
environment at all times.
Having grown up in Honolulu, sports played a major
role in Duke's life. However, at the age of 19, he
made the decision to move to the mainland and
explore various job opportunities. Eventually, Duke
set his sights on the restaurant industry, starting five
different concepts and later selling them.
Duke chose to work for chain restaurants for several
years, and it was during this time that his

The Journey of Learning and
Transformation
When Kirsty finished high school,
she moved to Cape Town to study
"Travel and Tourism" and then began
working right away for Wynberg
Travel, a travel company that
specializes in business travel in
South Africa. A year or so later, a
position opened in the incentive
travel division of her company,
which was providing corporate
incentives for big multinational
corporations abroad and to South
Africa's Indian Ocean Islands. After
working there for a few years, Kirsty
was recruited by another
incentive/events management
business that specialized in inbound
incentive travel to South Africa.
There were 60 to 350 people in each
of these groups. Kirsty was engaged
in organizing everything from
lodging to travel plans to setting up
and preparing the special events to
providing gifts for the attendees. She
then decided it was time to start her
own company, which was an online
travel company focusing on inbound
travel to Africa, and at the same time,
Kirsty started an overland ''glamp
camping'' safari and guided small
exclusive groups into Botswana and

Kirsty then took a break and headed
to the UK for 4 years to ride horses
professionally and try and qualify for
the 2008 Beijing Olympics to ride for
South Africa as an individual in 3-
Day Equestrian Eventing. Sadly, due
to a fall, she missed the last three
qualifications and didn't get the
opportunity to represent her country,
South Africa. However, she had the
most incredible 4 years riding for
Jane Holderness Roddam, who was
her sponsor and mentor in the sport.
Kirsty returned to South Africa end
of 2008, just as the Soccer World
Cup was coming to South Africa in
2009. She started Anywhere in
Africa Safaris while at the same time
helping another company who was
focused on YPO events (Young
President Organization).
During this time, she organized and
oversaw a few YPO trips to South
Africa, including a private event with
Helen Zilla, the premier of Cape
Town at the time, a private boat trip
to Robben Island with Ahmed
Kathrada, who was imprisoned
alongside Nelson Mandela (sadly,
Ahmed died on June 16, 1999), and a
private dinner with the country's
former president FW De Klerk. She
also organized a high-end art trip for
South African Friends of the Israel
Museum.
Kirsty ultimately decided to leave the
huge corporate incentive market in
2014 and concentrate her efforts and

Passion For Travel and For Africa
When Kirsty returned to South Africa
in 2008 after her Olympic Dream in
the UK did not pan out, she had to
think long and hard about whether
she wanted to work in the travel
industry—part of her thought was
that she should go and study
something completely different. This
was the ''road crossing'' in her life.
She shares, "What I decided is that I
love Africa, I love people, I love
travel, and I love offering service and
creating once in a lifetime travel
ideas for people to enjoy Africa—so
why was I trying to reinvent the
wheel and do something else."
Kirsty made the decision to found

goal of providing clients who wanted

From Adversity to Triumph
Luke is a normal guy of 23 years old, that start his online
business career when he was 20. In the past Luke doesn't
had a very good time… his situation it was like: Debt, no
money, no friends and bad situation at university… so he
spent bad times with himself.
But from this bad situation and difficult things, Luke
found from him the strengthens to wake up and start to

A Story of Success
Robert Nichols likes to consider himself a common person. He is one of those
individuals who truly started from scratch and was fortunate enough that his
efforts and a little bit of good fortune allowed him to achieve success. He's been
running his school and business for more than 20 years. After five years of
running it, he bought it. Running a business is different from studying martial
arts. He had no formal training at all in managing the firm. But he's always been
open to picking things up and adapting. In his opinion, the most significant thing
is that he has changed and evolved. He thinks this is the key to longevity in a
sector like the martial arts, where tradition is so important that many schools
and teachers don't change or adapt.

Union UTA Martial Arts was a highly
typical TKD school when it first
opened its doors in 2001. Robert
genuinely thinks they wouldn't be here
today if things had continued that way.
Evolution is a theory that Mr. Nichols
and his team firmly support. Now, they
consider themselves to be a modern
martial arts program. They are a self-
defense and personal development
school, not an "MMA" or "sport
karate" academy. It's different now than
it was even a few years ago, and
Robert thinks it will be different in a
few years. Evolution is crucial.
The only SAMI Combat Systems
School in the Western Hemisphere is
there as well. SAMICS is a highly
renowned martial arts organization in
Europe that was established in Vienna,
Austria by Peter Weckauf. It is a
modular system that covers a range of
combat topics, including street self-
defense, law enforcement tactics, knife
combat, axe combat, and more.
Wears Many Hats
Robert Nichols has multiple hats to
wear, just like any other business
owner. He can be involved in
maintenance, cleaning, sales calls,
marketing, or customer service
depending on the day. But in his
situation, it also entails being a teacher
and a motivator. His role as a motivator
is the most crucial one. It encourages
learners to put forth more effort and
accomplish more. Staff members are
inspired to work hard and with
discipline to teach others. Parents who
are monitoring lessons are encouraged
to develop confidence and trust that
they are allocating their time and
resources wisely.
Robert keeps a daily task checklist app
on his phone. There are things he needs
to do to see if he followed a healthy
diet that day and if he met his daily
step goal. He is reminded to post on
social media on particular days. Mr.
Nichols believes that the three most
important tasks he checks off each day
are to create a positive moment with
his wife, his child, and did he work to
improve his school.
Therefore, these chores force him to
pause and reflect towards the end of
the day when he is at home and sitting
down, scrolling through his phone and
his tasks for the day.
Accountable for Growth
Robert believes that training more
leaders is always advantageous to
companies. He thinks that leaders can
take many different shapes and that the
qualities of one can counteract the
weaknesses of another. Additionally,
because different people lead in
various ways, having more developed
leaders at a company increases the
likelihood that you will have the best
person for each job.
Robert believes that creating strong
leaders will enable his company to
serve more students more effectively.
On some days, there are 30 to 40
students in each session on the floor.
However, managing the group is
simple if they have 10–12 strong,
established members of the Leadership
Team. It wasn't until much later in life
that Robert realized the importance of
education. He therefore makes a great
effort to continually read, listen to, and
take in things that will help. He
therefore makes a concerted effort to
constantly study, listen to, and watch
materials that advance his
development. However, he believes
that consistently holding himself
accountable is the most crucial thing he
does. If he isn't continuously holding
himself accountable for improvement,
he can't expect students to follow his
instructions or others to invest their
time and money in his program.

The Urban Leaders Fellowship
(ULF) is a program that aims to
develop professionals from diverse
backgrounds, regardless of their

Participants are paired with local or
state elected/appointed officials, with
the goal of enacting policy changes
within a two-year timeframe. ULF
operates in ten cities across the
United States: Atlanta, Dallas,
Denver, Indianapolis, Kansas City,
Nashville, New Orleans, Tulsa,
Oakland, and Washington, DC.
ULF recognizes that creating more
equitable communities requires the
inclusion of voices and perspectives
from all citizens who are willing to
join its program each summer. Over
the past decade, ULF has welcomed
a wide range of professionals,
including teachers, attorneys,
underwriters, public relations
analysts, medical students,
anthropologists, architects,
entrepreneurs, and many others, who
have successfully completed its
fellowship. Together, they have

Also valid to mention that Newton has work in different sides of the industry, dealt with complex claims, was underwriter for off shore / aviation / liability, and participate of the placement of the largest account of Brazil in the open market in 2007. As a CEO, Newton has lead teams of different sizes, as he has worked in green field operations, turn around operations and transformational operations. Currently, he directly leads a team of eight hundred employees (directly hired by the company), but also needs to deal with nonexclusive providers where the numbers are north of ten thousand people. The Journey of Learning and Transformation When Kirsty finished high school, she moved to Cape Town to study "Travel and Tourism" and then began working right away for Wynberg Travel, a travel company that specializes in business travel in South Africa. A year or so later, a position opened in the incentive travel division of her company, which was providing corporate incentives for big multinational corporations abroad and to South Africa's Indian Ocean Islands. After working there for a few years, Kirsty was recruited by another incentive/events management business that specialized in inbound incentive travel to South Africa. There were 60 to 350 people in each of these groups. Kirsty was engaged in organizing everything from lodging to travel plans to setting up and preparing the special events to providing gifts for the attendees. She then decided it was time to start her own company, which was an online travel company focusing on inbound travel to Africa, and at the same time, Kirsty started an overland ''glamp camping'' safari and guided small exclusive groups into Botswana and the Okavango Delta. Kirsty then took a break and headed to the UK for 4 years to ride horses professionally and try and qualify for the 2008 Beijing Olympics to ride for South Africa as an individual in 3- Day Equestrian Eventing. Sadly, due to a fall, she missed the last three qualifications and didn't get the opportunity to represent her country, South Africa. However, she had the most incredible 4 years riding for Jane Holderness Roddam, who was her sponsor and mentor in the sport. Kirsty returned to South Africa end of 2008, just as the Soccer World Cup was coming to South Africa in 2009. She started Anywhere in Africa Safaris while at the same time helping another company who was focused on YPO events (Young President Organization). During this time, she organized and oversaw a few YPO trips to South Africa, including a private event with Helen Zilla, the premier of Cape Town at the time, a private boat trip to Robben Island with Ahmed Kathrada, who was imprisoned alongside Nelson Mandela (sadly, Ahmed died on June 16, 1999), and a private dinner with the country's former president FW De Klerk. She also organized a high-end art trip for South African Friends of the Israel Museum.   • 33. From Adversity to Triumph Luke is a normal guy of 23 years old, that start his online business career when he was 20. In the past Luke doesn't had a very good time… his situation it was like: Debt, no money, no friends and bad situation at university… so he spent bad times with himself. But from this bad situation and difficult things, Luke found from him the strengthens to wake up and start to discover a method for earning online, without money, knowledge and too much time to invest. He bought a lot of courses for thousands and thousands of dollars but the results didn't arrive… so from this experience, he learn an important lesson: It's better to have own method for earn online and don't use the old method that everyone today use. Robert genuinely thinks they wouldn't be here today if things had continued that way. Evolution is a theory that Mr. Nichols and his team firmly support. Now, they consider themselves to be a modern martial arts program. They are a self- defense and personal development school, not an "MMA" or "sport karate" academy. It's different now than it was even a few years ago, and Robert thinks it will be different in a few years. Evolution is crucial. The only SAMI Combat Systems School in the Western Hemisphere is there as well. SAMICS is a highly renowned martial arts organization in Europe that was established in Vienna, Austria by Peter Weckauf. It is a modular system that covers a range of combat topics, including street self- defense, law enforcement tactics, knife combat, axe combat, and more. Wears Many Hats Robert Nichols has multiple hats to wear, just like any other business owner. He can be involved in maintenance, cleaning, sales calls, marketing, or customer service depending on the day. But in his situation, it also entails being a teacher and a motivator. His role as a motivator is the most crucial one. It encourages learners to put forth more effort and accomplish more. Staff members are inspired to work hard and with discipline to teach others. Accountable for Growth Robert believes that training more leaders is always advantageous to companies. He thinks that leaders can take many different shapes and that the qualities of one can counteract the weaknesses of another. Additionally, because different people lead in various ways, having more developed leaders at a company increases the likelihood that you will have the best person for each job. Robert believes that creating strong leaders will enable his company to serve more students more effectively. On some days, there are 30 to 40 students in each session on the floor. However, managing the group is simple if they have 10–12 strong, established members of the Leadership Team. It wasn't until much later in life that Robert realized the importance of education. He therefore makes a great effort to continually read, listen to, and take in things that will help. He therefore makes a concerted effort to constantly study, listen to, and watch materials that advance his development. However, he believes that consistently holding himself accountable is the most crucial thing he does.
