Directions: As you closely watch the music video, answer the following questions with as much
detail as possible.
1. What are the men/women doing? (Dancing, sitting, swimming, etc.) It is opposite gender
roles. The man is at home in the kitchen cooking and Beyoncé is the one out working. She is
working as a cop.
2. How are the men/women dressed? How much skin is revealed? She is dressed in uniform. He
is dressed in a suit.
3. Are there more, fewer, or the same number of men as women? There were more male cops.
She is out with all her male coworkers while he is blowing up her phone waiting on her to come
home.
4. Describe the body language of the men/women: are they sitting, standing, gyrating, mugging,
etc.? They are distant from each other. She seems interested in other men. They are annoyed
with each other.
5. Do the men/women have power? How do you know? The woman has power. He is backing
off and isn’t standing up to her. He stays at home while she is out.
6. What³s the message of the song? It is Beyoncé’s take on switching roles with men. Singing
about all the things they do that make women mad or upset.
7. What type of music is the song? Pop.

Directions: As you closely watch the music video, answer the following questions with as much
detail as possible.
1. What races do you see represented?
- Racial issues in general in the streets.
2. Are there any dark skinned women shown? How many?
- Yes, there is a few but they’re in the background and not the main focus.
3. What is the race of the person at the focus of the video?
- The main person in the video is 2PAC, but he is signing and rapping about all the people
in the streets.
4. What are the black/Latino/Asian/white/Native American/Pacific Islander people doing?
- They have footage of 2PAC and some footage of the streets and crime.
5. What’s the message of the song?
- The song is about racial issues in the streets, and how they don’t think anything is going
to change. Also how there will always be poverty and homeless people and violence in the
streets. 2PAC quotes - “Some things will never change.”
6. What type of music is the song?
- Hip Hop Music

1. Describe any sexually explicit body language: undresses going up the stairs, sexually dancing
in a man’s shirt. They are in bed and he is on top of her.
2. Who is more sexualized men or women? Both? Both. She is half naked throughout the entire
video and he is shirtless and on top of her at one point.
3. Are there sexually explicit lyrics or messages? “Can’t keep my hands to myself”
“Keep making love to each other”
This song basically just repeats these lyrics over and over again throughout the entire thing.
4. How are subjects of the music video dressed? Barely dressed. She is in her underwear, his
shirt, and then naked. He is shirtless.
5. Describe the relationships between the men and women: Are they long or short term? Casual
or serious? They don’t know each other at all. She plays a stalker in this video who breaks into
his house and fantasizes about them being together.
6. What³s the message of the song? I think the message of the song literally just means she likes
him so she can’t keep her hands to herself.

5. What³s the message of the song? Portraying an abusive relationship. I think the message of
this song is that no matter how low times get in a relationship or how many fights you have, if
you love someone you want to help them and be there for them. Things happen in the heat of the
moment but it doesn't mean you actually mean it or don’t love them.
6. What type of music is the song? Hip-Hop
