impressions of each strength, and
how it applies to today’s
environment of business creation
using current technology and
memes
1. Confidence
• Without the ability to deliver, this is just
braggadaccio
• Means “grace under pressure”
2. Delegator
• Not simply delegating tasks, but recognizing
people’s abilities to succeed at the appointed
tasks
• Keeping the lines of communication open
• Being willing to listen to someone’s creative
approach to solving a problem
3. Determination
• More than grit, but that helps
• Uneasiness about not achieving the highest
quality
• Working toward a manifest goal
4. Disruptor
• Being able to explain yourself when everyone
else sees you as the outlier
• Being able to take ridicule
• Seeing non-traditional solutions
5. Independence
• Independent thought
• Willing to forego security
• Ability to withstand separation anxiety
• Leading a group
6. Knowledge
• “Those who read, lead.”
• Being able to appreciate the good counsel
• Thinking critically, avoiding confirmation
biases
7. Profitability
• Motive without profit is just as bad as profit
without motive
• Keeping cost low—maximizing utilization of
resources
• Finding creative ways to economize
8. Relationship
• Taking care of clients, suppliers and employees
• Listening and understanding the concerns and
problems of the above three groups
• Empathy
9. Risk
• “Fortune favors the bold”
• Finding opportunity in failure
• Pivoting
• Using fear and anxiety as motivation
10. Selling
• Closing, really
• Finding the sticking point and attacking it in
how many ways it takes to eliminate it
• Never disappointing – try to over-deliver, and
never miss a promise
• Offering value and not commodities
What I’d expected to see
• Competitiveness – wanting to be the best in
your market
• Engagement – being able to make a
memorable impression on a single person or a
large group
• Vision – an expressible idea of what you
would like to see come true
• Inspiration – stoking the aspirational fire in
others so that they can do their best

  • 5. 2. Delegator • Not simply delegating tasks, but recognizing people’s abilities to succeed at the appointed tasks • Keeping the lines of communication open • Being willing to listen to someone’s creative approach to solving a problem
  • 6. 3. Determination • More than grit, but that helps • Uneasiness about not achieving the highest quality • Working toward a manifest goal
  • 7. 4. Disruptor • Being able to explain yourself when everyone else sees you as the outlier • Being able to take ridicule • Seeing non-traditional solutions
