Every Sunday, I have the opportunity to help as a child care worker in my church's nursery; and every week, after spending just one hour watching
over the kids so that their parents can go to service and not have to worry about their children, I remember exactly why I spend my free time helping

seventeen high schoolers in our school district. These are kids that do not have enough money at home to always have food on their table. Snack
Pack plays an important role in their lives because without it, they would not always eat. These kids deserve the chance to live their life and go to
school without having to worry about whether or not the will eat dinner that night. That is why I value my role in this club so much, because I

different trays of which one was purple and the other one was orange. This is so that they were able to make their own choice on what colour they

My Passion For Service And Community
I was raised up believing in the importance of service and community as I saw my family members and neighbors selflessly help and be in
community with people in need. It is therefore no surprise that I discovered my passion for service and volunteerism while still young. In my
hometown Nairobi, Kenya, I did community service through various ways, including my involvement in the charity walk for Street Children and
Orphans in Kenya in 2003 and the 2007 Brookside Freedom from Hunger Campaign. I participated in the charity walk for these causes and helped

Service is a work of will. Throughout our lives, we complete service that may be unknown to us. Service does not always mean doing things for a
time frame for a signed paper to turn into school, but service could mean even the smaller things from helping an injured student to their classroom

Child protective services (CPS) is a government agency located in many states across the United States that helps children stay away from harm and
abuse. Child protective services and its agencies plays a big role in society. Children of all ages are assaulted and most of the times by a dearest loved
one. Child abuse is defined as any type of neglect upon a child including mentally, physically, and sexually.
Social workers react to reports and take those in danger of neglect to a safer environment. "Being a social worker isn't the easiest job to do, to succeed
you have to be mentally strong and actually look forward to going to work" (Martinez). As a social worker you view the world differently from the

What more good to do in society than assisting children for a better, deserved lifestyle. Social working is nothing but a helping field that opens
doors to kids that started off with nothing. "At times social workers will fail to overcome countless cases where the clients were given there
undivided attention, and the best help one can receive but knowing you did the best you could in a case is what helps you move forward, and the
cases you do succeed are the ones that over look that bad ones" (Martinez). Personally, I view this level of field work rewarding than anything else.
The salary one receives as a social worker isn't compared to the importance of the job itself and the difference you make in the life of young child, and
