Reflection On African American Studies
Personal Reflection Introduction to African American Studies was the class that I decided to take this summer because I am genuinely interested in
learning more about the cultures and lifestyles of African Americans through out history and I want to further my knowledge beyond just learning
about what was taught to me in secondary school. I do not know much about African American studies as I have not taken any courses on it or relating
to it in the past but I hope that I can gain a lot of information on the topic through out this intellectual experience. I also hope to gain a better
understanding of the history of Africans and African Americas and be able to dive deeper into this topic instead of just hitting the surface as I feel as
though my previous experiences with this topic have covered. In just this first weeks lesson I have learned about the three great principles that
characterize the "Black Intellectual Tradition" and how these three principles are used and perceived. During my secondary education experience some
of the things that I have learned about the African or African American experience were the slave trade and slavery of Africans during early American
and that these slaves were used for things like farming, working in mills, and servants to the rich, all against their will and most without any pay or
human rights. I also had learned about the equality movement in American during the 19th century and the movement to abolish slavey and how this
had lead

"Leaders become great not because of their power, but because of their ability to empower others." This is a quote from John Maxwell and he could
not have said it better. This quote represents how I feel about leadership. I believe that leaders should not be only in it for the money, but to make a
change in the world. To be a great leader you must be passionate and have great leadership skills. According to Introduction to leadership some good
leadership skills are problem solving, managing people, and being socially perceptive.
I have chosen to Interview Mrs. Rebecca Merriman. She oversees GO CAPS at the Monett high school. GO CAPS is a program for students to get
hands on learning while still in high school. I was involved in the teacher education strand and there were many times where I wanted it give up, but
she encouraged me to stick with it. I am so thankful that she did because she able to teach me so many skills that I continue to use to this and will
probably use for the rest of my life.
I chose Mrs. Merriman because she has all the traits that are included in Introduction to leadership. The traits include intelligence, confidence, charisma,
determination, sociability, and integrity. I also picked her, because she has impacted the lives of so many students in such a positive way. She taught
me how to shake a hand, how to send an appropriate email, and most importantly how to respect authority. I could not be more thankful for everything
she has taught me, and I know

Reflective Essay
Introduction
People often spend at least few minutes every day before the mirror.
Why do you stand before a mirror? What do you see when you look at the mirror? 'You', right?
Technically speaking we stand before a mirror to analyze ourselves by looking at our own reflection in the mirror.
The same can be said about the reflective compositions. A reflective composition is the result of introspection into past experiences or memorable
events in our lives.
We introspect into these memorable events and reflect over them with regards the emotions and influences they have left in our lives.
In simple words a reflective essay is a piece of 'you' being presented in words.
What is Reflection?
In a reflective composition you really need to...show more content...
It analyzes and shows the reader the significance of a particular event or experience and its credibility and universal application.
Synthesis
A reflective essay expresses how do the components of your experience relate or react in the given situation, how similar experiences and interactions
introduced changes in your outlook, what have you learned from your experience etc.
Evaluation
A reflective essay should evaluate your experience. It shows your attitude towards the subject, your degree of subjectivity, how it affected you, what
you accept or reject, how the experience will help you to perceive or act differently in the future etc.
IT IS PURPOSEFUL
A reflective essay is not merely scribbling some thoughts that come up in your mind. It has a definitive purpose that you want to accomplish ā€“ to learn,
to improve, to demonstrate an insight through your essay.
IT IS FORMAL
Of course, a reflective essay is personal, reflective and based on experience and observations but at the same time the style of presentation should be
standardized. One has to use the standard format for preparing a reflective essay.
STRUCTURE OF A REFLECTIVE ESSAY
A reflective essay is a form of writing that examines and observes the individual experience. When writing a reflective essay, it is important to use
descriptive language.
Reflective essays are based upon your own experiences, so it is expected that you write about yourself, your ideas and your opinions. As a result, it is

Reflection Paper On Philosophy
This essay is reflection about my understanding from what I have learned during this class about what philosophy is. Philosophy is a broad topic and
can be hard to understand. What we learn is class about philosophy defiantly makes me think and makes my brain turn all the time, but so far, my
understanding is that philosophy is the study of knowledge. It breaks down what everything is. Examples used in class are chariness, deskness, and the
main one sued in class "cupness".
According to Aristotle, philosophy is the study of fundamental nature of knowledge; it starts with wonder. Philosophy makes us ask specific question
like "Why" why did this happen and how did it come to be. Philosophy had its origin in ancient Greece. Philosophy recognizes that everything is
somehow connected.
Philosophy and 'science' are the same project; to do philosophy is to do science and to do science is to do philosophy. It is connected because
philosophy/science was attempting to discover the fundamental unity principle that lies at the basis of all reality and all experience. This is why we
refer to Garret Strong many times throughout our class discussions
The earliest philosopher/scientist are called Preā€“Socratic philosophers. They came before the great philosopher Socrates. Thales is to be the first.
Thales is referred to as the father or founder of philosophophy/science he lived in the sixth century BCE. Thales began to search for the unity principle,
which is the ground of all things.

Transferring What I Know
Reflecting back on my experiences from my Writing 39C (and Writing 39B) class, I can acknowledge the changes and evolution in myself as a writer.
In my Week 1 Selfā€“Assessment, which was written at the beginning of the Writing 39C course in reflection to Writing 39B, I mentioned that one of my
central strategies in my writing process is focusing on the preā€“writing. My preā€“writing process includes strategies such as brainstorming and outlining.
I mentioned in the selfā€“assessment that I would "pick up the strategies I have learned and continue to use them in the course of Writing 39C". With
that, I carried the strategy of preā€“writing over to Writing 39C knowing that research papers would require a plenty amount of preā€“writing. A method
commonly used in research papers that I have gained experience in from this course is creating annotated bibliographies which I would consider a part
of the preā€“writing process. Annotated bibliographies assisted me in my writing significantly by helping me feel better prepared and giving me
groundwork for starting my research paper.
One habit of mine that changed when it comes to researching involves finding appropriate sources. In prior papers, before taking Writing 39C, I used
sources I was uncertain were considered reliable sources which hindered my credibility as a writer. Fortunately, through the workshop/lecture my peers
and I got to participate in, while we were in the process of writing

Reflective Essay on College Writing
Reflective Essay on College Writing
This semester was my very first semester as a college student. Being the first, it was probably the semester I would learn the most in. I learned the
expectations for writing that I will have to live up to for the next four years of my college career. Though my high school teachers were usually
demanding because I was in the Honors English section throughout high school, writing in college has still ?raised the bar? for me. Also, in high
school, we would have weeks to pick a topic, create a thesis, outline the paper, write the paper, and then revise the paper. In college, the timerestraints
are not quite as lenient. I?ve had to learn to manage my time and be more productive with what free moments I...show more content...
I definitely learned a great deal from our discussions about this book. I really did not like it at all until the class sat down and analyzed the many
levels Conrad addressed in his story. I thought the endless paradoxes in the book, once brought to light, were actually very interesting. My
favorite section, however, was the poetry unit. I really enjoyed the poem ?The Blues? by Billy Collins the most because of my respect for music. I
think Collins really makes a point in his poem about just how important music is and how it allows people who are very different to connect on
many levels. I also loved ?Love Calls Us to the Things of This World? by Richard Wilbur. The imagery in this poem was absolutely amazing, and I
adored how he made the ordinary things seem mystical with his words. I loved how the laundry became angels. If only we could look at the world
from that point of view more often, it would be a much happier place.
The criticisms in college have even been somewhat enjoyable and interesting to read. I think I began to like the stories and poems we read in class
more and more as we discussed them and looked at different authorities? opinions. I found a lot of the information in the databases very useful. For the
Antigone research project, the JSTORS database gave me hundreds of articles dealing with my topic. I could narrow down what I was looking for and

Reflection On Introduction To Writing
I'm coming to you today to discuss my reflection after taking one of my prerequisite, Introduction to Writing (WRTG 101). Which is an introductory
course to give you the basic knowledge of writing. Because I'm a Psychology Major at University of Maryland University College I looked forward
to taking this class, because it has helped me enhanced my skills efficiently in grammar, and writing to help further my career as a psychologist and the
ability to communicate on paper. Although, this class had many challenges, even though, I had taken a writing class fifteen years ago, my freshman
year in college, I still wasn't proficient enough to write a professional letter or essay. Before taking this class, I had no passion to write. My writing
would be all over the place, my events would not be in sequence, along with poor grammar, I would have to many ideas and unable to narrow down
a topic, which in turn my supporting sentences were not supporting. Also, I didn't know how to cite my material or properly cite my references. I
was scared I would fell this class, because I felt I didn't know just the basic knowledge of writing. Although, once upon of time, I had no passion for
writing, I have a little more confidence, because I learned the basic knowledge in writing, grammar, and in punctuation. Also, I feel introduction to
writing has offered me the accomplishments needed to become a more successful writer, as well as, the confidents to be a more proficient and active

Reflective Essay On English 101
Proficient writing is an essential skill in all aspects of academic and professional achievement. English 101, Introduction to Composition and Rhetoric,
provided the framework to good writing, teaching me composition and rhetoric fundamentals, polishing up my grammar and style, and expressing a
clear message. English 102, Composition, Rhetoric, and Research, continued to build on the skills I learned in English 101, focusing on the subject
matter research process and employing various rhetorical and literary devices to better express a clear message to the reader. The course also
improved my critical thinking capacity, allowing me to culturally evaluate my target audience, present logically flowing arguments using appropriate
language and structure, and critically reviewing my writing projects for content and expression. Every writer inherently knows there's always room
to improve and I hold fast to this mindset in all academic, professional, and personal writing projects. English 102 has both challenged and inspired
me to grow into a much better writer than before I began the class, providing the necessary skills to be not just a good writer, but a great writer.
Most of my English 102 writing projects are rhetorical arguments, intended to persuade the reader in one direction or another. Reflecting on the many
skills I honed in English 102, my predetermined use of rhetorical strategies (ethos, logos, pathos), developing a concise thesis statement, and clearly

Reflection In Sociology
After taking a Sociology class this semester, I learned a lot of about the different topics and concepts in this course and how they are related to our
society, which has changed my perspective as well as how I view and see the meaning of my surroundings. I would also think about what would be
going on inside a specific person's mind and how he or she was feeling. After learning about different concepts in Sociology and watching the videos
presented in class, it became easier to just stop and think about a person, wonder who that person was, and be curious about that person's life story.

It is crazy to hear that the top richest people in this world have the same wealth as the poorest 3 billion people in this world. Even though rich
countries are giving aid to poor countries, the huge gap difference between their wealth is due to large corporations form rich countries taking more
money from poor countries, and this really explains a lot why poor country never have the chance to actually thrive. The thought that poor people
should be able to come up from where they came from, which is a thought in many people's minds, especially those who have money, isn't all that
simple.
The activity we had to do for homework with the Sorting People stood out to me as well and made me realize that classifying and judging people
based on how they look and guess what their races and ethnicities are solely by appearance, is not the right way to categorize people. I learned that
the majority of my guesses were wrong, and after reading about the people's mini bios, I then realized that people's races and ethnicities are not
determined by their physical looks. Appearance doesn't always tell you about someone's ancestry or selfā€“identities of themselves. "Race" cannot tell
where someone came from, what they are good at, or even how their personalities and behaviors are like.
It was also very interesting to learn about different cultures, especially during the movies we watched in class about adoption. It shows how culture
along with the beliefs,

Reflection : What I Have Learned In The Class
Introduction
What I have learned in this class? It is my first question that I have asked myself. It is my first experience to have a blended class just like FYS
001 at West Coast University. I have never taken the blended course, so I have learned a few interested things with the blended class. First at all, I
have a chance to meet my professor and my classmates in person on the first day of the class. It is an advantage to know whom I am talking to
when I go to the class discussion board. Therefore, I have a feeling just like taking on ground class. The different option is that the class only meets
twice per term. I like the course over all. There are many topics which have been discussed on class discussion board and a lot of related learning
reading assignments. Here, I will briefly go over a few new materials which I have learned so far from the course.
What topics in this course do affect you the most? To answer the question, I am interested in making decision topic. As an individual has to make
decisions daily, the person needs to make a better decision among different options. Making decision can be done by followed some factors and basic
process. First, the individual must identify the problem to analyze the cause. Next, the person needs to search for the reliable information and looks for
the alternative ways. Then, the individual will make the decision and evaluation the outcome (Fred C, 2010). There are many factors which have been
involved in the process.

October 19, 2016 Reflection Paper
It's hard to believe that it's already time for Midterms in my English 101 class. The adventure has been a lot easier than I at first anticipated. In any
case, I am happy that I am taking the class and learning from it. In the beginning it appeared somewhat hard however I was resolved to compel my
way through this class regardless of what difficulties I needed to persevere.
On the first day of my English 101 class I was apprehensive, I had no clue what's in store from the class. As I discovered what the class would have
been similar to, I let myself know I was going to attempt to get an B or higher toward the end of the semester and put all the exertion I had into each

I have an unmistakable view in my head of what I am going to compose and what structures I have to utilize. Things have ended up less difficult now
since I don't need to experience the battle of how things are done or on the chance that I don't understand how I should do what I am expected to do.
These aptitudes may empower me to enjoy additionally composing and not need to stress over having a written assignment.
This course has helped me with many chances to figure out how to properly write papers. Prior to this class, I had little experience with how to
build a legitimate paper. It has taken experience, and getting normal evaluations, to show me how to precisely write. Despite the fact that this course
required different papers to be turned in, I am appreciative to have possessed the capacity to gain from my oversights and develop as a writer. I have
constantly cherished written work, however now I am ready to improve my writing as the semester

Reflective Sociology Essay
The last six weeks have challenged my preconceived ideas about sociology and the role that it plays in society in the popular and social media, my
values, behaviours and belief system. What I hope to highlight throughout this reflective essay is what I have learnt and how that has shaped my new
thought process and reinforced old thought patterns. Week one I learnt about the Sociological imagination where to quote C Wright "The sociological
imagination enables us to grasp the connection between history and biography." (Henslin et al., 2011). Upon further reflection of the reading material in
Sociology a down to earth approach there was one particular story that really resonated with me. It was the illustration about expecting...show more

Week three see's the introduction of the fathers of sociology Auguste Comte, Herbert Spenser, Karl Marx, Emile Durkheim, Max Weber, Georg
Simmel. Karl Marx and Durkheim are the two that really resonate with me, Durkheim due to his theories around the subject of suicide and how that
subject is particularly personal with me and also Karl Marx theory around class inequality.
Karl Marx believed that man's basic needs were food and shelter and the evolution of these basic needs led to capitalism, after the industrial revolution
we see there being two distinct classes of people the workers and the capitalist and the effect that this ultimately has on social aspect of society. Marx
looked at the unequal power struggle in this theory and how that conflict would lead to socialism and eventually communism and it was then that he
coā€“wrote with Englels in 1948 "The Communist Manifesto". I can really see the same picture that Marx was looking at, even in today's society in
Australia we see the rich getting richer and the poor getting poorer, but more evident in third world countries where there are polar opposites in wealth
and power.
This subject has actually spilled out into my conversation at different locations, talking at a bar with a guy about the possibility that Jesus was a

Reflection On My English 101 Experience
Reflecting on My English 101 Experience I used to consider writing as tumble words from your mind, write, read it through, fix minor mistakes, and
done. However, you rarely get successful. The truth is many students, including myself, struggle with starting to write a word, or getting stuck in the
middle without knowing the main point of the writing. After completing English 101, I can explain the writing process, evaluate the strengths of my
essay, and identify my weaknesses. Throughout English 101, I learned that the following the writing process was imperative. Before taking this class, I
use to always skip the preā€“writing step considering that it is just an easy and unnecessary step. Consequently, I struggled to figure how to start writing,
and most importantly I struggled to figure out the main point while writing the draft. And then I finish the first draft close to the deadline that I do not
have time to read it not to mention revising. It was after I started this class that learned that preā€“writing is vital, and requires time and attention as it
holds the base of the whole writing. My professor used different analogies such as blueprint for building and map for navigation to explain the
importance. It really speeded up my writing after I started to utilize it. I have learned outlining before, but part of the preā€“writing that I was fortunate

Environmental Science Reflection
Over the course of the semester, I feel that, in my Introduction to Environmental Science (EVR2001) class, I have learned an extensive amount about
current, past, and possibly future environmental issues that our planet is enduring. Many of the issues impacting our environment have caught my
attention and opened my eyes to the effects these issues are causing. Environmental science has had an impact on me personally, and has changed my
understanding and the intensity of my opinions on many environmental issues in a variety of ways. There are even particular environmental issues that
I find relevant to my own life for many reasons. This class taught me how I can reduce my own impact on the environment, which has even led me to

this class has brought so many issues to my attention, and taught me that almost anything can have a negative impact on our environment. For
example, I found it intriguing that even letting a pet cat, or feral cats in general, outside, is a severe negative threat to the biodiversity of an
ecosystem (Lecture 4 Slides). Personally, I do not believe many people know the effect cats can have, which leads them to believe their cat is fine
roaming around outside. The Global Article Analysis assignments had another impact on me. They allowed me to realize that countries can be affected

Reflective Essay: The Progress Of My Writing
The progress of my writing has consisted of overcoming struggles as well as enhancing my strengths. Some in which will include style, organization,
evidence, focused topic, etc. Undoubtedly, there are numerous elements of writing to establish a clear statement regarding the topic discussed.
Elements that I have been focused on and implemented are the introductions that describe an overview of the topic along.
Furthermore, some components that I consider while I'm beginning to write an essay or report is to always look for evidence that the author presents
throughout his argument. It's important to point out their evidence to either support or a rebuttal and thoughts of your own. Overall, I focus on
creating a quick and simple introduction towards the text I am referring to and assemble a thesis as well as a cliffhanger to keep the audience
engaged. Likewise, I also include is transitions to form my claims and ideas be associated with each other.
In addition, the organization is also something that I have improved on to have a concrete order to cite a quote, the perspective of the author's claim,
and show evidence or support. When using I need to keep a reminder, that it's best if transitions are used for topic sentences and wrapping up the
evidence given previously to close out the last paragraph sentence. In...show more content...

Reflection On African American Studies

  • 1. Reflection On African American Studies Personal Reflection Introduction to African American Studies was the class that I decided to take this summer because I am genuinely interested in learning more about the cultures and lifestyles of African Americans through out history and I want to further my knowledge beyond just learning about what was taught to me in secondary school. I do not know much about African American studies as I have not taken any courses on it or relating to it in the past but I hope that I can gain a lot of information on the topic through out this intellectual experience. I also hope to gain a better understanding of the history of Africans and African Americas and be able to dive deeper into this topic instead of just hitting the surface as I feel as though my previous experiences with this topic have covered. In just this first weeks lesson I have learned about the three great principles that characterize the "Black Intellectual Tradition" and how these three principles are used and perceived. During my secondary education experience some of the things that I have learned about the African or African American experience were the slave trade and slavery of Africans during early American and that these slaves were used for things like farming, working in mills, and servants to the rich, all against their will and most without any pay or human rights. I also had learned about the equality movement in American during the 19th century and the movement to abolish slavey and how this had lead Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 2. "Leaders become great not because of their power, but because of their ability to empower others." This is a quote from John Maxwell and he could not have said it better. This quote represents how I feel about leadership. I believe that leaders should not be only in it for the money, but to make a change in the world. To be a great leader you must be passionate and have great leadership skills. According to Introduction to leadership some good leadership skills are problem solving, managing people, and being socially perceptive. I have chosen to Interview Mrs. Rebecca Merriman. She oversees GO CAPS at the Monett high school. GO CAPS is a program for students to get hands on learning while still in high school. I was involved in the teacher education strand and there were many times where I wanted it give up, but she encouraged me to stick with it. I am so thankful that she did because she able to teach me so many skills that I continue to use to this and will probably use for the rest of my life. I chose Mrs. Merriman because she has all the traits that are included in Introduction to leadership. The traits include intelligence, confidence, charisma, determination, sociability, and integrity. I also picked her, because she has impacted the lives of so many students in such a positive way. She taught me how to shake a hand, how to send an appropriate email, and most importantly how to respect authority. I could not be more thankful for everything she has taught me, and I know Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 3. Reflective Essay Introduction People often spend at least few minutes every day before the mirror. Why do you stand before a mirror? What do you see when you look at the mirror? 'You', right? Technically speaking we stand before a mirror to analyze ourselves by looking at our own reflection in the mirror. The same can be said about the reflective compositions. A reflective composition is the result of introspection into past experiences or memorable events in our lives. Synthesis A reflective essay expresses how do the components of your experience relate or react in the given situation, how similar experiences and interactions introduced changes in your outlook, what have you learned from your experience etc. Evaluation A reflective essay should evaluate your experience. It shows your attitude towards the subject, your degree of subjectivity, how it affected you, what you accept or reject, how the experience will help you to perceive or act differently in the future etc. IT IS PURPOSEFUL A reflective essay is not merely scribbling some thoughts that come up in your mind. It has a definitive purpose that you want to accomplish ā€“ to learn, to improve, to demonstrate an insight through your essay. IT IS FORMAL Of course, a reflective essay is personal, reflective and based on experience and observations but at the same time the style of presentation should be standardized. One has to use the standard format for preparing a reflective essay.
  • 4. STRUCTURE OF A REFLECTIVE ESSAY A reflective essay is a form of writing that examines and observes the individual experience. When writing a reflective essay, it is important to use descriptive language. Reflective essays are based upon your own experiences, so it is expected that you write about yourself, your ideas and your opinions. As a result, it is Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 5. Reflection Paper On Philosophy This essay is reflection about my understanding from what I have learned during this class about what philosophy is. Philosophy is a broad topic and can be hard to understand. What we learn is class about philosophy defiantly makes me think and makes my brain turn all the time, but so far, my understanding is that philosophy is the study of knowledge. It breaks down what everything is. Examples used in class are chariness, deskness, and the main one sued in class "cupness". According to Aristotle, philosophy is the study of fundamental nature of knowledge; it starts with wonder. Philosophy makes us ask specific question like "Why" why did this happen and how did it come to be. Philosophy had its origin in ancient Greece. Philosophy recognizes that everything is somehow connected. Philosophy and 'science' are the same project; to do philosophy is to do science and to do science is to do philosophy. It is connected because philosophy/science was attempting to discover the fundamental unity principle that lies at the basis of all reality and all experience. This is why we refer to Garret Strong many times throughout our class discussions The earliest philosopher/scientist are called Preā€“Socratic philosophers. They came before the great philosopher Socrates. Thales is to be the first. Thales is referred to as the father or founder of philosophophy/science he lived in the sixth century BCE. Thales began to search for the unity principle, which is the ground of all things. At the Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 6. Reflective Essay : Reflective Introduction Reflective Introduction Transferring What I Know Reflecting back on my experiences from my Writing 39C (and Writing 39B) class, I can acknowledge the changes and evolution in myself as a writer. In my Week 1 Selfā€“Assessment, which was written at the beginning of the Writing 39C course in reflection to Writing 39B, I mentioned that one of my central strategies in my writing process is focusing on the preā€“writing. My preā€“writing process includes strategies such as brainstorming and outlining. I mentioned in the selfā€“assessment that I would "pick up the strategies I have learned and continue to use them in the course of Writing 39C". With that, I carried the strategy of preā€“writing over to Writing 39C knowing that research papers would require a plenty amount of preā€“writing. A method commonly used in research papers that I have gained experience in from this course is creating annotated bibliographies which I would consider a part of the preā€“writing process. Annotated bibliographies assisted me in my writing significantly by helping me feel better prepared and giving me groundwork for starting my research paper. One habit of mine that changed when it comes to researching involves finding appropriate sources. In prior papers, before taking Writing 39C, I used sources I was uncertain were considered reliable sources which hindered my credibility as a writer. Fortunately, through the workshop/lecture my peers and I got to participate in, while we were in the process of writing Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 7. Reflective Essay on College Writing Reflective Essay on College Writing This semester was my very first semester as a college student. Being the first, it was probably the semester I would learn the most in. I learned the expectations for writing that I will have to live up to for the next four years of my college career. Though my high school teachers were usually demanding because I was in the Honors English section throughout high school, writing in college has still ?raised the bar? for me. Also, in high school, we would have weeks to pick a topic, create a thesis, outline the paper, write the paper, and then revise the paper. In college, the timerestraints are not quite as lenient. I?ve had to learn to manage my time and be more productive with what free moments I...show more content... I definitely learned a great deal from our discussions about this book. I really did not like it at all until the class sat down and analyzed the many levels Conrad addressed in his story. I thought the endless paradoxes in the book, once brought to light, were actually very interesting. My favorite section, however, was the poetry unit. I really enjoyed the poem ?The Blues? by Billy Collins the most because of my respect for music. I think Collins really makes a point in his poem about just how important music is and how it allows people who are very different to connect on many levels. I also loved ?Love Calls Us to the Things of This World? by Richard Wilbur. The imagery in this poem was absolutely amazing, and I adored how he made the ordinary things seem mystical with his words. I loved how the laundry became angels. If only we could look at the world from that point of view more often, it would be a much happier place. The criticisms in college have even been somewhat enjoyable and interesting to read. I think I began to like the stories and poems we read in class more and more as we discussed them and looked at different authorities? opinions. I found a lot of the information in the databases very useful. For the Antigone research project, the JSTORS database gave me hundreds of articles dealing with my topic. I could narrow down what I was looking for and find numerous Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 8. Reflection On Introduction To Writing I'm coming to you today to discuss my reflection after taking one of my prerequisite, Introduction to Writing (WRTG 101). Which is an introductory course to give you the basic knowledge of writing. Because I'm a Psychology Major at University of Maryland University College I looked forward to taking this class, because it has helped me enhanced my skills efficiently in grammar, and writing to help further my career as a psychologist and the ability to communicate on paper. Although, this class had many challenges, even though, I had taken a writing class fifteen years ago, my freshman year in college, I still wasn't proficient enough to write a professional letter or essay. Before taking this class, I had no passion to write. My writing would be all over the place, my events would not be in sequence, along with poor grammar, I would have to many ideas and unable to narrow down a topic, which in turn my supporting sentences were not supporting. Also, I didn't know how to cite my material or properly cite my references. I was scared I would fell this class, because I felt I didn't know just the basic knowledge of writing. Although, once upon of time, I had no passion for writing, I have a little more confidence, because I learned the basic knowledge in writing, grammar, and in punctuation. Also, I feel introduction to writing has offered me the accomplishments needed to become a more successful writer, as well as, the confidents to be a more proficient and active Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 9. Reflective Essay On English 101 Proficient writing is an essential skill in all aspects of academic and professional achievement. English 101, Introduction to Composition and Rhetoric, provided the framework to good writing, teaching me composition and rhetoric fundamentals, polishing up my grammar and style, and expressing a clear message. English 102, Composition, Rhetoric, and Research, continued to build on the skills I learned in English 101, focusing on the subject matter research process and employing various rhetorical and literary devices to better express a clear message to the reader. The course also improved my critical thinking capacity, allowing me to culturally evaluate my target audience, present logically flowing arguments using appropriate language and structure, and critically reviewing my writing projects for content and expression. Every writer inherently knows there's always room to improve and I hold fast to this mindset in all academic, professional, and personal writing projects. English 102 has both challenged and inspired me to grow into a much better writer than before I began the class, providing the necessary skills to be not just a good writer, but a great writer. Most of my English 102 writing projects are rhetorical arguments, intended to persuade the reader in one direction or another. Reflecting on the many skills I honed in English 102, my predetermined use of rhetorical strategies (ethos, logos, pathos), developing a concise thesis statement, and clearly defining Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 10. Reflection In Sociology After taking a Sociology class this semester, I learned a lot of about the different topics and concepts in this course and how they are related to our society, which has changed my perspective as well as how I view and see the meaning of my surroundings. I would also think about what would be going on inside a specific person's mind and how he or she was feeling. After learning about different concepts in Sociology and watching the videos presented in class, it became easier to just stop and think about a person, wonder who that person was, and be curious about that person's life story. We pass by people all the time every day, but we never really know what is going on with them and don't really think about it or care since it is so ...show more content... It is crazy to hear that the top richest people in this world have the same wealth as the poorest 3 billion people in this world. Even though rich countries are giving aid to poor countries, the huge gap difference between their wealth is due to large corporations form rich countries taking more money from poor countries, and this really explains a lot why poor country never have the chance to actually thrive. The thought that poor people should be able to come up from where they came from, which is a thought in many people's minds, especially those who have money, isn't all that simple. The activity we had to do for homework with the Sorting People stood out to me as well and made me realize that classifying and judging people based on how they look and guess what their races and ethnicities are solely by appearance, is not the right way to categorize people. I learned that the majority of my guesses were wrong, and after reading about the people's mini bios, I then realized that people's races and ethnicities are not determined by their physical looks. Appearance doesn't always tell you about someone's ancestry or selfā€“identities of themselves. "Race" cannot tell where someone came from, what they are good at, or even how their personalities and behaviors are like. It was also very interesting to learn about different cultures, especially during the movies we watched in class about adoption. It shows how culture along with the beliefs, Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 11. Reflection : What I Have Learned In The Class Introduction What I have learned in this class? It is my first question that I have asked myself. It is my first experience to have a blended class just like FYS 001 at West Coast University. I have never taken the blended course, so I have learned a few interested things with the blended class. First at all, I have a chance to meet my professor and my classmates in person on the first day of the class. It is an advantage to know whom I am talking to when I go to the class discussion board. Therefore, I have a feeling just like taking on ground class. The different option is that the class only meets twice per term. I like the course over all. There are many topics which have been discussed on class discussion board and a lot of related learning reading assignments. Here, I will briefly go over a few new materials which I have learned so far from the course. What topics in this course do affect you the most? To answer the question, I am interested in making decision topic. As an individual has to make decisions daily, the person needs to make a better decision among different options. Making decision can be done by followed some factors and basic process. First, the individual must identify the problem to analyze the cause. Next, the person needs to search for the reliable information and looks for the alternative ways. Then, the individual will make the decision and evaluation the outcome (Fred C, 2010). There are many factors which have been involved in the process. Get more content on HelpWriting.net

Reflective Sociology Essay The last six weeks have challenged my preconceived ideas about sociology and the role that it plays in society in the popular and social media, my values, behaviours and belief system. What I hope to highlight throughout this reflective essay is what I have learnt and how that has shaped my new thought process and reinforced old thought patterns. Week one I learnt about the Sociological imagination where to quote C Wright "The sociological imagination enables us to grasp the connection between history and biography." (Henslin et al., 2011). Karl Marx and Durkheim are the two that really resonate with me, Durkheim due to his theories around the subject of suicide and how that subject is particularly personal with me and also Karl Marx theory around class inequality. Karl Marx believed that man's basic needs were food and shelter and the evolution of these basic needs led to capitalism, after the industrial revolution we see there being two distinct classes of people the workers and the capitalist and the effect that this ultimately has on social aspect of society. Marx looked at the unequal power struggle in this theory and how that conflict would lead to socialism and eventually communism and it was then that he coā€“wrote with Englels in 1948 "The Communist Manifesto". I can really see the same picture that Marx was looking at, even in today's society in Australia we see the rich getting richer and the poor getting poorer, but more evident in third world countries where there are polar opposites in wealth and power. This English adventure started on post 1 and 2 and ended at the multiā€“modal project. When I first did post 1 and 2 ,I was excited because we were incorporating fallacies to our discussions. I previously learned more about fallacies and ethos, pathos, and logos from a previous communications course and I appreciated the review. I found that it was challenging to respond properly to posts created by other classmates. My initial response was always to support each and every classmate by telling them that they did an awesome job. I had trouble analyzing their work without agreeing with every claim. I found it a bit hard at the beginning as it is not the same way as I used to study in high school. * I had a module called Organizational Behaviour and Management during semester one, and I found it really challenging. We were divided into 4 to 5 groups in the first seminar activity and each group was asked to write a 5000 words essay. The title of the assignment was too vague and we had difficulties within the group to figure out what we needed to do. It was the first time that we face such type of essays. Reflection On My English 101 Experience Reflecting on My English 101 Experience I used to consider writing as tumble words from your mind, write, read it through, fix minor mistakes, and done. However, you rarely get successful. The truth is many students, including myself, struggle with starting to write a word, or getting stuck in the middle without knowing the main point of the writing. After completing English 101, I can explain the writing process, evaluate the strengths of my essay, and identify my weaknesses. Throughout English 101, I learned that the following the writing process was imperative. Before taking this class, I use to always skip the preā€“writing step considering that it is just an easy and unnecessary step. Consequently, I struggled to figure how to start writing, and most importantly I struggled to figure out the main point while writing the draft. And then I finish the first draft close to the deadline that I do not have time to read it not to mention revising. It was after I started this class that learned that preā€“writing is vital, and requires time and attention as it holds the base of the whole writing. My professor used different analogies such as blueprint for building and map for navigation to explain the importance. It really speeded up my writing after I started to utilize it. I have learned outlining before, but part of the preā€“writing that I was fortunate enough to learning in English 101 is the writing triangle. Environmental Science Reflection Over the course of the semester, I feel that, in my Introduction to Environmental Science (EVR2001) class, I have learned an extensive amount about current, past, and possibly future environmental issues that our planet is enduring. Many of the issues impacting our environment have caught my attention and opened my eyes to the effects these issues are causing. Environmental science has had an impact on me personally, and has changed my understanding and the intensity of my opinions on many environmental issues in a variety of ways. There are even particular environmental issues that I find relevant to my own life for many reasons. This class taught me how I can reduce my own impact on the environment, which has even led me to change some aspects of my life to reduce my environmental impact as a result. EVR2001 has impacted me personally, in many different ways First, this class has brought so many issues to my attention, and taught me that almost anything can have a negative impact on our environment. For example, I found it intriguing that even letting a pet cat, or feral cats in general, outside, is a severe negative threat to the biodiversity of an ecosystem (Lecture 4 Slides). Personally, I do not believe many people know the effect cats can have, which leads them to believe their cat is fine roaming around outside.
