This document summarizes a presentation on how CRNAs can better help and understand their patients. It discusses several ways for CRNAs to improve patient care and understanding, such as understanding how the healthcare system works to help patients with affordable treatment options, staying updated on new technologies, learning to communicate collaboratively with anesthesiologists, and understanding patients' financial stresses. The presentation also reviews 6 articles on related topics and identifies some limitations in finding relevant sources. It concludes that sharing this information could help medical staff better understand and care for patients to reduce their emotional and physical stress.

5. Summarizes how the eventual
consequences of plans on health-
care use and spending are
dependent not only on factors
that affect demand for health-
care services, such as the number
of persons covered and the scope
of their coverage, but also on
factors that affect supply and
costs.
The article summarizes that to be
treated, medical staff must
configure how much one’s
insurance can and will cover to
determine what prescription or
treatment you can be given.
6. Article 2
The article summarizes how the issue of affordability is
ultimately a cost issue.
This article Is very important in relation to my discourse
community, as it entails the struggles of many Americans to
pay for health insurance as well as other medical expenses.
7. Article 3
This article is important for learning about my
discourse community because it describes how
money is dished out for Medicare and Medicaid,
as well as other insurance.
The article describes how when health prices rise
faster than other prices, and this is not offset by
increasing labor productivity, employers'
contributions for health insurance rise as a share
of overall compensation.
8. This source is relevant to answering
my research question, "How can
CRNAs better help/ understand
their patients?”, as it describes the
attitudes in which they should have
with patients and family.
This source is full of pertinent
information relative to my
discourse community, as it provides
direct feedback from CRNAs during
a survey on patient care.
This is especially important, as
patient care is said to be the most
important aspect of focus for nurse
anesthetists.
9. It discusses how to help offer patient’s the best
possible care before, during, and after anesthesia.
It discusses technologies such as smart glasses which
offerCRNAs as well as anesthesiologists a way to
monitor a patient’s vitals without having to go looking
for them.
10. Article 6
This source is useful as it explains the
importance of communication and collaboration
in the medical field, to help a patient as best as
possible.
It also explains the effects good vs poor
communication can affect patients.
12. Conclusion
This information could be presented/ shared at
hospitals, medical teaching facilities, as well as
medical conferences in attempt to help staff better
understand and care for patients.
Finding ways to better understand the patient not
only takes the stress off them emotionally, but also
physically, as it will allow the body to be in a calm
state rather than tense.
