• It was built in 1928 and it
was very important because
with their tanks served as a
drinking fountain for cattle
and clothes washing.
• It is also an example of
Alcains stonework.

5. Monumental water fountains
“Roman water fountain”
• History:
This fountain is situated in
Alcains. Although it has the
name "Roman“, maybe it has
not Roman origins but so it is
called due to the Roman arches.
It was formerly used for the
daily activities. People went
there to take water, to drink, to
bathe and to wash clothes.
Currently, this source of water is
no longer used to the old tasks,
since people have piped water
in their homes. Today is
essentially a point of interest for
those visiting our village.

6. • It is part of popular culture to believe in
the existence of so-called "fountain of
desires." According to the legend, the
person must close his eyes, ask the wish
and throw a coin. After a few days, the
desire will be achieved.

7. “Fontana di Trevi”
•There is an urban legend that says that whoever
throws a coin into the Trevi fountain ( the ritual
requires you to do it with your back turned and with
your right hand on the left shoulder ) will end up
returning to Rome, and the truth is that there is not a
tourist who does not comply with the ritual.

• What is the holy water ?
The holy water is used in baptism serves to integrate people in the
Christian community.
• It´s like water without color, smell or taste but is blessed.
