2. The Problem
• Target Population: Mobility impaired people who have access
to wheelchairs
• Difficulty in finding disabled friendly places i.e. places that
have ramps and appropriate gateways for wheelchairs
• Places such as Libraries, ATM’s, Restaurants, Theatres,
Restrooms etc.
3. Proposed Solution
• An application for the disabled people who can operate a
wheelchair to guide them to the nearest disabled friendly place
• Independent and Convenient way for the users to navigate to
the convenient entrance
• This app would also allow the person to get in touch with the
caretaker
• The caretaker of the disabled person can track through the
synchronized application on his/her personal device
4. D- Access
• The user first selects the place
to be visited. For ex: Theatre,
ATM, Restaurant, Restroom,
Bus stop etc
• The app then shows the list of
disabled friendly nearest
places and their description
• Once the user selects the
place, the user is navigated to
that convenient entrance of
the place
5. D-Track
• The user can feed in the
details of caretaker and
synchronize their devices
• In case of emergency, the
caretaker would just be a
tap away through this app
• Also, the caretaker can
always keep track of its
loved one through the
tracking feature in the app.
6. D-Trans
• This app can help the user
find disabled friendly public
transport facilities nearby
• Considering that not all
buses and trains have
disabled friendly entrances
and can be used by the
disabled, this feature could
be very useful
7. Add Ons
• The app would also have speech
recognition and command capability
if the user cannot use the device
• This would expand the target users of
the application
• This app could help the user find a
nearest wheelchair store
• This could be useful if one needs to
buy a new wheelchair, fix it or even
buy accessories for it
8. Future Enhancements
• This application could be of use to people who also have
visual impairment along with mobility impairment
• In future, this app could be integrated with a wheelchair
that has installed censors and enabled image processing
• The app would have a screen with a list of places that do
not provide access for the disabled
• The users can vote for the places where they feel the need
for a ramp or easy access
• This data can later be shared to the local authorities and
NGO’s
9. From a Policy Level
• We are aiming at ‘public good’ by being beneficial to the what
is regarded for example as 19 percent of population in the
United states who had a disability as released by US Census
Bureau in 2010.
• With Copyright Act 1968(Cth)(the Act), ensures protection to
computer software which means that this protection is
extended to mobile apps. This will keep the app protected
with the copyright law.
• With crony capitalism we can extend this app to broader
roads and enable betterment of life to this section of people.
