Consultative approach
Driver Hire Australia is more than simply a provider of recruitment services. Our aim is to forge
closer links with our clients, by providing support to your organisation in many different ways:
For example:
• Salary benchmarking – checking market pay rates to ensure your vacancy
is attractive / in line with market rates
• Specialist advice – in addition to the extensive international experience of our staff,
our UK business has been providing recruitment services since 1983
• Assistance with writing / producing a job specification
6. 5
When you ask us to find a member of staff
for you, we will first complete a detailed
customer needs analysis, and then:
• Visit your organisation (if it’s the first vacancy we
are handling), to ensure we gain an appreciation of
the company culture, environment and OH&S etc
• Take a full job brief and ‘person specification’
- The details of the role are important, but equally important
for us is knowing the type of person you are looking for
• Search our extensive database of fully vetted
candidates and advertise, where appropriate,
using our own and independent jobs boards
• Conduct a 150-point skills test, right to work
and fatigue management tests, plus any
other specific tests required
• Match candidates to your specific requirements
and brief them about the job, to establish
interest and commitment
• Conduct a detailed telephone and
face-to-face interview with all candidates
For permanent appointments, we will also:
• Produce a written candidate summary on each
suitable candidate, using information gathered
during the interview
• Provide you with a short-list, the candidate’s
resume and our written candidate summary
• Arrange an interview at a time to suit you
• Liaise between you and each applicant through
to job offer, acceptance and commencement
onto your payroll
• Carry out post-placement follow-up with both
you and the candidate
• Complete role-specific psychometric testing,
where required
You can be confident that Driver Hire Australia
will work to the same exacting standards as
your own.

Expertise in Information Technology
A key strength of Driver Hire is its expertise in IT. Our in-house developers have developed a wide
range of services that harness the power of technology to make the job of managing your
workforce that bit easier.
Examples of this include our Agency Management System (AMS), Driver Hire eAssessments, and
(currently in the UK only) our online driving licence verification service, dh Licence Check. We are
constantly working on new ways to enhance the service we offer our customers around the world
through the smart use of technology.
eAssessments
Driver Hire eAssessments is a range of online
products designed especially for the logistics
industry to help you effectively manage worker risk
for your drivers. The system allows you to screen
new workers and determine the knowledge levels of
your current employees in a variety of subjects, and
to understand their training requirements.
Our eAssessments are mobile device compatible
and make use of eLearning technologies including
audio, video and interactive puzzles. Each
assessment has a minimum of 50 questions, which
candidates work through, and are given an
immediate response to their answers.
More importantly, when they get a question wrong,
they are shown the correct answer. Our ‘Check+’
system then rephrases the question asks it again
later in the assessment to re-affirm their knowledge.
Licence Checking
Our innovative online licence checking system
enables managers to verify the driving licence status
of all of their drivers at a glance, using a ‘traffic light’
notification dashboard. The system checks licences
to ensure that each driver holds a correct and valid
licence for the vehicles they are driving.
Regular checks are carried out automatically
according to a schedule set by the user, and the
system provides an alert if there is anything the
manager should be aware of. This system helps to
enhance safety, risk management and legal
compliance for Driver Hire customers.
dh Licence check relies on a direct feed from the
UK’s Driver and Vehicle Licensing Agency. We plan
to roll the service out to other countries as this
becomes possible.
Agency Management System (AMS)
This web-based tool allows you to manage all of your agency staff requirements online, and is particularly useful for
large, multi-site organisations who use temporary staff on a regular basis.
AMS can be used to:
• Book temporary staff • Manage timesheets
• Approve invoices • Manage third party agency bookings
AMS helps to improve visibility of staff use and cost controls, improve planning capabilities and improve your booking
fulfilment rate. The system can generate bespoke management reports, which can be delivered directly to you

Training
Why Driver Hire Training?
Our company has over 30 years’
experience in serving the road transport
industry and so we understand the
challenges that face everyone working in
this industry. Our service has been
designed to make everything as simple as
possible.
Driver Hire’s Training department provides
a wide range of training services for our
clients and candidates working within the
transport and logistics industry.
We operate in a heavily regulated industry
and we know how difficult it can be for
drivers and other staff to keep up to speed
with the rules that affect them while they
are at work. At the same time, we believe
we have a responsibility to our customers
to provide staff that are fully aware of
(and comply with) all relevant legislation.
Flexibility
We won’t pin you down to a particular date or
make your drivers travel miles for their training.
We’ll work with you to find a date and venue
that suits your business. We can even come
to you, if you have appropriate facilities.
We will also give you a choice of modules so
you can choose the subjects that you think
will be most useful.
When you book your employees in with
Driver Hire Training, you can be confident
that you are getting great training.
Skills Assessments
On top of our first class driver training,
all of our Driver Hire professional drivers are
put through a complete registration, interview
and driver competence assessment. This is
one of the things that makes Driver Hire
different to many of its competitors.
The purpose of this assessment is not
necessarily to reject candidates but rather
to identify the areas where the candidate,
with the help of Driver Hire, needs to improve
their knowledge or skills.
A range of training modules
is currently available through
Driver Hire Training, including:
• Safe And Fuel Efficient Driving
• Customer Service in the Transport Industry
Planned Training Modules
• Delivery Driving
• Fatigue Management
• Introduction to OH&S
• Manual Handling

In addition to our classroom-based training service we are pleased to introduce Driver Hire
Australia’s range of eLearning services, which are specifically designed to address key issues for
transport operators. Our aim is to help your fleet run more efficiently and profitably.
We currently offer eLearning courses in Fuel Efficient Driving and the Daily Walk Around Check.
Our courses are designed to be fun and interactive, to ensure that drivers engage with the course
and learn effectively. Both courses provide an assessment so that you can see the learning that
has taken place.
Fuel Efficient Driving
Fuel bills account for around a third of the total cost of running a transport operation, and the
savings that can be made by driving in a more fuel efficient way can be really significant.
Our course concentrates on three key areas where fuel can be saved: actions to take before
setting off, techniques for driving on the road, and actions to take when back at base.
Daily Walk Around Check
85% of all defects found in roadside inspections could have been avoided if the driver had
completed their daily walk around check correctly. These checks not only improve safety for the
driver and other road users, but also help to increase legal compliance and can reduce vehicle
maintenance costs.
This course shows learners why the checks are so important, what features need to be checked
inside and outside the vehicle, and the actions to take if any defects are identified.
Please ask for more information on our eLearning range. Further courses are in development.

National Skills Shortage
No one needs to tell you how damaging it can be to your business and brand when
deadlines and customer orders cannot be met due to a shortage of skilled workers.
You only need to watch the news, listen to the radio or even pick up a newspaper to
understand that there is a continuing issue with the availability of high quality, reliable
skilled workers in Australia. Recruitment is steadily becoming a genuine concern for
many Australian businesses.
Whilst Australia is suffering from a skills shortage, many European countries are
experiencing high unemployment rates, meaning that large numbers of highly-skilled
people are looking for work abroad. As a result, many Australian companies who are
struggling to find the right people have turned to international recruitment, and found
it to be a successful alternative – with thousands coming from the UK.
International Recruitment
www.driverhire.com.au
Why Recruit from the UK?
There are many good reasons why it makes sense to recruit from the UK:
• Large population (64.1m)
• High unemployment rate (2.0m aged 16-64)
• Unstable economy with limited employment opportunities and salary cutbacks
• Culture, education and judicial system very similar to Australia
• Visa application process is now swift and straightforward

www.driverhire.com.au
You may already have a recruitment partner who recruits for you in the UK, but always bear in
mind that where they are based will have a direct impact on their ability to recruit the right
candidate workforce for you.
For example, if your UK recruitment partner is based in London and you require oil & gas workers,
they will largely find these kinds of candidates in Scotland, which is at least 650km away.
Driver Hire’s UK Network
• Offices in every major town & city
• Extensive candidate database
• Locally recruited, including face-to-face interviews
• Skills tested to your specific requirements
• Central head office providing support functions e.g. marketing & IT support
Choosing Driver Hire means you can be confident that you’ll have access
to the very best candidates from all areas of the UK.
