2. 5 ways to Engage Your Board
Members in Fundraising
The role of the board is vital in nonprofit development; it is
essential to select the right people, a diverse group of people who
are especially interested in your mission. Therefore small
nonprofits may not always have a competitive advantage when
they choose board members, their first thought might be on
family and friends, and they do not have easy access to outside
sources to assist them in the selection process.
3. Factor to consider
There are two factors for why a nonprofit is not able to grow or raise enough money. The first is that it does not have enough people on its board of
directors. Imagine a nonprofit that has a budget of $250,000 who wishes to reach the goal of raising $550,000 annually, but only has four people on its
board, how will they achieve this goal? The rule of thumb says that your nonprofit is only as good as your board.
