When things in life seems too much too handle

  1. 1. When things in your life seem almost too much to handle, when 24 hours in a day are not enough,
  2. 2. remember the mayonnaise jar and the 2 bottles of Beer.
  3. 3. A professor stood before hisphilosophy class and had some items in front of him.
  4. 4. When the class began, he wordlessly picked up a very large and empty mayonnaise jar andproceeded to fill it with golf balls.
  5. 5. He then asked thestudents if the jar was full. They agreed that it was.
  6. 6. The professorthen picked up a box of pebbles andpoured them into the jar.
  7. 7. He shook the jar lightly. The pebblesrolled into the open areas between the golf balls.
  8. 8. He then asked the studentsagain if thejar was full. They agreed it was.
  9. 9. The professornext picked up abox of sand and poured it into the jar. Ofcourse, the sand filled upeverything else.
  10. 10. He asked once more if the jar was full. The studentsresponded with a unanimous “yes.”
  11. 11. The professor then produced two Beersfrom under the tableand poured the entire contents into the jar effectively filling the empty space between the sand.
  12. 12. The students laughed…
  13. 13. “Now,” said the professor as thelaughter subsided, “I want you to recognize thatthis jar represents your life.”
  14. 14. The golf balls are the important things--- your family, yourchildren, your health, your friends and your favorite passions--- and if everything elsewas lost and only they remained, yourlife would still be full.
  15. 15. The pebbles are the other things thatmatter like your job, your house and your car.
  16. 16. The sand is everything else--- the small stuff.
  17. 17. “If you put the sand into the jar first,” he continued, ”there is no room for the pebbles or the golf balls”.
  18. 18. The same goes for life.
  19. 19. If you spend all your timeand energy on the small stuff you will never have room for the things that are important to you.
  20. 20. Spend time with yourchildren
  21. 21. Spend time with yourparents.
  22. 22. Visit with grandparents.Take yourspouse out to dinner.
  23. 23. Take time to get medicalcheckups.
  24. 24. There will always be time to clean the house and fix the disposal.Take care of the golf balls first---the things that really matter. Set your priorities. The rest is just sand.
  25. 25. One of thestudents raised her hand andinquired what the Beer represented.
  26. 26. The professor smiled and said, “Im glad you asked.”
  27. 27. The Beer justshows you that no matter how full your lifemay seem, theresalways room for a couple of Beers with a friend.
  28. 28. LIFE ISNT ABOUT WAITINGFOR THE STORM TO PASS... ...ITS LEARNING HOW TO DANCE IN THE RAIN
