1. Providing broad range of services, products & tools to our core underwriting teams including GL,
Management & Professional Liability(MPL), Specialty & program business. This role partners withIT &
strive to improve UnderwritingcapabilitiesincollaborationwithUnderwritingHeadsandActuaries.This
includes
Developing & implementing pricing tools and analytical capabilities for Actuaries
Provide toolstoUnderwritersincludingdatarequiredby Underwriting– enhancingtheir
UW efficiency & decision making
Identify and develop areas of improvement with heads of Underwriting & Actuaries
Work with Program manager in implementing new UW processes and pricing tools
working with UW, Operations & Actuaries
Pro-actively partner with IT to ensure that services and projects are delivered
consistently.
Leverage existing products like Duck Creek to standardize US Pricing and Underwriting
Technology stack
Broadly the services can be categorized in to 3 groups
Operations
This part of the responsibility is to ensure current level of services are maintained. Anydisruption to
services will need to be escalated with appropriate resources for resolution.
This part of the function will likely take 10-20% of time except when there are major project
implementations.
Tactical
These are smallerchangesdrivenbyvariousbusinessneeds.These are typicallyshort-mediumterm(2-8
months) of cycle time. This gives us opportunity to make small improvements, changes and fill gaps in
current tools.
Monitoringthisworkis importantas thiscan deliverincrementalimprovementstostakeholderswhileat
same time making sure that the tactical solutions are in sync with strategic direction. Keeping this
improvements going is key to improving services. This area needs better resourcing & execution as this
area gets least attention because of projects’ staffing and pressing day-today operational challenges.
Strategic/ Projects
These are larger projectsthataims to delivervalue tobusinessoveralongperiodof time (9-30 Months).
Some of them are transformational project. Examples of projects include implementing new Policy
issuance process, improving Prima platform, develop new reporting platform for data analysis, Billing
system etc.
Providingdirectionandsupporttothese projectsiscrucial ingettingourreturnontechnologyinvestments
and ensuringthat proposedsolutionsmeetsourcore UW needs.Thistype of projectrequiresmaximum
collaboration between business & IT.
