This document summarizes the results of an initial evaluation conducted with questionnaires distributed to 223 pupils, 446 grandparents, and 20 teachers at the Tiberiu Morariu School in Salva, Romania. The questionnaires focused on interactions between generations, time spent together, traditional games, and interest in joint school activities. Key findings include that most students see their grandparents daily and enjoy activities like playing, reading and cooking together. Both pupils and grandparents expressed interest in more intergenerational programs at school. The conclusion identifies strengths like strong family connections and traditions, but also challenges like teacher bureaucracy and low wages.

Parent Interview Questions and Answers For Private School AdmissionDevin Bisanz
Choosing a private school for your child is a significant decision that requires careful consideration. Private schools can offer a wide range of benefits, such as smaller class sizes, specialized programs, and a strong sense of community, but it is important for parents to research and evaluate the options available to them. One effective way to do this is through the use of parent-school interviews.
During a parent-school interview, parents have the opportunity to ask the school's representatives questions and gather information about the school's educational philosophy, curriculum, extracurricular activities, faculty qualifications, and more. By preparing and practicing interview questions beforehand, parents can ensure that they are well-informed and able to make an informed decision about the best school for their child.
One of the most important things to consider when researching private schools is the student-teacher ratio. Smaller class sizes can lead to a more personalized and individualized education, and can allow for more one-on-one attention from teachers. This can be especially beneficial for students who need extra support or who are struggling in a particular subject. Additionally, smaller class sizes can also lead to a more engaging and interactive learning environment.
Another key aspect to consider is the school's philosophy on education. Different schools may have different approaches to teaching and learning, and it is important for parents to understand how these philosophies align with their own values and goals for their child's education. For example, some schools may place a strong emphasis on STEM education, while others may focus more on the arts or humanities.
Extracurricular activities are also an important consideration for many parents. These activities can offer students a chance to explore new interests, develop new skills, and make friends outside of the classroom. Additionally, research has shown that students who participate in extracurricular activities tend to have higher academic achievement, better attendance rates, and lower dropout rates.
Another important aspect to consider is the school's approach to discipline and behavior management. It is important for parents to understand how the school handles discipline, and what the expectations are for student behavior. Additionally, it is also important to understand what kind of support the school provides for students who may be struggling with behavior or discipline issues.
For parents of children with special needs, it is important to research and understand the school's special needs support services. This can include accommodations for students with disabilities, as well as specialized programs and resources to help students who may be struggling with specific issues. It is also important to ask about the qualifications and experience of the staff who work with special needs students.

Trying to maneuver your way through the preschool admissions process can be both complicated and overwhelming. Choosing the right preschool is the first educational decision you will make for your child and it is a major one. Research shows that the child’s first school experience sets a precedence for how the child will view school throughout their educational career.
This process is difficult and confusing and many parents choose preschools based on the recommendation of others. While the opinion of other parents matters each child is unique and what may be right for one child may not be for another. This seminar addresses the different schools of thought for preschools (developmentally appropriate, Montessori, Reggio Emilia, Waldorf and Cooperative), what to ask at interviews and open houses and what to look for when visiting the schools.
Please join Karina Money, M.A. to find out how to operate within the complex world of the preschool admissions process. Karina Money is the President of Right Path / New England, Boston’s premier educational consulting firm in Cambridge, MA and is the mother of a three year old son who is about to embark on his preschool journey this Fall.

2024.06.01 Introducing a competency framework for languag learning materials ...Sandy Millin
http://sandymillin.wordpress.com/iateflwebinar2024
Published classroom materials form the basis of syllabuses, drive teacher professional development, and have a potentially huge influence on learners, teachers and education systems. All teachers also create their own materials, whether a few sentences on a blackboard, a highly-structured fully-realised online course, or anything in between. Despite this, the knowledge and skills needed to create effective language learning materials are rarely part of teacher training, and are mostly learnt by trial and error.
Knowledge and skills frameworks, generally called competency frameworks, for ELT teachers, trainers and managers have existed for a few years now. However, until I created one for my MA dissertation, there wasn’t one drawing together what we need to know and do to be able to effectively produce language learning materials.
This webinar will introduce you to my framework, highlighting the key competencies I identified from my research. It will also show how anybody involved in language teaching (any language, not just English!), teacher training, managing schools or developing language learning materials can benefit from using the framework.
A Strategic Approach: GenAI in EducationPeter Windle
Artificial Intelligence (AI) technologies such as Generative AI, Image Generators and Large Language Models have had a dramatic impact on teaching, learning and assessment over the past 18 months. The most immediate threat AI posed was to Academic Integrity with Higher Education Institutes (HEIs) focusing their efforts on combating the use of GenAI in assessment. Guidelines were developed for staff and students, policies put in place too. Innovative educators have forged paths in the use of Generative AI for teaching, learning and assessments leading to pockets of transformation springing up across HEIs, often with little or no top-down guidance, support or direction.
This Gasta posits a strategic approach to integrating AI into HEIs to prepare staff, students and the curriculum for an evolving world and workplace. We will highlight the advantages of working with these technologies beyond the realm of teaching, learning and assessment by considering prompt engineering skills, industry impact, curriculum changes, and the need for staff upskilling. In contrast, not engaging strategically with Generative AI poses risks, including falling behind peers, missed opportunities and failing to ensure our graduates remain employable. The rapid evolution of AI technologies necessitates a proactive and strategic approach if we are to remain relevant.

Conclusion:
• The results of questionnaires were determined by specific social situation in our
village( Salva) families are mixed composed of two or more generations living in
the same building or in common courtyard with other relatives.
• Results from these surveys are good ,baseline is set up but we will continue
efforts through project activities to increase these percentages.
• A significant percentage of our students have gone abroad one or both parents
and their role in dynamics family are taken up by grandparents.
• Our institution has developed a local strategy of involvement in the learning
process grandparents and parents through work-shops, open lessons, training
parents, common excursions, home visits at students, celebrations and festivals.
• In last years we notice a return to local traditions( material and immaterial
patrimony ) and our project in school and the local community has a positive
impact special on pupils interest. Our students see their grandparents every day
and spend a lot of time with them.

Conclusion:
• Besides the specific age activities our students are involved in agricultural
activities on subsistence farm with grand-parents and parents.
• Desire of students especially those from secondary cycle to participate in activities
with other specific( theater, movies, study trip, work-shops) than curricular area.
• The role of teachers is well established at the school level is recommended during
courses as creative moments, some workshops, puppet theater, shadow theater.
• Bureaucracy and numerous documents occupy an important time in the program
of teachers, and low wages being a risk factor in the project.
• Positive responses received from the categories surveyed cause us to say
traditional games can still survive and grandparents did their duty to transmit this
knowledge to grandchildren.
