Philosophical thoughts
The Sutta-Nipāta contains some of the oldest
discourses in the Pali Canon. It is a rich source
of texts offering guidance to lay Buddhists and
also abounds in suttas that extol the
contemplative ideals of early Buddhism.
Though the Sutta-Nipāta as a collection exists
only in the Theravada tradition, some of the
individual suttas are found in other traditions.
One whole chapter, the Aṭṭhakavagga, is also
found in the Chinese Tripiṭaka.
Vasla sutta and parabava sutta are well known suttas by
people.
Metta and rathana and mangala sutta also very common
among Buddhists.
Kayaviccandi sutta occupies to the realization of body
Brhamana dammika sutta gives details on the moral
qualities of brhamin .
Concepts of god or deities can be seen in maha samaya
sutta
 biography of Buddha can be seen in pabbajja sutta and
padhana sutta
It is intended that sutta nipata has accent of Sanskrit
language and it proves the ancient of this sutta nipatha
Examples
In the mangala sutta , each verses gives separate
meaning and it can be seen in philosophical
manner thus
 1. The opening inquiry: What is truly auspicious,
truly a blessing?
 2. Orientation: cultivating the conditions for
discretion
3. Establishing secure foundations: the inner and
outer requisites for success in life
4. Preparations: training oneself for success in life
5, 6: Leading a virtuous life in the world: Fulfilling family
responsibilities
6. Becoming a pillar of society
7. Personal ethics: A life of moral integrity
8, 9. Developing a spiritual life: Cultivating inner virtues
10. The ascent towards realization: practicing and attaining
the world-transcending Dhamma
11. Fulfillment: Embodying the world-transcending Dhamma
in the world
12. Conclusion: These are victorious everywhere; they attain
security everywhere
Conclusion
In the sense of finding philosophical
thoghts in sutta nipata, it is clear that
,all most all the suttas provides a
wide range of doctrinal facts related
to ,moral ideas, ethics,responsibilities
,duties and historical moments in the
dispensation. Value of this sutta
nipata is immeasurable . And all the
followers of Buddhism must go
through this valuble part of main
canon
