Prepositions are short words (on, in, at) that indicates Place, Time, Movement.
Usually before the noun / sometimes after gerunds.
If you were to translate this could have various definitions base on what you are trying
to express, there are more than 100 prepositions and endless phrasal verbs (Verb +
Preposition).
Preposition of place : Shows location ( I am AT the bank)
Prepositions of time: Shows time ( Class IN the morning )
Prepositions of movement: Shows movement from one place to another ( Sara walks
TO work )

3. Preposition of Place
Prepositions of place shows location these are similar to the adverbs of place the difference is that now you are
telling where someone or something is, Prepositions could be precise or it could be vague as you might be able
to notice there are 3 common prepositions (at, on, in) but these aren't the only ones the list includes: By, next,
next to, beside, under, below, underneath, over, above, across through, into towards, onto, from. The list goes
on..
● At = shows exact location. Eg: Im at the bank.
● On = Horizontal or vertical surfaces. Eg; Sara works on the 1st floor.
● In = something with boundaries. Eg: Do you live in Cali?

Prepositions of time brings time into focus, again these are similar to adverbs of time the difference is placing
that someone or something in time. We will focus on the following (At, On, In) but the list includes: Since, For,
Ago, Before, To, Past, To, Till/Until, By.
● At = Shows specific time Eg: The teller opens At 8 O’Clock.
● On = Shows specific Days or Special dates (Bdays, Anniversary, Xmas) Eg: Sara’s Bday is On
December 1st.
● In = Shows non-specific time during the day, week, month or year. Eg: I’ll start class In january.

5. Prepositions of movement
Prepositions of movement shows movement from one place to another, these are easier, the list includes:
Across, Along, Around, Away, Back, Down, Into, Off, Onto (on to), Out of, Over, Past, Round, Through, To,
Towards, Under, Up. Today we will focus on the following. ( Across, Into, Onto, To).
● Across = Movement from one place/surface to another. Eg: Draw a line Across
● Into = None moving surface / space. Eg: Get Into the room
● Onto = Motion / surface. Eg: Sara got Onto the train.
● To = Specific destination. Eg: Walk to the cashier.
