3. Animal Feeding Behaviour
All organism need for their growth and development feeding habit and behaviour
differ from animal to animals . It’s also depend food in habitat.
Animal feeding behaviour is an important aspect of animal production as it
provide the link between food being provided, the time required to consume the
food and what is consumed .
Measuring feeding behaviour can be used to understand how animals perceive
the food provided . .
4. Different types of Feeding Behaviour
Filter feeding – Obtaining nutrients from particles suspended in water .
Example – Whales , Shark whales , Sharks , dolphins and many fishes .
Deposit feeding – obtaining nutrients from particles suspended in soil.
Example – Gastropod, starfish .
Fluid feeding – obtaining nutrients from consuming other organism fluid .
Example – Spiders , Vampire bats , leeches .
Bulk feeding – obtaining nutrients by eating all of an organism .
Example – Humans , snakes
5. There are classes in which animals can be classified
on the basis of their eating behaviour.
Herbivores
Animals that eat only plants .
Sharp front teeth .
Because of their plant diet herbivores
animals typically have mouthpart adapted
to rasping and grinding .
Example – Goat, Deer , Cows , Giraffe
Carnivorous
Animals feed on flesh of other animals.
Because eating meat there energy and
nutrients requirements come from diet .
They have strong molars for chewing the
flesh and bones .
Example – Lion, tiger , Fox
6. Omnivores
Animals that eat both plant and animals .
Some of them will hunt and other are who
eat dead matter most omnivores eat eggs
of other animals or birds .
Example – Bear , Crow , human
Scavenger
Feed on dead animals and plants materi
present in their habitats.
They play important role in the ecosyste
by consuming dead animals and plants
Example – crow , Hyena , vulture
7. Saprophytes are decomposers since they
feed on the dead and decaying matter .
Suitable conditions are required for the
optimum growth of saprophytes.
Example – Mosquito
Parasites
Many parasites animals such as fleas ,
ticks and lice feed on the blood of larger
animals by attaching themselves to their
host they get a ready meal whenever it
want .
Parasites can also indirectly affect the
behaviour of their hosts by distrubing
their metabolism, development or
immunity .
Saprophytes
8. Migration
What is Migration ?
Each year groups of animals travel from one place to another this is called migration . Their journey may
be very long or quite short and happen at certain times in the year usually when the season changes .
Which animals migrates ?
Some mammals , Amphibians , reptiles, Birds , fishes and insects migrate.
Why do animals migrates ?
Not all animals migrates . Migrations can help some animals to survive . They can migrate from one
habitat to another to find more food or better weather. They might also be looking for a good place to
breed and raise their Young ones . They also migrate to find the prefect place to hibernate . ( Hibernate
– animals finds a safe place and stay there until winter ends )
9. Migration of Birds
Migration is the yearly , seasonal journey undertaken by many species of birds .
During this journey birds cover distance of many kilometres. The most common
type of migration are those carried out by birds in the spring and the auntum .
10. But smaller birds
like Robins
migrate in night. .
LARGE BIRDS LIKE
GEESE AND BIRDS OF
PREY USUALLY
MIGRATE DURING THE
DAY .
11. Birds Migration in
India .
Last month birds watcher documented eight birds
European roller , Red backed , Ted tailed shrike

checked bee enter and landed in Bhuj in Kutch
district, Gujarat .
These birds Are called Passage migrate take a short
break to rest and in western India before crossing
the Indian Ocean to reach their wintering ground in
Africa .
12. Migration in Fishes
Many species of fishes wander annually through a particular area of the ocean .
Some are true migrate , travelling regularly over great distance .
Like Anadromous fish , Sailfish , Dolphin
14. COMMUNICATION IN ANIMALS .
The animal Communication system also known as Anicoms , refers to the
methods and system animals use to communicate with each other belonging
to the same species or to transmit signals to the animals belongs to other
species or to human.
Animal Communication is also known as Biological communication.
Animals have there own to communicate like whale song , wolf howls , frog
croaks , birds chirps even the wiggling dance of honeybees or the wagging
of a dog tail .
15.
16. Visual – what you can see . These are actions or posture that shows a mood.
Dog that wag their trails are happy.
Peacocks use their amazing trail to attract attention.
