Computer Assisted Exercises (CAX)
is referring to an exercise
methodology where simulation is
used to train personnel in a realistic
environment, which cannot, most of
times, be represented differently.
Simulation is a procedure that offers
the capability to represent, usually
via computer software, a real or
“fantastic” entity or a set of entities
and the relations between them, or
a whole system, in order to train
people in it or test its operational
characteristics.
Experimentation in CAX is the
method to test different ways of
acting during the exercise and
provide operational people useful
conclusions about certain behavior
of their personnel under specific
circumstances.
Operational Game is the methodology
which use simulation for representing
rational or irrational scenarios and give
the chance to operational planners for
testing, evaluating and optimizing their
planning.
Simulation Model is computer software
which combines a mathematical
(algorithmic) structure and a graphics
model to simulate certain systems or
environments and provide results of
the simulated entities actions.
Training Audience is the set of people that
will be trained during a CAX.
Serious game, as a training method, is a
realistic representation of a situation, where
the player through a gaming process is
training himself in one or more aspects.

vulnerabilities and opportunities for cyber-attack.
Cyber exercises are an important tool to assess the preparedness of an organization against cyber crises,
validate procedures, test contingency plans and raise cyber security awareness amongst staffs. There are
different types of exercises referring to different target audience each time.
Through the process of CAX we are undoubtedly optimizing current staff procedures and decision
making processes in synchronization with all other stakeholders in the area of responsibility.

11. Computer Assisted Exercises for History
CAX can be used for connecting present with future through simulation models that are used
for representing scenarios. CAX can also connect present with past and be a useful tool for
training personnel based on historical studies.
MSETT has two major projects on the run, the naval battle of Navarinon (July 1827) and the
Gallipoli Campaign (1915). Both these historical events have their own significant value and
there are many agencies worldwide willing to participate in the above mentioned events.

games and also there is the capability of creating avatars and realistic situations in specialized
