La zeolita es un conjunto de aluminosilicatos hidratados que es ampliamente utilizada como catalizador en la industria.
Usualmente se sintetiza a partir de soluciones acuosas de silicato y aluminato de sodio. Kerr [J. Phys. Chem., vol 70 p 1947
(1966)] y S. Liu [Chem. Eng. Sci. vol 24 p.57 (1969)] han estudiado un método de síntesis a partir de aluminosilicato de sodio en
forma de sustrato amorfo y una solución acuosa de NaOH. La reacción se efectúa en dos pasos y Liu describe la cinética como:
DISEÑO DE UN REACTOR BATCH
Hay que notar que la reacción es catalizada por
la presencia de producto, dado que CZ aparece en el
numerador de la ecuación cinética. Las reacciones de
este tipo se les denomina autocatalíticas. A 100°C, las
constantes tienen valores de :

Se desea utilizar un tanque conteniendo 1 kg/m3 de zeolita y 24 kg/m3 de sustrato amorfo.
(a) Determinar el tiempo de residencia necesario para llevar el sustrato amorfo de zeolita al 98% de conversión en un reactor batch
perfectamente agitado. Considerar la operación isotérmica a 100°C y una concentración de hidróxido de 1.5 kmol/m3.
(b) Suponiendo que las condiciones de reacción son las descritas anteriormente, determinar el tamaño de reactor y el peso de carga
necesario para producir zeolita a un monto de 2,000 kg/día. Solo se utilizará un reactor y son necesarios 30 min entre corridas para
remover el producto, limpiar el reactor y cargar los reactivos. La zeolita recirculada al reactor proviene de las 2 toneladas que se
producen diariamente.

  • 1. La zeolita es un conjunto de aluminosilicatos hidratados que es ampliamente utilizada como catalizador en la industria. Usualmente se sintetiza a partir de soluciones acuosas de silicato y aluminato de sodio. Kerr [J. Phys. Chem., vol 70 p 1947 (1966)] y S. Liu [Chem. Eng. (a) Determinar el tiempo de residencia necesario para llevar el sustrato amorfo de zeolita al 98% de conversión en un reactor batch perfectamente agitado. Considerar la operación isotérmica a 100°C y una concentración de hidróxido de 1.5 kmol/m3. (b) Suponiendo que las condiciones de reacción son las descritas anteriormente, determinar el tamaño de reactor y el peso de carga necesario para producir zeolita a un monto de 2,000 kg/día. Solo se utilizará un reactor y son necesarios 30 min entre corridas para remover el producto, limpiar el reactor y cargar los reactivos.
