Kimberly Pierce decided to do a remake of Carrie in 2013, following its popularity in the seventies
because she found the original story so great. She sees how we can all relate to Carrie White. We
all want to fit in and be accepted, and are all a little crazy at times when this doesn’t happen.
The plot behind Carrie is a fairly simple one. With the main reason that chaos is coming to her
town is because she is a bully victim and has a bad relationship with her religious mother, the film
looks like it’s following the codes and conventions well. The budget between the two films
drastically changes with the 1976 film only costing an estimate at $1,800,000 whereas the
modern, 2013 version cost about $30,000,000.
The target audience for Carrie is teenagers and young adults and casting Chloe in this role fits the
target profile well because of her looks and acting styles. Using an actress like this helps keep the film
up to date and modern like Kimberly Pierce wanted to do.

I think the soundtrack for the remake of Carrie is good; it fits the genre of the film and delivers a
creepy atmosphere. This will be appealing to the target audience which would be young adults.
