The breakfast club title research

1. The first text shown on screen is the
production and distributing company Universal
Pictures. This is first on screen because they
produced the film and are the most important.
The font is big and gold which reflects the power
and size of universal pictures and captures all of
the audiences’ attention. There is also a 3D effect
on the words which makes it stand out even more.
The text stays still
on the screen.
The font may also
catch the
attention of a
younger audience
because they like
bright colours.
There is trendy
music playing
throughout the
opening sequence.

2. This is the second bit of text shown on screen and
is the name of the other two production
companies involved in producing the film.
Although they are more important than actors
and directors they aren’t as big as Universal
pictures so they aren’t shown at the same time.
The font is different here and is gold and more thin and neat. This font and format
is different to other coming of age films I have studies as it is more neat and
formal unlike most of them that are more childish and less serious. This could
imply that it’s a different type of coming of age film.

3. This next bit says ‘A John Hughes film’. John Hughes is the director of
the film and was a very famous director at the time. The fact that
they say this very early on in the opening titles suggest they want to
show off the fact that he directed the film so that people think it will
be a good film.
The font is the same but the
colour is more intense on the
words John and Hughes to make
them stand out.
The text stays
in the same
place on the
screen and
doesn’t move
at all.
A black background is
used to make the gold
text stand out.
