1. It isn’t often you come across a great boss — but I did, in Todd Breton.!
!
I’ve worked in the insurance claims business since 1977 but it wasn’t until 2010 that my path
crossed with Todd’s. He was a manager in the Quality Assurance department with Liberty
Mutual and I had applied for a job on his team. I had met Todd prior to applying for this job
when he conducted some workshops in the office where I worked. I was impressed by his
approach to people and his knowledge of the subject matter. So, when I applied for the job, I
was pleased to be granted an interview with Todd and eventually, he hired me!!
!
I worked for Todd for about three years. In that time, I observed his ability to relate to many
different personality types, his work ethic and his management skills among many other work
habits. Todd was always up for a challenge and was always available when an issue arose that
needed his involvement. Whether it was a conflict in opinions or a technical issue, he either
knew the answer or found it quickly and easily soothed the situation. He demonstrated many
times over how his calm demeanor could diffuse a volatile situation. I always knew that I could
contact Todd at any time to discuss a problem and he would guide me down the right path.!
!
Todd was always quick to compliment me on my positive assets as well as point out opportunity
areas without sounding critical, which leads to good morale within the team and creates an
atmosphere where employees want to grow and advance within the company.!
!
I’ve had several managers since Todd but none that I felt as comfortable with as Todd, talking
about work problems, future job opportunities and home and family life as well. I’d welcome him
back as my manager any time.!
