For the last five years I have been working globally for Schlumberger Oilfield Services within their marine exploration
segment WesternGeco working off-shore in Brazil, USA, Canada, Egypt, Norway, India, Madagascar, Ivory Coast and The
Netherlands. This has been incredibly interesting work and has allowed me to come into contact and work with many
different cultures, languages and religions. I am a very enthusiastic, sociable person and this helps me to work very well in
teams as either a leader or in another position. One of my main strengths is my ability to work under pressure which allows
me to consistently hit deadlines. I am currently looking to pursue an MSc in Transport Planning.

Employment:
Schlumberger Oilfield Services, Worldwide:
Positioning Specialist
September2010 – January 2016
Operating offshore in many different locations globally - including the Gulf of Mexico, the Barents sea in the
Arctic circle and offshore Mumbai, India. I worked as part of a multinational crew on-board a vessel conducting
seismic surveys of the geological subsurface. For the past four years, I have been based on WG Magellan.
Achievements –
- Was part of the team that undertook a 3D WAZ survey with Shell in Canada. Which was not only a first with the
technique and technology for the area, but was also completed a year ahead of schedule.
- Worked in one of the most difficult environments in the field in India and helped produce some of the best quality
data that experienced staff had seen.
- Has trained multiple junior members of staff on how to use the equipment and systems.
- An essential part of the experienced workboat crew.
- Helps to manage the on-board Client’s understanding of the work.
- Worked in dangerous seas to troubleshoot malfunctioning equipment that eventually saved the Company upwards
of $2 million USD in repairs.
- Has created Standard Operating Procedure documents for third party contractors on the use of the equipment and
systems as well as giving demonstrations, allowing delegation of work-loads.
- Completion of the Schlumberger specialist program which entails a number of courses, assessed work modules
(practical and theoretical) and advancement up two grades within a two year timeframe.
2. Duties–
- Maintenance of positioning equipment including acoustic ranging and GPS devices.
- A key member of the Loss Prevention Team
- Monitoring of all positioning aspects of production.
- Post processing of recorded spatial datasets including data conditioning, filtering and analysis of erroneous data.
- Sole management of the Master Log which notes all work activity on the boat and is fed through to high level
management for data analysis and Client recharging purposes.
- Assisting in installation, operation, maintenance and repair of all equipment and systems across the boat.
- Producing and presenting Close Pass Plans to the Maritime staff which calculates the proximity that the boat can
safely work around obstructions e.g. Oil Rigs.
- Managing the shipping and delivery of equipment for the departments including the creation of POs.
- Working on a 5 week rotation for a 12 hour shift cycle whilst on-board.
- Cross—departmental communication regarding equipment maintenance and general operations.
Defence Geographic Centre, Feltham, London:
Geospatial Analyst
March 2009 – September 2010
My tasks included support to operations as well as production of multiple imagery products. Within my post I
was also responsible for briefing internal, external and international partners and did so on multiple occasions.
Assisted with the introduction and integration of new hardware and software to my section. Helped to set a
product program back on schedule after significant neglect by the previous project leader.
Software Experience
Microsoft Office
TRINAV
Proprietary Schlumberger software used for survey planning, recording of positioning data, processing of positing data
and quality control of final products.
Map Info
3 years of regular use. Skills include digitising, use of SQL and Map Basic as well as the manipulation of raster
datasets.
SocetSet
A year and a half of daily use. Used to manipulate stereo imagery to create orthomocaics. Also used for the creation
and manipulation of digital elevation models.
Erdas Imagine
A year of regular use. Skills include exploitation of satellite and aerial imagery. Use of image fusion tools and Imagine
Auto Sync expansion.
AutoCad
Minor use to manipulate .dwg files
Relevant University Module Experience
Satellite Position Systems
Gained knowledge of the theories and concepts of SPS and undertook a project to update OS landline data around my
university campus.
Remote Sensing
Gained understanding of remote sensing and the different operations from pre-processing to product creation utilising
remotely sensed data. Undertook project to classify imagery of my campus.
Project Management
Gained a sound understanding of the concepts of project management, budgeting and planning techniques. Used this
knowledge to produce a fictional survey expedition project proposal.
Field Surveying
Learned theories, practices and gained experience in planning and undertaking major field projects. Culminating in a
planned week long field trip to the Isle of Wight to produce multiple mapping products and the associated technical
reports.
