Objective
I am interested in a career that combines both financial market related understanding (Qualitative and
Quantitative) along with an application of interpersonal skills. I am drawn to financial markets and invest a lot of
time staying up to date with the current global economic environment. I describe myself as a willing and avid
learner, having a strong positive attitude, career driven and well-rounded skills. I would like to travel to broaden

Summary
I am 26 years old and have successfully completed my Honors Degree in Financial Management Sciences at the
University of Pretoria in 2013.
I have 2 years industry relevant experience as a Financial Controller. My current duties primarily include the

as a commodity controller for a Multi National trading firm has taught me time management in high pressure

Financial Controller
As a Financial controller for the Southern Africa office, I am mainly responsible for all country specific
commercial margin figures, which incorporates the Trade-to-Cash process, Mark-to-market of all open positions
and implementation of counter risk strategies. I am also responsible for the monthly presentation of the countries
accounting figures as well as market related reasons for the figures and strategies going forward. Lastly I am
responsible for the Junior Controller, signing off their daily work and Training and development. Other activities
include:
Formulation of Cash flow forecast –managing the entire flow of information, analyzing figures and
formulating controls
Improvement of processes and controls between departments – mainly prevalent in Trade – to –cash
process. Initiation, open contract mark-to-market, pricing, invoicing and delivery.
Seeing to daily various requests by top management – reporting and risk
General excel file improvement/automation between departments (Accounting/Trading/Execution and

As a Junior Financial controller for SAF, I was mainly responsible for all the Daily commercial Margin
computation and comparison. These activities included computation of Safex MTM (Futures and Options),
inputting Physical Cash trades and Forex trades. Reconciliation of Net position and P&L against Traders
adjusting either side on differences found.
