Are you open to all majors?
Yes, FTG is open to all majors.
Why should I apply?
FTG members get a unique experiential
learning opportunity in currency trading,
networking opportunities, resume advice,
interview experience, and the opportunity to
travel and meet contacts in the finance
industry.
What times do you trade?
We trade at 1AM, 5AM, 9AM, 1PM, 5PM,
and 9PM. You will not have to trade each
time – you will usually only make 4 trades a
week. Members periodically rotate trade
times and members are never required to
trade during a scheduled class time.

JUNIOR TRADER PROGRAM
The Jr. Trader Program is an immersive
educational experience required for all
new hires. It includes topics such as
FOREX fundamentals, options, futures,
candlestick charting, economic and
technical indicators, Excel training,
professionalism, and interview
preparedness. In addition, an optional
class on Visual Basic for Applications
(VBA) is taught twice a week and is
open to all members of the Flyer
Trading Group. This course provides
fundamental training in VBA and is
required for those interested in the
modeling and risk departments.
2. THE TEAM:
• 38 Members
• 5 Departments
Operations: Responsible for day to day necessities of FTG. Positions within this department
include Policies and Procedures, Senior and Junior Banker, and Financial Reporting.
Business Development: Responsible for both internal development and marketing. Positions
within this department include Marketing Team, Website Developer, Social Chairperson and Trip
Coordinator.
Trading: Responsible for trading and trade validation in addition to heading the Jr Trader program.
The fundamentals team, which works as a part of the trading department, produces a weekly report
consisting of economic indicators and news.
Modeling: Responsible for the development and continued improvement of the model. Positions
within this department include Jr Model Analysts and Sr Model Analysts who assist in back testing
potential adaptations to the model such as a new indicator.
Risk: Responsible for FTG’s operational and trading risk through industry standard risk
measurements. Positions within this department include Verification team, Benchmark team, and
Analysis team.
WHAT IS THE FLYER TRADING GROUP?
The Flyer Trading Group is a student-run, leveraged, currency portfolio. We
trade using a non-discretionary, algorithmic, grey-box model, which utilizes
technical indicators such as Exponential Moving Average and Relative
Strength Index in order to achieve alpha. We use industry standard risk
measurements to manage our book such as variance-covariance VaR,
volatility, Sharpe ratio, Sortino ratio, and Information ratio.
