Section 1: Translation comments *
How closely does the translation reflect the source text? Is the overall meaning
conveyed but with subtle parts missing? Is the text translated too literally and
therefore lacking a native quality? Where has the translator done particularly well?
Generally, the meaning is conveyed. Careful however to not “over localise” and change
the original meaning sometimes. For instance:
le masque de ski Airbrake™ XL vous permet de vous adapter (the translator went too
far from the source and is therefore changing the meaning, as well as making it
unclear in French)

Section 2: Localisation comments *
The objective is to guide the in-house translator as to where she or he could, if
possible (or required), revise their work and process to help make the text read like it
is an original article. Any reference to particularly outstanding phrases would also be
beneficial.
The translator has great localisation abilities. He’s not afraid of going away from the
source to convey the meaning without being too literal. I only found one instance
when the localisation was clumsy:
L'écran en polycarbonate moulé par injection sous pression extrême afin de sublimer
les contours sans les altérer. (missing verb makes it difficult to understand the French)

Section 3: Language comments *
It is understood that matching the English style may have been followed so
grammar rules may have been twisted to grab the reader’s attention. Any examples
where this has occurred can be highlighted but may be relevant to the style of text
so may not require a lower mark IF it works.
Grammar and spelling are good, I only found one error:
Une sangle amovible est également inclue. (incluse is the correct feminine form)

Section 4: Quality comments *
This section is to highlight and discuss the overall quality of the translation(s).
Does the tone of voice match the source text? Does the text emulate the same
style of writing as that of the English source? Has the translator been creative to
convey the message in her or his native language at points where it may not be
possible to match the English nuances?
The style and tone are excellent. I particularly enjoy the marketing influence.

Section 5: Key development points *
In this final section please suggest where the translator should focus to develop
their translation abilities further. Five key focal points would be ideal.
The only advice I can give is proofread your work thoroughly.
Section 6: Overall score and Recommendation
Please score the translator out of 20:
18
Would you recommend this translator for future projects? Why?
Yes, I have no complaints about their work, but advise that they proofread more
thoroughly.
