2.1 Production Planning Superintendent (BCP BHP Billiton)
• Responsible for coal planning and scheduling based on geological qualities (CV,
ash, yield) to determine the optimum feed to the different production plants
(North Export Plant, North Middling’s plant, South Export Plant, South Eskom
plant)
• Responsible for annual production budgets for 4 plants.
• Responsible for long term planning – life of asset and 5 year plans for BECSA –
calculation of saleable coal tons, CV, ash, volatiles and Sulphur content.

• Responsible for monthly forecast with full year view, including collaboration with
marketing as to product requirements for shipping.
• Responsible for scheduling coal on a daily basis to meet monthly forecast, taking
planned and unplanned maintenance, as well as logistic constraints into
consideration.
• Optimize daily sales within quality specification to the domestic market
(PowerStation) and export markets.
• Daily analysis of bottlenecks including overland conveyors, filling requested train
capacity (on external and internal rail), as well as stockpile management to enable
BCP to meet sales commitments

2.2 Production forecasting analyst (Anglo Platinum)
• Responsible for daily and monthly forecasting of production in smelting and
refining operations – resigned from Anglo Platinum due to economic climate in
Platinum industry in 2012 and Rustenburg region. Relocated to Mpumalanga.
2.3 Business improvement Manager (Siphumelele Mine)
• Managing business improvement projects including labor productivity (improving
the m2/employee KPI), electricity and water saving initiatives (project to use
gravity feed to increase water supply to Siphumelele mine from neighboring
(closed) shaft.
• Applying technology including ‘hole directors’ to improve underground drilling
patterns and increase the advance per blast.
• Initiate implementation of underground stores, and implement reclamation of
material from underground areas.
• Improve labor performance by initiating a training program (using a mock up
stope) focusing on the least productive crews, and enhancing the understanding of
the bonus structure.
2.4 Asset Optimization Training facilitator & management of graduates
in Anglo Platinum
• Applying the Asset Optimization framework (developed from six sigma & lean
principles) to identify opportunities; prioritize ideas and develop business
improvement projects within Anglo Platinum.
• Analyst responsible for identifying opportunities to reduce unavailability’s
(absenteeism) within Anglo Platinum.
• Responsible for analyzing contractor information for Anglo Platinum.
• Part of the Anglo Platinum Asset Optimization steering committee.
• Facilitating and developing Asset Optimization training – to create a paradigm shift
towards business improvement throughout the company, and rolling out this
program to 1400 middle to upper management employees.

• Management and development of graduate metallurgists and the advanced
graduate development program in conjunction with UCT
2.5 Process Metallurgist: Rustenburg Base Metals Refineries – Anglo
Platinum
• Responsible for the Boilers-, Cobalt-, and Water treatment Plants in 2007
• These responsibilities include the management of the final products (Cobalt) as
well as the input streams into these sections through investigation of the assays of
each section also doing a cobalt balance across the plant to optimize our Cobalt
recovery.
• Responsible for the management of the water treatment companies used on site
(anodamine, improchem & GE Betz)
• Monitoring of the leach conditions and blend inputs into our Autoclaves on a daily
basis.
• Determining the current efficiencies of the Ni and Cu tankhouse.
• Optimizing production various projects, including mass balances to determine the
optimum reagent dosage.
• Completion of a program (vba) to update and display the assays for the boiler
section automatically, to save time and improve the monitoring of this section.
• Initiated a system for the recording of the current efficiency data in the tankhouse
and Packaging and transport department, that eliminates human error, reduces
the possibility of theft and improve communication between these departments.
• Yearly budgeting roles included drawing up the utilities budget for 2008 and
leaching budget for 2009.
• Responsible for improving Co recovery in the whole BMR.
• Material balances around the secondary leach operation to yield in problem
solving and also the determination of KLa (mass transfer coefficient) calculations to
determine the extent of mass transfer controlled conditions in the secondary leach
autoclave.
• Management and development of reporting Plant Metallurgists.
2.6 Employment at the South African Breweries limited (SAB) 2006-2007
Position: Management Trainee
• Project manager for the conversion of the Thohoyandou depot to an independent,
outsourced Honey BEE distributor. This included changing the site layout, building
new offices, appointing a new distributor manager, compiling the whole business
case for this conversion, financial calculations to determine the capex and
distributor fee. I also investigated the effects of changes in the existing customer
base, and was involved in the trade boundaries negotiations.
• Reopening the Phalaborwa depot to relief peak warehouse space constraints at
neighboring depots.
• I took over the responsibility for the two independent distributors (Ermelo and
Makhado) in North region; to ensure that they are operated within SAB’s audit

criteria. The Makhado distributor’s audit results improved to 98% and Ermelo to
83%.
• Acting warehouse manager Garankuwa depot (1.5 weeks). These responsibilities
included ensuring that the 3*8 shifts are operating efficiently, solving employee
conflict, managing stock rotation, performing employee assessment. Ensuring that
the warehouse key performance indicators are kept within the allowed limits and
striving to perfect the operation and warehouse throughput.
• I developed a market potential study (from an operations viewpoint) for Waltloo
depot, to determine the optimal designated marked area (DMA) for market
penetration.
