The Message/Didache: The John Series Part 9C This Temple C
3. - John 2:18-21
- In John 2, the Lord started His ministry in Galilee and this is clarified in Acts 10:37.
- When the Lord had completed His fasting in the Judean desert, he went into the Temple. In
the Beit HaMikidash/Holy Temple, he met money changers and merchandisers. The Lord
chased them out proclaiming, ‘… make my Father’s house an house of merchandise’ [John
2:16]. The Judean desert:
- In John 2:19, the Lord did not say destroy the temple but rather He said, ‘destroy this temple’
in which case, he was not referring to the Temple at Jerusalem later on pointing to, in the
direction of, the Judean Temple. The Judean Temple:
- The Jews had their own definition of what the Lord meant in John 2:19 when He said, ‘Destroy
this Temple’. Their deduction was that the Lord was referring to the Jerusalem Temple as put in
4. John 2:20. They insinuated that the Lord meant the Judean Temple of which, by revelation,
Apostle John interpreted that this Temple was referring to the Lord’s body.
- The scholarly work has it that the Book of Mark is the first of the four Gospel records to be
written. It is said to be written in 62 AD thereabout. The Book of John was written the latest in
about 75 AD or later.
- So, if these happenings where written as they occurred, John 2:19 and John 2:20 would be
about 20 years apart. Coming to understanding, the Apostles were given the understanding of
what the Lord meant after the resurrection of our Lord implying, there is the wrong (private)
interpretation of Israel on (John 2:19) and the Holy Spirit given (public) interpretation on (John
2:20).
- (Matthew 26:60-61 juxtaposed with John 2:18), Apostle Matthew described the two as false
witnesses because the Lord said, ‘Destroy this Temple’ yet they quoted Him to have said, ‘l am
5. able to destroy the Temple of God’. By interpretation, the Lord was waiting for Israel to
destroy the Temple, yet in the two false witnesses’ report, Jesus Himself was to destroy ‘the
Temple’. There error is also in answering, which Temple? This Temple referred to the Lord’s
body but because of their private interpretation, they replaced this Temple with the Judean
Temple which they confused to be the Temple of God.
- The Lord was crucified because of a faulty interpretation on the part of the Jews who replaced
this Temple with that (Judean) temple.
- Blaspheming the Temple or supposedly blaspheming the Temple made the Jews vicious and
ready to kill a person. On top of crucifying the Lord of glory [1 Corinthians 2:8], they killed
Deacon Steven (Acts 6:13-15).
- The Lord did not defend himself against the false witnesses even thou this had the capacity to
free Him. Why? Because He came on earth as a sacrificial lamb to die [Remember, it was the
son of man Dispensation] AND most importantly, He wanted to stay true to Matthew 11:27, he
didn’t want to reveal this mystery to them, revealing what He meant in John 2:18. He did not
honor Israel with the Interpretation (Matthew 13:17), they were not His.
- We also learnt about this sickness John 11:4. This sickness is not that sickness it is sin.
Other Private Interpretations from what the Lord said in the days of His flesh.
6. This Kind (Matthew 17:19-21, Mark 9:29)
- We are about to learn about this kind.
- (Mark 9:15-29) – this kind!
- What is this kind? Is this kind referring to a demon?
- If it were a demon as many insinuate, we then ask, this demon is referred to as a kind, then,
how many kinds of demons are there?
- So, if this kind ‘of demon’ needs prayer and fasting, so other kinds of demons need which
other ways of casting when exorcised?
7. - Basing on the faulty private interpretation which insinuates that this kind refers to a demon,
some groups like Gospel Power sang a song based on Mark 9:29 encouraging people to be
prayerful and fast more so that they will be able to exorcise demons they render powerful.
- How do you know if you have this kind of a demon, or you are conversing with someone with
this kind?
- The other question is, what is more important prayer and fasting compared to the word of
God.
- We are going to use Modus Tollens in our analysis.
8. - Modus Tollens is a technique of logical reasoning used in argumentation. Practical illustration
of Modus Tollens:
For example:
Premise A: The christians and scholars have agreed holistically that this kind was referring to a
demon, the argue that the Scripture should be taken literally.
- This demon is one which causes harm to the person it possesses yet other demons use their
host to cause harm to other men.
- The Lord used this boy to symbolize a sinner.
Characteristics of this demon:
▪ Taketh the boy away – sin is a spirit enslaving you and taking you anywhere
against your will and against the will of God.
9. ▪ Teared the boy.
▪ Made the boy to foam – foaming is the act of blaspheming against the Gospel
(Acts 13:45, 2 Peter 2:17-18, Jude 1:11].
▪ The gnashing of teeth – active resistance to the word of Christ (Acts 7:54).
▪ Pineth away – rigidness to accept the Gospel.
- Foaming is speaking great swealing words of vanity exemplified in Makandiwa who insinuates
that he seats in the committee of Heaven.
- Calling yourself a spiritual father is foaming because you will be usurping the executive duties
of our Lord who alone is the Spiritual FATHER, a minister is a Mother, (Galatians 4:19, 1
Corinthians 4:15, 1 Corinthians 3:1-3, 1 John 2:1, 1 Peter 2:2).
- Whenever the Apostles referred to certain believers as sons or children, they were sure to
point out that God is the Father.
- This demon is representing sin.
10. - (Matthew 17:15-17), this demon possessed boy is referred to as a lunatic according to
Matthew the secretarial Apostle. More clarity on the lunatic is derived from attending to this
sermon:
- We have un-schooled scholars of theology in this world .
- The question was, ‘Why could not we cast him out?’ (Mark 9:28).
Premise A: The christians and scholars have agreed holistically that this kind was referring to
the demon, they argue that the Scripture should be taken literally.
Premise B: The Apostles wanted to cast out yet the Lord said this kind had to come forth.
11. - We learn that the phrase come forth according to John 11:43-45, John 5;29, Acts 7:5-7, John
16:28, Matthew 13:49 which means come here, come in, enter, right of admission reserved.
-/-
-/-
- Based on Premise B, this kind is not a demon because it is not expected to come out but
according to what the Lord said, it is to come forth implying that which is illustrated above.
12. - Come out means, the one saying so is not the destination of what s/he is commanding to
come out yet come forth specifies the starting and more importantly, the destination.
- This kind would be a demon if the Lord said it should come out but since it must come forth,
the Lord was not referring to a demon.
- This kind refers to the coming forth of faith, the emanating, entering in and bringing in of
faith. (Mark 9:29).
- No demon is more powerful than another demon to defining levels (all demons are
fundamentally and principally the same) because all demons are forces of darkness and
darkness is defeated with light, Jesus Christ is the light (2 Corinthians 4:6) and this Light comes
through the preaching of the Gospel. Prayer and fasting do not increase light in a person.
- Can faith come forth? Yes, it can – Galatians 3:28.
- The praying and fasting refer to the sufferings of the Lord [Hebrews 5:7, Luke 22: 43-46].
- In Matthew 17:19-21, that which should come out is unbelief.
- Mark 9:29: this kind – that which should come forth is faith.
- Matthew 17:19-21: this kind – that which should come out is unbelief.
- Heresies which result from having a private interpretation of this kind:
14. - Scholars, atheists argue that this generation refers to an age, progression of time so this
position makes Master Jesus a liar because He said, ‘This generation shall not pass, till all these
things be fulfilled’ yet that generation (if literally taken) passed and yet the world did not end.
- The word generation is taken from the root word generator which implies that this word does
not refer to progress of time but refers to progress from a certain personality who will be the
Progenitor, the source of the seed.
- Who is the progenitor and patriarch of this generation?
- Who is the Father of this generation?
- The period of this generation is not marked by years but by a Testament which is to say, the
New Testament Dispensation.
15. - This Generation is a chosen generation not a choosing generation. (1 Peter 2:9).
- This generation is for people who do not die but have eternal life in Christ Jesus (John 11:25-
26).
- The Father of this generation is our Lord Jesus Christ (Hebrews 2:11-14).
- This generation is not consistent of many fathers but only One Father. Apostle Paul, Apostle
Peter, Tertius are of this generation the same way Brother Nelson is of this generation, so this
makes Brother Nelson a brother to the saints in the early (Ephesian) church.
- This generation also refers to sons of disobedience. For, in as much as there is Christ, there is
also an anti-christ (The Mystery Of Iniquity) [Matthew 11:16, Matthew 24:34, Luke 11:49-)
- This generation (the saints) has those who should preach the Gospel of the Kingdom as
preparatory for the end to come (Matthew 24:14), these Preachers are the ambassadors of the
Lord (2 Corinthians 5:20) so if this generation had a time constraint (refers to the generation of
Peter and the like), then who will be left to preach so that the end comes?
- Compare (Isaiah 53:9-) with (Acts 8:33) – ‘who shall declare his generation’.
- This generation based on the concept of the above Scriptures was to be declared not born.
Wasn’t Christ declared to be the Son of God not born? [Isaiah 9:6. Romans 1:1-4].
I, Brother Tapiwa, love you all in the Love of our Lord Jesus Christ …
