Gregory K. Fernander, Founder and CEO of The
Portfolio Consultant Group (TPCG). Mr. Fernander is
the executive with leadership presence, thought
leadership, and tribal leadership responsible for all
entrepreneurial and strategic decisions, and
executive director of business ecosystems design,
development, and deployment. Mr. Fernander is the
first generation real estate, insurance, mortgage
lending, and financial services producer/operator for
commercial and residential who began his career as a
Realtor with RE/MAX, Keller Williams, and Treehomes
Realty LLC co-founder in the 1990s. Since then, Mr.
Fernander has held principal level positions in
information technology, real estate, insurance, and
financial services. Before founding TPCG, Mr.
Fernander was a Systems Engineering Advisor, EDI,
Distribution, and Manufacturing Specialist with IBM.
Since establishing TPCG in 2011, Mr. Fernander has
been responsible for the sourcing, underwriting, and
innovation of strategic relationships and partnerships
with private investors, corporations, communities,
and individuals. After completing his undergraduate
studies with an academic and athletic scholarship
with honors. Mr. Fernander received his B.S. in
mechanical design, drafting, and engineering
technology dual degree programs from the Alabama
A&M University. Mr. Fernander is a candidate for an
Executive M.B.A. from the Jack Welch Management
Institute at the Strayer University of Washington D.C.
focused on trade finance, venture capital, and
private equity investment funds. Gregory is also a
former member of the Board of Directors of the Link
Counseling Center and National Resource Center for
Suicide Prevention of Atlanta.

What is a 'Business Ecosystem'
The network of organizations – including suppliers,
distributors, customers, competitors, and government
agencies involved in the delivery of specific products
and services through both competition and
cooperation. The idea is that each business in the
"ecosystem" affects and is affected by the others,
creating a constantly evolving relationship in which
each business must be flexible and adaptable in order
to survive, as in a biological ecosystem.

BREAKING DOWN 'Business Ecosystem'
The ecosystem model can also be applied to
organizations such as private-sectors and public-
sectors. This term is part of a recent trend toward
using biological concepts to better understand ways
to succeed in business. Advances in technology and
increasing globalization have changed ideas about the
best ways to do business, and the idea of a business
ecosystem is thought to help companies understand
how to thrive in this rapidly changing environment
