2. • The track “Brainstorm” was originally released as a single
on April 2th 2007, shortly before the full length album on
April 18th. It features as the first track on the album.
• To the right are a selection of promotional posters that
were used to advertise the release of the album.
• A music video for Brianstorm was released as a bonus item
on the iTunes version of the album, but was eventually
posted on YouTube by their Record Company “Domino
Recordings”.
• Released on CD and digital formats through iTunes,
“Favourite Worst Nightmare” set the scene for the Arctic
Monkeys future career.
ORIGINAL RELEASE
3. • The overall CD Case and design is very
psychedelic with random themes representing
“nightmares”. The House with the windows lit
up showing images that to many are strange
and undecipherable.
• The house style is continuous throughout and
uses a base of two or three fonts. The title
font used for the band name is very obscure
and also represents the idea of “Nightmares”.
• The album follows the life of the very
energetic night parties and ideals of the typical
Young Adult. This is represented in the cover
art through the other houses being dark and
closed off but “their” house being lit up with
unexplainable feelings and thoughts.
CD CASE – DESIGN AND IDEAS
4. • The posters released to promote follow the
same rather strange and obscure design,
colours and layout of the album cover.
• The colours used are the same throughout
every aspect of the promotional package, the
washed out yellow used throughout each
design, the red and black all three of which
are the main aspects of each image.
• The font design resembles a horror classic
cult horror film’s font, a very striking
stretched out font that connote a rather
niche appearance

5. MUSIC VIDEO
• The music video for Brianstorm features a live
performance mixed with a dance routine and
slightly obscure scenes that lack relation to the
what we see.
• The video is Illustrative of the stereotypical
outlook 18-25 year olds have on life, drinking
drugs and relationships. It also has aspects of
disjuncture where we lack understanding of
what’s going on in the scene.
• The process of a music video evolves the initial
concept from the lyrics or something different
entirely. Then the process of storyboarding,
finding locations, film crew, editors and actors
(if needed). Once planned out the video is
filmed and then edited to achieve the desired
idea. After this they video is released on
multiple platforms to promote and allow fans to
consume the media.
6. • The overall design and ideals of the Arctic Monkeys is a Youths concept on life,
the events and chapters in their lives, the rebellion and realization. The visual
aspects of the album would appeal mainly to those of a younger generation with
the more abstract and almost childish characters.
• The video shows this mostly through the dance portion where we see a slightly
voyeuristic image of female youths. The stereotypes of the generation are a big
selling point throughout. The band appear to be a Punk Revival/Psychedelic Rock
to which their designs match perfectly.
