1. Fobisia Schools In India
The British School is an international, not-for-profit school located in the heart of the
diplomatic area of New Delhi. The 54-year old school offers high quality education to
expatriate and local families by drawing on the best facets of a rich and culturally
diverse community. We offer the National Curriculum of England adapted to an
international context, the IGCSE and the IB Diploma Programme. With students from
nearly 60 nationalities, the school provides student-centred education in a safe,
stimulating and multicultural environment.
The British School, New Delhi is unique. Not just because it is home to a rich
cultural mix of students from 60 nationalities ranging from ages 3 to 18. Nor because
it operates a not-for-profit system with an inclusive approach. The reason is simple.
It is more than a school; it is a family.
The British School is the first and only school in India to be awarded membership of
FOBISIA. FOBISIA offers a range of events and the FOBISIA Games is the best known
benefit of FOBISIA membership for schools. Membership allows for a host of
opportunities for students to participate in events and interact with others from
different countries and cultures and enjoy working together on common interests. For
teachers, FOBISIA offers professional development by organising conferences and
workshops where they meet to share good practice, swap ideas and receive
professional training from invited university lecturers and consultants from around the
world. These events facilitate teachers from different schools to learn from each other
and keep them updated with international educational thinking.
The British School has a current staff strength of 264, which includes 174 teachers,
57 administrative staff, 29 Support (manual) staff and four Senior Leadership Team
members. The school has a multicultural environment, with nine nationalities being
represented in the school staff. 90% of the academic staff is Indian. The other
nationalities being represented are American, Australian, British, Dutch, French, New
Zealander, Nepali, Spanish and Republic of Belarus.
