Crime drama evaluation

Crime Drama Evaluation(police of cake)
Project inspiration
Our group was inspired hugely by the film ‘touch of cloth’ because they have created
the kind of comedy that we wanted too but they just used/had a lot more resources
than us so we decided to take some of their ideas and incorporate them into a school
environment to make it look more realistic for our age audience as I think they will
be able to relate to it better.
The initial idea
When we were set our task the first thing we did in our groups was to think of a
name to base the video on after a while of thinking, I came up with the name ‘police
of cake’ which is a little pun on the phrase ‘piece of cake’ this name suggested that it
was a crime video starring advanced police who found catching criminals particularly
easy.
Target Audience
Our target audience is the younger generation aged 11-18 this is because it is meant
to be humorous and sarcastic because it is pretty much a spoof of a real/serious
crime drama we aimed it at younger people because I think adults would take this
too literally by expecting it to build suspense and be extremely logical, and not
seeing the sarcastic side of it.
Strengths and weaknesses
I think the main strength of our project was that we had a wide spread knowledge
within our group because each person had their main strength of skills in particular
areas, for example Aaron is very good at editing so we all sat down and contributed
him verbal ideas to incorporate into the draft edit.
I think my personal strength within the group was the creative side of it, because I
am quite a creative person it was easy for me to think outside the box for suitable
ideas and a name.
The main weaknesses of our group was the concentration levels when it came to
planning ,as we were excited about filming I think we may have rushed some of the
pre-production/ courseworkor not have done it as thoroughly as we could have.

My input
My practical input was editing some of the first clips together to make the order of
clips in the one of the more brief drafts, I did this by cutting them to the correct
points which made the video flow rather than having them go black or stop and start.
I also featured as the criminal when it came to acting this was because some
members of the group felt uncomfortable being on camera.
This is the tool I used to cut the clips
Was I happy with our teamwork?
I think our teamwork throughout the whole time of the project was very good
because if we had two different opinions of what to do, we didn’t argue or but
negotiated and got the rest of the groups opinion, this made us a very flexible group
which is why I think we worked so well together. Also as we had already completed a
useful pre-production schedule we were very organised so there was no need for
anyone to disagree with each other. Everyone managed to have lots of fun and
laughs at the same time without wasting time.
Am I happy with our final project?
Yes I am happy with our trailer mainly because it is entertaining and enjoyable to
watch more than once this is because the trailers gives away that it is meant to be
funny but does not spoil anything by being too informative I also think the audio
helps it to be enjoyable to watch because it is very deceiving meaning that when you
first hear the music you imagine It to be like a stereotypical crime drama, however I
think the contrast makes it very unique.
