CHIEF OF POLICE (2009-Present)
Direct 10 sworn officers in law enforcement for city with nearly 3K residents. Create and oversee department’s daily
schedule, including ongoing initiatives, while driving focus on ensuring public safety and responding to emergencies
and events. Develop and implement budget, as well as policies and procedures to ensure optimum efficiency and
adherence to standards. Drive efforts to secure grant funding for critical operations and needs, including a
departmental security system, bulletproof vests, radar units, AEDs, and technology equipment. Provide staff with
training and support, while driving focus on education and ongoing learning for all officers.
Significantly improved engagement with community members through introduction of a Citizen’s Police
Academy—program provided education on police procedures, law enforcement/legal issues, firearms, and other
topics to promote understanding and collaboration.
Modernized and advanced department capabilities by introducing key technologies including mobile computers
(100% paid for through grant), as well as car video cameras, body cameras, and RMS upgrades.
Improved Department’s relationships and reputation with local police forces and citizenry through proactive
adjustments to traffic enforcement policy. Increased productivity while greatly reducing number of stops.
Lowered costs for charges by county dispatch center through implementation of computer program that
enabled direct logins by officers without need for intermediary.

and schedules, and led multiple improvement initiatives.

Conducted investigations for cases involving illegal manufacture, distribution, and/or use of controlled substances,
partnering extensively with local, state, and federal law enforcement agencies, as well as with prosecutors to support
convictions. Authored and distributed detailed reports and documentation to support cases against offenders.
Effectively managed high-pressure investigations, including those involving methamphetamine labs.
Investigated two Outlaw Motorcycle Clubs.
