Abijah succeeded Rehoboam as king of Judah and tried to warn the leaders of Israel against rebelling against the Lord. He reminded them of their heritage and encouraged them to follow God. When King Jeroboam refused to listen, God helped Abijah and delivered him from Jeroboam's ambush, killing 500,000 of Jeroboam's soldiers. Abijah's vision led to his victory because having the right vision at the right time results in success, while having the wrong vision at the wrong time leads to disaster.
