Understanding exactly who is using your Notes and Domino applications is important for compliance, efficiency, and security. Adviser 6.1 includes Effective Access, a feature that displays users’ access rights to specified databases, no matter how complex your group hierarchies. In this webinar, Dan Colbert and John Coolidge show:
-An easy way to audit the Effective Access of all users across an environment
-How to quickly replicate access rights for a new hire
-A better way to avert unauthorized or inadvertent access risks
Whether you:
-Have an upcoming audit,
-Are looking to consolidate servers,
-Are a Domino admin wanting to make your day-to-day support tasks easier,
-Or you are a security team unfamiliar with Notes/Domino and are looking to better understand your security settings in general,
The powerful features demoed in this webinar will save you and your staff hours of time otherwise spent manually analyzing group hierarchies and unraveling nested groups.
Welcome and thank you for coming to our webinar. We’re excited to have you with us today.
My name is _____. I am a _____ at Teamstudio.
Our Technical Director _____ is joining me today, and the 2 of us will present to you this webinar titled “Understand Usage with Detailed Access Information.”
Here is our agenda for the next 30 minutes
We’ll start with a short overview of Teamstudio and how we help our customers
Then we’ll talk about Teamstudio Adviser, focusing on its Catalog and Usage modules and how they can help you understand exactly who’s using your apps
I will then hand it over to _____ for a 15 minute, hands-on demonstration
That will leave us with a few minutes at the end to answer your questions
All participants are muted, but we encourage you to type your questions and comments in the questions section of the GoToWebinar interface at any time. _____ and I will put a voice to them and answer them verbally after the demo at the end of this webinar
Teamstudio has been in business since 1996. Our headquarters is located just north of Boston in Beverly, Massachusetts. We also have offices in Tokyo and near London.
We have been leading the way in the areas of Notes application design and source code management with a set of tools used by more than 100,000 organizations over the years
We’re proud to have had the same CEO and CTO in place for all 21+ years
Our suite of software tools helps organizations with customized Notes applications implement best practices, work more efficiently, and prepare for the future
We are easily accessible via phone, email, or web, and we love hearing from you
The solution you are about to see is called Teamstudio Adviser. It contains 4 modules.
The Catalog module, which provides an exhaustive inventory of all the nsf and ntf hosted on your servers, as well as detailed access rights information for each database and user
The Usage module, which captures and presents usage information, focusing on business users activity, again for both users and databases
Catalog and Usage are the 2 modules we will be focusing on today
The 2 other modules that we will talk about in more detail during a future webinar are:
The complexity module, which looks at the complexity of databases in terms of code and design
- and last but not least, the Guidance module which makes some recommendation for each database on whether it should be retired, archived, retained or rewritten
I have highlighted on this slide a few compliance and security use cases for Adviser:
-Identify all the users who have access to a specific application
-List all the applications to which a specific user has access
-List all the applications a specific user is actively using
-Identify users who have greater access to applications than required
-Find applications where anonymous and default access are higher than they should be
Additional compliance and security use cases for Adviser include: preparing for an upcoming audit, server consolidation projects, making a Domino admin’s day-to-day support tasks easier, and helping a security team unfamiliar with Notes/Domino understand their general security settings.
There are many more use cases for this tool: our clients also use it to help with identifying databases to be archived or retired, to help with consolidating servers, to tidy-up their Notes address book, for migration purposes or simply to make their day-to-day support tasks easier.
No matter what your use case is, ___ is going to show you exactly what this tool looks like and how it can help you understand your usage.
John/Larry will show:
-An easy way to audit the Effective Access of all users across an environment
-How to quickly replicate access rights for a new hire
-A better way to avert unauthorized or inadvertent access risks
Thank you _____, great demo! now its time for us to answer your questions
(if no one asks questions, use these until you’re out of time)
Example Questions:
1: What about agents that are signed with a User ID? Is there activity considered agent activity or user activity?
2: What about Traveler activity?
3: Is there a limit in the number of groups?
4: Will Adviser identify ACL settings in nested groups?
5: What does the tool technically collect in terms of logs, files, etc.? Is it possible to know the filenames of what is in use?
6: Can Adviser monitor servers in more than one domain?
(If the audience asks tons of questions, it’s ok to go past 30 minutes. Some will log off right at the stop time, but keep answering the questions for everyone’s benefit because it will be captured in the recording.)
We are reaching the end of the 30 minutes so we are going to end the webinar now. Thank you John, thank you all very much for setting aside some time for this webinar. If you have any additional questions, please feel free to reach out to us at the email addresses listed on this slide. We look forward to seeing you again soon.
