4. What is a product listing?
In order to display the products that you are willing to sell to the customers, a product listing is
absolutely necessary across any online platform like amazon/ flipkart/ paytm etc.
A Product listing is a specific web page that is allocated to a certain brand product for sale.
It is a onetime process of creating a web page that displays your product on website. It is a page
from where the customer will review your product & makes the buying decision after reading all
the available product information.
As the web page is an electronic mode & the customer cannot touch & feel the products, the
customer will rely on the product listing information & buy the product. Unlike of local retail shop
buying where in a customer can touch & feel the product to make a buying decision.
Process for getting products listed on websites:
For getting your products listed on websites like amazon, flipkart etc. you are required to
catalog or catalogue by filling in all the mandatory attributes of the products.
A catalog is a portfolio of your product consisting of the below:
Product sku code, product title, product picture or image, model no, MRP, features etc.
The more details you put into your catalogue, the better is your listing score.
5. Contacting amazon for the listing
• Process:
1) Fill in the data in the respective category template or
listing file that your product falls under and share the
same with amazon catalog team to create the listing
and code for your product.
For example: Want to sell a bottle on amazon.in , your
product should fall under : Home and kitchen>> under
thermos & water bottle.
• Benefits:

Drawback:
Time consuming as amazon will take its standard
processing time for listing.
Creating self listing through amazon seller panel
• Process:
Self listing: A self listing is also called as Third party
on amazon. (TP)
It is a listing that is done by a seller using the seller panel
access.
This can be done by log in to the seller panel>> add a
product >>create a single listing
• Benefits:
Self listing

Listing code (ASIN) is generated in 15 mins

6. Product listing can break or make your business, HOW?
If the product listing details such as the product image, product
contents like- description, title and other details mentioned on the
website are incorrect, inappropriate or is contradicting with the actual
product received by the customer then in such cases, the customer will
thereafter, return your product which will not only hamper your sales
but will also lead to negative customer ratings (Seller & product
reviews). After repeated negative reviews and ratings, the portal might
also penalize you or permanently supress your product listing. This will
definitely become an obnoxious experience for you!
7. A GOOD LISTING HELP
YOU TO
MAKE MORE
CUSTOMERS
BUILD A GOODWILL
GROW BUSINESS etc.
A BAD LISTING CAN
HINDER:
CUSTOMER
RELATIONSHIP/TRUST
SALE LOSS
BUSINESS LOSS etc.
8. Conclusion:
As the customer is the king of the business, be Loyal to your customers by displaying
correct attributes of your product information i.e. product image/ colour/size of the
product/features/usages/warranty/package components/Description/MRP/offer
price/shipping charges etc.
