This document provides a design plan for a plant choice garden in 2014. It lists various plant and material options with descriptions of each including their names, sizes, features, colors, blooming periods, and benefits for wildlife or aesthetics. Plants are categorized by their intended use in different garden sections such as a shade garden, rock garden, hosta garden, black lace elderberry, creeping red fescue, sunny flower garden, weeping falsecypress and daffodils/spring bulbs. Permeable pavers and bluestone are also specified for path/patio materials.

8. (G) Arctic Fire Dogwood
4x4 (Shrub Class Notes), berries for wildlife, purple fall color, and
awesome winter interest
9. (H) Summer Wine Ninebark
6x6 Bird, bee and butterfly magnet! Late May-June bloom, red seed
heads and a bright red fall color. Birds use the peeling bark for nests.
10. (I) Degroot’s Spire Arborvitae
20x3, attracts birds. The fragrant foliage stays nice and thick, no empty
spaces like other arborvitaes.
11. (J) Red Barronwort
10 x 16 ++ inches Ground cover for part to full shade. Semi-evergreen
with a May bloom. Yellow, bronze and red in the fall.
12. (K) Bottlebrush Buckeye
12x12 Birds and swallowtail butterflies are attracted to this gorgeous
shrub. Late July-August bloom, stunning fall color
13. (L) Russian Cypress
1 x 8 Low spreading evergreen with gracefully nodding tips. The feathery
bright green foliage turns a coppery-purple brown in the winter

15. (N) Aggregate Rock Garden
Corydalis lutea, 15x18, this plant has little yellow flowers that bloom from
May-Sept. It loves to live in dry shade and rocks. Very long bloom that adds
color to shade. Barren-strawberry 4”x 18”, good ground cover for shady dry
area.
