through sustainable design approach
University of Tehran, Kish International Campus,
Kish, Iran, Jun 2011
The aim of this project was to redesign the
newspaper kiosk, an important element in Iran’s
urban space, using a sustainable design
approach.
After a literature review of the sustainable design
approach and its principles, two methods were
used to come up with the design parameters:
creative and rational.
The sub methods used were as follows:
scenario-based design, Kansei engineering,
setting requirements, clarifying objectives,
establishing functions, determining
characteristics, QFD and EQFD, LCA, generating
alternatives, evaluation of alternatives, improving
details, product alternatives, product types, and
product features.
In this project, the corporate identity of a company was designed, which included
objectives, structures, services, products, display area, and logo.
The designer created a company called Rython. The company’s main goals were to
design and sell Persian luxury jewelry.

The national dress of the Turkmens has changed
very little over the centuries. The distinctive high,
shaggy sheepskin hats worn by men help keep the
hot sun from their heads, and combined with their
red robes over white shirts, create a striking
image. Women, too, still wear the traditional
clothing of a long silk shift over narrow trousers
that are trimmed with a band of embroidery at the
ankle. Richly decorated headwear, jewelry and
embroidery accent even everyday clothing.
The Turkmen tribes live in many areas of Iran.
Their traditions and customs are rich, unique and
remarkable.
