Colgate – Palmolive PakistanLimited is a Fast-Moving Consumer Goods
(FMCG) industry, which is located in Kotri, Pakistan. FMCG are the products that
are quite frequently used by the consumers in their daily routine. We did seven
days internship here. The main purposeof our internship was to study and learn
about different production processes thatare being performed in CPPL.
I was given Post Addition Plant, Where I learned a lot of processes like
Screening, Mixing, Grinding, Storage and other process.

Introduction of Post Addition:
Post Addition is a in Colgate Palmolive, Kotri which further process the Base powder of
SABIZ Plant
NTD (Non Tower Detergent)
Base Powder is a main ingredient of the Detergent.
The process of Post Addition starts from the top most floor of the building, where a Blower
sucks the Base Powder from SABIZ Plant by the help of the Air Lift Unit. The Powder then
goes to the Cyclone which distributes the powder to maintain the flow of the powder.

5. Screening Area (Top Floor).
Cyclone sends the powder to the Sieve Shaker / Rotating Sieve, (whereSS Mesh 04MM
Installed) which by the help of the motion, screens the fine particles. Over sizes are
separated and collected in small Bags and send to the Grinding area/unit.
Note: Grinding will be discussed in a separate step.

Master Batch is prepared for different Powder Brands in Pre Mixer according to
standard Formulation.

Master Batch is a mixture of different compounds, which is used to increasecleaning
ability as well as stain removaletc.
Base powder of Sabiz and NTD Plant Feed into Mixer and Add Master Batch through
Screw Feeder according to standard.
The process of perfuming as well takes place in this section. Dedicated tanks of
different perfumeare used to store Perfume. Dozing pumps takes feed fromthe tanks
and transports themto the Mixer where with the help of nozzlethe Perfume is Spray
on the powder, it is considered carefully to keep flow rate of the perfume very less so
that it’ll not wet the powder.

6. The Mixers(Rotating Mixer) collects the Powder and rotates it over and over to get it
full agitated, a dustCollector is installed with the mixer to eliminate the dust particles
fromthe powder.

After Completion of Process, PerfumePowder collects in small bags and Trolleys and
lying at designated area of Trolley Floor.
Before Final packing stage the powder is screened through 3mmscreen and oversizeis
collected. Packing Machines are installed at packing dept. whereperfume powder is
packed.
Grinding:
Grinding process is carried out in Post addition Plant to recover and reuse the oversize
powder.
Over sizepowder is collected fromtwo different stages. First when powder is screened
initially after coming fromSABIZ plant. Second when the Process powder is packed.

7. The quantity of the Oversizeproduction depends on the type Detergent Powder we
are processing.
After Collection of the oversizePowder, Powder is moved towards the Grinding
Section.
The Grinder used in this process is Pin Grinder. Itconsists of a vertical plate which
contains metallic pins on its surface, when the powder (oversize) is added to the
grinder it rotates and function of grinding takes place. The grinded powder is passed
through the sieve(4mm) and then it is stocked in bags. The grinded powder is again
added to the main base powder or perfumed powder based on its sourceof collection.
Grinding Efficiency can be maximizing with the help of somefactors.
In these firstis to make surethat the grinder which is being used is appropriate for
that stuff and maintained properly. Secondly the material should be non sticky for
which talcum/zeolite is used in grinding process. Talcum increasethe flow of the
powder and makes it easy to grind.
