24. Ad hoc vs Retained rate
Ad hoc hourly rate (no VAT payable)
The consulting and execution rate is R750,00 per hour for a senior consultant, R550,00 per hour per account
executive, and R350,00 per hour for a junior consultant / researcher.
Senior consultant Suza Adam will oversee and will be the primary team member to service the account. She
will be responsible for interfacing with the client, funders, key opinion leaders, journalists, writing and
editing, feedback to your company, etc.
Costs for third party disbursements are cleared with the client beforehand and are for the client’s account
(e.g. postage, design, printing, etc.). There is a 15% disbursement fee on third party costs. Travel and
accommodation outside Gauteng is for the client’s account. There is a 10% per year escalation fee in
meeting rising inflation costs.
Retainer basis (no VAT payable)
Spindle charges the following rates for work conducted on a retainer basis. Clients commit to a 12 month or
longer agreement. Costs for third party disbursements are cleared with the client beforehand and are for
the client’s account (e.g. advertising, postage, design, printing, etc.). There is a 15% mark-up on third party
costs. Travel and accommodation outside Gauteng is for the client’s account. There is a 10% per year
escalation fee in meeting rising inflation costs. No refunds for unused hours.
Minimum 20 hours per month R11 000.00 per month, R550.00 per hour.
Every additional hour over 20 hours and up 30 hours per month is charged at R500.00 per hour.
Above 30 hours per month the rate is further reduced to R450.00 per hour.
