Employee Compensation Act -1923
 Objective :
 This is an Act to provide for the
payment by certain classes of
Employers to their workmen (Employee)
of compensation for injury by accident
during the course of Employment.
 All employee’s who are on the job and
not covered under ESIC act they get
compensate

Employees State Insurance Act - 1948
 Objective :
 Govt. introduced a scheme of Social
Insurance for industrial workers
 To provide for certain benefits to employees
in case of sickness, maternity and
“employment injury”
 To provide full medical care to insured
persons & their families.

Contribution-ESIC
1. Employees’ Contribution – 1.75% of the Wages
2. Employers’ Contribution – 4.75% of the Wages
3. Total Contribution - 6.50 % * Gross Salary
 Contribution towards the scheme on a monthly basis.
 Under ESI Scheme, the comprehensive and need based package of Social
Security Benefits in Cash and kind include the following:
1. Medical Benefit
2. Sickness Benefit
3. Maternity Benefit
4. Disablement Benefit
5. Dependent Benefit

 Company and employees can agree to pay bonus linked to
production and productivity.

Payment of Gratuity Act - 1972
 Objective :-

 Reward for long, meritorious service
 At least 5 years
 Rate of gratuity =15/26 * Last drawn salary * No. of year
serve
 15 = Half month Salary
 26 = No. of days working
Employees PF & MP Act, 1952
 Objective :-
 It is a social security to industrial workers.
 It applicable to those who comes under the definition of
employee & worker.

  • 9. Contribution-ESIC 1. Employees’ Contribution – 1.75% of the Wages 2. Employers’ Contribution – 4.75% of the Wages 3. Total Contribution - 6.50 % * Gross Salary  Contribution towards the scheme on a monthly basis.  Under ESI Scheme, the comprehensive and need based package of Social Security Benefits in Cash and kind include the following: 1. Medical Benefit 2. Sickness Benefit 3. Maternity Benefit 4. Disablement Benefit 5. Dependent Benefit
  • 10. The Industrial Disputes Act - 1947  Objective :  To make provision for the investigation & settlement of “industrial disputes” between employer & employee  If misconduct happen -Warning -Enquiry  If extreme level misconduct happen -Termination Mr. Jagdish (production Manager)
  • 11. Payment of Bonus Act -1965  Objective :  Company and employees can agree to pay bonus linked to production and productivity.  minimum (8.33%) and  maximum (20%)
  • 12. Payment of Gratuity Act - 1972  Objective :-  Social security measure  Reward for long, meritorious service  At least 5 years  Rate of gratuity =15/26 * Last drawn salary * No. of year serve  15 = Half month Salary  26 = No. of days working
  • 13. Employees PF & MP Act, 1952  Objective :-  It is a social security to industrial workers.  It applicable to those who comes under the definition of employee & worker. Contribution EPF EPS Total Employer 3.67% 8.33% 12% Employee 12% 0 12% Total 24%
