Leading large scale change: a life at the interface between theory and practice
Burns
1. Dear Sirs!
Burn is a damage of body tissues caused by action of high temperature or certain chemicals
(alkali, acids). The severity of a burn is determined by an area and depth of tissue damage. First
degree: encounters skin redness, slight swelling and pain. After 2-4 days a skin heals and no
marks of the burns remain. Second degree: skin is damaged from the epithelium to the lineage
layer. There are small vesicles with serous contents. Burn heals completely in 1-2 weeks. Third A
degree: the dermis is partially affected; the bottom of the wound is an undamaged part of dermis
with remaining epithelial elements (sebaceous, sweat glands, hair follicles). Large bubbles tend
to fuse are formed, with serous-hemorrhagic content. Independent recovery of skin surface is
possible if a burn is not complicated by an infection. Third B degree: total destruction of the
skin. Fourth degree: death of underlying tissues, charring of subcutaneous fat, muscles and
bones.
Treatment: A qualified medical care is provided in a specialized burn center or surgical
hospital.
Rehabilitation of burn patients remains difficult and important problem. Burns cause not only
physical but also psychological trauma, since they disfigure a man. A patient falls into a
depression experiencing social maladjustment. Rehabilitation therapy plan should be drawn up
taking into account the needs of rehabilitation and physical condition of a patient. Motional
exercises should be carried out every day, often and with varying load. If a patient is able to
withstand a proposed plan for 2-3 days, the load is gradually increased. Duration of load
increases and at the same time its frequency decreases.
Unfortunately, in many patients even during an adequate rehabilitation therapy it is impossible to
prevent partial or complete restriction of mobility due to the formation of scar tissue and muscle
atrophy.
Fetal stem cells can be used in complex therapy of burns, which significantly improves clinical
results of surgical treatment and rehabilitation.
The employees of EmProCell have developed a special comprehensive methodology for skin
burns treatment using fetal progenitor cells and fetal tissues extracts.
The essence of the treatment is to stimulate regeneration processes of the skin, to strengthen
immune and hematopoietic systems, reduce the intensity of connective tissue formation on the
site of the burn and prevent the formation of kelloid scars. Fetal stem cells and fetal tissue
extracts are used both at the active stage of treatment of burns and in the period of rehabilitation.
Four types of cells are used for transplantation: fetal hematopoietic and mesenchymal cells, fetal
keratinocytes and fetal neuroblasts. As a result of the treatment burns heal faster, with minimal
risk of infectious complications and without formation of rough kelloid scars.
Benefits of fetal progenitor cells produced in EmProCell for the treatment of skin burns are
following:
➢ Cells are produced in the laboratory fitted with the most modern equipment according to
the unique patented method of EmProCell.
➢ Cells are exposed to careful control for biological safety: they are tested for the direct
identification of 14 viruses, aerobic and anaerobic microorganisms and fungi.
➢ Cells are analyzed for normality and safety of their genetic apparatus.
➢ Cells are separated at the period of organogenesis when primary skin integument,
hematopoietic and nervous systems begin to form.
➢ At your request EmProCell is ready to provide the passport (certificate) of fetal
progenitor cells used in skin burns treatment.
Fetal progenitor cells give good clinical effect in skin burns treatment since they optimize a burn
wound healing program. Effectiveness of treatment depends on the degree of burns. In severe
burns cells are used both as local applications and systemically by intravenous injection.
