INTRODUCTION
• In service education is the continuation of
education when the employee is in service , in
service education may be part of any program
of staff development.
DEFINITION
• In service education is a type of education
that is provided to the employees [a person
who works for some one]while they are on
the job so as to improve their working
capacity or efficiency.
• It is planned learning experience provided by
the employing agency for employees
AIMS OF INSERVICE EDUCATION
• Improve patient care.
• Individual nurse require new knowledge and
improve the performance.
• It improve professional growth and
development
• This gives the staff members chance for
promotion.

Orientation
• Orientation period introduce a new employee
to the basic aspect of job .orientation is
beneficial for a new employee to assume new
responsibilities. orientation is essential for
every professional personal.
Purpose of orientation
• To acquire knowledge
• To know organizational setup ,policies
routines.
• To understand the job description
• To know the staffing pattern.
SKILL TRAINING
• A skill is a great ability .the skill training
provides how and why to the new employee
in carrying out the assigned function .the
importance of skill training and orientation to
new employee providing close relationship
between good nursing care and good ward
management .skill training helps the new
employee new knowledge and skill required to
do particular task.
Objective of skill training
• It enhance the employee standard of working
performance .
• It lessen the direct supervision needed by the
employer.
• Reduce friction .[disagreement between people
or group.]
• Provides the job satisfaction .
• Provides to perform correct method.
• Lessen the wrong method.
• Understand how and why.
LEADERSHIP AND MANAGEMENT
• Leadership and management are important
because the nurse is expected to function with
the help of other members ,their competence
in such areas in writing care plans ,conducting
conference ,giving transfer reports ,
supervising and directing non professional
staff will be large measure which determine
the degree of the nurse success in a charge as
team leader role.
OBJECTIVE
• Promotes good moral
• Aid [ help] in reducing costly turn over in top
position
• Level up appreciation of service
• Lessen amount of direct supervision.
CONTINUING EDUCATION
• In service education is a part of continuing
education.it is defined as those activities
which contribute to the nurse's development
in the areas of knowledge skill and attitude.

education program
• Work with personnel

Method of in service education
program
• There are various methods which can be used to
implement in service education programs these are :-
• Demonstration
• Conference
• Class room observation
• Committee
• Field trip
• Panel
• Workshop
• Role playing
• Brain storming
• Buzz session
• Research
• Tape recording
DEMONSTRATION
• Demonstration involves the presentation of
pre arranged series of event to be observed by
group it should be based on the need of the
group it should be planned and implemented
in a way that it emphasizes the procedure or
techniques that can be effectively observed.
CONFERENCE
• Conference can be organized as a part of in-
service education these need to be well
structured this arouses the interest and
stimulates the ideas ,though conference latest
information can be provided to the group
which can be beneficial for the members
CLASSROOM OBSERVATION
• This is one the useful device for creating an
understanding of student behavior it help the
teacher in adopting new ideas for teaching to
the group
COMMITTEE
• Committee is a small group of people engaged
in an activity having specific objective
committee is associated with a group which
has chosen a specific problem to a small group
to have solution
FIELD TRIP
• Field trips are the trips away from the
institution to have the personnel to see
ongoing operation in related to their area of
interest or work.
PANNEL(a group of people who give their
advice or opinions about something)
• Panel discussion will help in updating the
knowledge of the worker or group. panel is a
group of two or more people , who speakers,
have to present a single topic
WORKSHOP
• As an inservice education programme
workshop can be organized .these workshops
can be three days depending upon the
content to be taught to group. workshop is a
meeting of experienced personnel whose
purpose to solve the common educational
problem.
ROLE PLAY
• Role playing means dramatizing or acting out .
this is the way to act out the response to a
specific problem situation.
BRAIN STORMING
• Brain storming is to obtain the greatest
number of suggestion in the shortest period of
time ,concerning a given problem.
BUZZ SESSION
• It means encouraging the group members to
be more active in a discussions.
It includes –
• Five to eight participants in each group
• Arrangement of group in circle or around the
table
• Each group situated separately from another
• The group leader may be selected by group
RESEARCH
• Research involves the step
to be followed such as
recognizing a problem
establishing hypothesis
surveying analyzing the
surveyed data arriving at
conclusion and
establishment of principle
TAPE RECORDIND
