23. Clutch
•Engages and disengages the drive
•Allowing smooth pulling away
• Stopping and changing gears without stopping the engine.
•Allow the driver to stop the vehicle for a while.

24. Cause of failure
• Worn clutch plate
 Reduces efficiency
 Result in trouble while engaging and disengaging
• Loose/missing spring
 Cause the clutch to vibrate
 Produce noise
• Overheating
 Cause the friction material to burn
 Cause by slipping of the clutch
• Incorrect installation
 Cause the clutch plate to not work correctly

25. Replacing a clutch plate
1. Jack up the vehicle
2. Disconnect the sensor wires
3. Remove gearbox
4. Remove old pressure plate and flywheel
5. Clean the inside of the belling house
6. Replace a new clutch plate an join sensor
wires.
7. Fit the gearbox

 Curved metal in which linings are attached
 Most are made of two pieces of steel welded
together in a T-shaped cross sections.

• Squealing or rubbing noises
• Pulling to one side of the vehicle during braking
• Reduced braking power
• Ineffective parking brake

34. Procedure to replace brake shoe
Remove bolts using pneumatic gun.
Remove the wheel and brake drum.
Take out the brake shoe assembly.
Replace the worn out linings with new one in the
brake shoe.
Reinstall the brake shoe assembly.
Fit brake drum and wheels.
Tight bolts.

35. Safety
 Leather shoes should always be wear
 Worker should wear safety helmet all the time
 Apron should be compulsory

36. Problems Observed:
• Non availability of Big parts in time
• Environmental pollution due to waste oils, old
oils etc mixed in nearby river.
• Insufficient Electricians
• Due to nearer border area, customer buy vehicle
parts in India and assemble it in local garage.

37. Recommendation
More bays should be built.
More than one electrician should be provided.
There should be a stock of rarely available parts.
 Oils, solid wastes should be collected at
particular areas.
