3. About the National Asphalt Paving
Association
NAPA is dedicated to ensuring that engineers and
future Department of Transportation officials are well
educated about hot mix asphalt (HMA) technology,
which is vital to making good roads and bridges. In
order to ensure that HMA continues to be the subject
of research and improvement, NAPA works to identify
college students who take an interest in HMA and help
finance their educations through the NAPA Research
and Education Foundation. Since 1994, the
Foundation has provided scholarships to students
studying engineering, road construction, and
transportation management, many of whom have
gone on to implement HMA technology in public works
at the local, state, and national levels.
